Here is Jenna's finished Valentine's outfit. I made her the shirt to match. I just used a red shirt that she already had. I didn't do anything to the hem of the skirt. I just hemmed it. The pink leggings are courtesy of Linnette. Thank you again Linnette.
S2010275.jpg

This is Jenna's fancy Easter dress. I will most probably take her to get her pictures taken in this one. Years ago I drew up a dress for Jenna and never did anything with it. I came across the picture a couple of weeks ago and decided to do it for Easter this year. I used CarlaC's Simply Sweet pattern with the Empire waist and of course the CarlaC Bow pattern. This is the large bow.
S2010272.jpg

And here is the back.
S2010273.jpg

Here is the new baby doll top dress pattern from YCMT.com. I had to add some white fabric to the part where the top makes a V. It was way too low and I found that unacceptable. Jenna picked this fabric and I promised her that I would make a dress for her. She wanted it last year, but I made her the pink roses dress last year.

And here is the rainy day that we had all day. I think that Jenny was sharing this weather with us today.
S2010274.jpg

I love it all. She is such a ham! super cute!

here was our weather today. It was very cold and loud. but sooo needed

DSCF0465.jpg

It was like this for nearly two hours, and then extremely heavy rain for the rest of the afternoon. I love it! Except I have no firewood...:(

So I just started an applique shirt for DD. I still need to make the eyes bigger and add whiskers. Tell me what you think!
TiggerShirt002.jpg

I'm not normally one to ask for prayers but since y'all are so good at it...I'm asking. My next door neighbor's daughter is in the Navy. Last night two uniformed Naval officers showed up at their front door :sad1: To make matters 1000 times worse, turns out that she was murdered by her boyfriend on the base in Virginia. My DH and his sister grew up with her so his family is taking the news very hard. Please keep them (and of course her family) in your prayers this weekend

Thanks gang :grouphug:
Kristine

oh my goodness - so sad,,,,will definately say a prayer for everyone who knows her.......

Thanks everyone for your kind words about Daniel ! you are so right, kids rebound - hopefully this will just be a blip on his radar!!! You are so right about the MAW trip - I wonder if he would choose Disney???? THat'd be soooo cool!!!! Do they let "Aunt Wendy's" come too????:rotfl2:

Thanks Ladies...it's been a rough day in my neighborhood.

That is very sad. T&P for the family.

So I just started an applique shirt for DD. I still need to make the eyes bigger and add whiskers. Tell me what you think!
th_TiggerShirt002.jpg

That is sooooo cute!!

And finally, my first sewing project with the new machine!!! Like I said earlier, this took me a long time to do. I am sure once I get more comfortable with my machine it won't take so long. I love the flouncy pattern! I wish I would have gone with a shorter length, bit it came out ok. These are after she wore it all day, so it is a little wrinkled.

I have no idea where this pose came from :confused3
003-6.jpg

I even did a decorative stitch along the bottom hem! Yay me.
008-2.jpg

Gettin' her twirl on
004-6.jpg

Now the Owls...I dislike Owls. They give me the creeps. The whole talons, and super stealth like quietness, and feeding at dark is too much like a vampire, and hey, anyone who has seen the Excorcist can't really feel comfortable with what an Owl can do with their heads. And then what they say, "WHO" I mean for me, that is way to close to "WHY" and I hate hearing that question nine hundred million times a day, so a stinking vampire-exorcist asking that question all day gives me those back twitching feelings of unease.

Maureen, this has me laughing so hard!!! You are a nut! :rotfl2:

:lmao: O-wee O-wee!

Yep!!! That's it!!!!!
:lmao: :lmao:

This is how our niece use to say Corey. Heather always said she sounded just like a guinnea pig!!! We are her aunts and love her to pieces, so we can say things like that!

After I unpacked and such, I decided to make something for Becca and her mom, Mandy. I just feel so awful for them and all they're going through. I wanted to do something for the father, but couldn't think of anything. :confused3

Anyway, I made these yesterday and shipped them out today to the Ronald McDonald house.

I made this pillowcase using Becca's favorite colors:
th_109_640x426.jpg

th_108_640x426.jpg

I made this messenger bag for her mom. I got the pattern from ycmt. I wasn't crazy about it, though. I bought it because I thought it would be better put together than the ones in the bookmarks and I wanted to make it quickly. But, there weren't enough pictures and there were a few important typos (like it said to turn it inside out when it meant right side out). I really had to study it to get it right, but it did turn out well.

It has her name on the front, but it doesn't show up very well with the busy fabric.

th_117_320x480.jpg

th_118_640x426.jpg

Oh Heather, that is so sweet!!! And you put all her favorite colors in it!!! I can't believe you finished this already!!!

I love Mandy's bag, that fabric is just gorgeous!!!
As for the pattern, they can't ALL be CarlaC!!!

I think the only thing listed for David on the Big Give sheet is that he likes Herbie (the car). I was trying to think of something to do for him too.

I just posted an update on Becca tonight, and things are starting to look more encouraging!

Welcome home to all you who are coming home from WDW.
We loved seeing the pics of the meet!

So, my camera battery is dead and wouldn't you know we can't find the charging cord, but thats what cell phones are for right?
So these are off my phone.
She finally cooperated... kind of, but you can see the skirt on her.
vskirt1.jpg
vskirt2.jpg

She is on her third pair of shoes for the day in these pics... she started with black mary janes, then decided she wanted her boots, and by this point is in the pink mary janes :)
The skirt hits below her knees... I am wondering if we will get two Valentines our of it, we will have to wait and see.

Both kids are sick, I am hoping she will get to wear it to our church valentines day breakfast tomorrow but we will see how they are feeling.

How cute is she!!!! The skirt looks adorable on her! I hope the kids feel better soon!

Im just back from my fabric shop. I got some cute red polka dots to go with some fairytale fabric I found at WalMart.

How many people do the innerlining on the simply sweet?
I figured I would for this one since the "fashion fabric" I have is quite thin and slightly see thru, so I bought muslin for the inner fabric and a white on white for the lining fabric.

here is the main fabric I plan to use.
62725%20X%20zoom(1).jpg

Grrr....Megan insisted on being the one to put the dogs in our bedroom, so I let her. Well when I got home I realized she LOCKED them in!!!! I have no way of opening the door and I'm too big, not to mention my pubic bone hurts to much for me to wrangle myself thru anymore windows. Sooo. I have no way of napping- which I really need, our couch is too squishy, I can, and probably will lay down on it, but I know I will be in worse shape when I go to get up. The dogs are now stuck in the bedroom til 7 tonight. My poor senior lab....

I love that fabric!!!

I never put the inerlining on the Simply Sweet dress. I probably should try doing that someday, but so far I haven't felt compelled to! I hear that it lays nicer that way though.

I neglected to mention how dissapointed I am in you all! I thought there'd be a new thread by the time I returned!

We were just waiting for you Heather!

Here is Jenna's finished Valentine's outfit. I made her the shirt to match. I just used a red shirt that she already had. I didn't do anything to the hem of the skirt. I just hemmed it. The pink leggings are courtesy of Linnette. Thank you again Linnette.

Crystal, these are so cute! I absolutely love the white one!! I keep thinknig I'd like to make the girls a nice whit dress with a pretty sash like that.

Jenna looks so adorable in these pictures!!! What a cutie!
Hi Everyone,

Such cute outfits posted!!! WOW that Easter dress is just beautiful!!!

Update on Daniel (thanks for asking) - well, he continues will the radiation and chemo and OT, PT and Speech. He now has a "talker" to help with some simple words when attempting to communicate - this really breaks my heart for him - he is getting just downright ANGRY that people cant understand him. He is also getting very very angry with his 2 little brothers (both were special needs adoptions and have autism, ADD, and possibly mental health issues). They of course dont understand why Daniel isnt regular old Daniel rigiht now and there is a LOT of frustration on both parts. I think the boys are jealous of Daniel getting to spend so much time with their Daddy and also that Daniel doesnt have to go to school - they just dont understand at all. Daniel's double vision also continues to be an issue (double vison) that is frustrating for him.

On a real positive note, his cute boyscout troop is planning a fundraiser !!! They got one of the big guys from Channel 6 Action News to be the MC for the night and are going to have a silent auction and a dinner!!! This will be soooooo helpful for the family, they are struggling with just daily life things...they have 5 kids who continue to grow, a mortgage and all the other bills to contend with....and they are living on unemployment....

All in all, we are very happy that he is doing well medically and pray that he finishes out radiation in the next 2 weeks with flying colors!!!YAY!!

Thank you for the update Wendy. I feel so bad for Daniel and his family. This has to be such a horrible time for them.

Wow, what is the long term prognosis for him??

My Dad started his radiation this week and it's painful for him to get on the table for it, and painful during the radiation and then to get off table, he goes home and throws up- Mom says it's from the pain, not the radiation. She apologized to me that she couldnt be here to take care of Megan so we could go away for the weekend (a plan that was discussed and forgotten a while ago). No one seems to be asking how much time these treatments will give him, I guess all the focus is on reducing his pain right now. Based on how hes moving and living now, I would guess my Dad may or may not be here for our new baby's 1st Birthday, and that's really hard to accept that this child will never know her Grampy.
My mobility is becoming more limited and I volunteered to do a homevisit this weekend- I have not idea WHY. This will be the last one for quite a while.

I'm so sorry about your Dad.

Thanks so much for asking -actually the boyscouts just set up a website - http://helpfordaniel.pledgepage.org/ .....you will see that Daniel is just a regular kid!! We totally appreciate the prayers!!! They mean so much!

Thank you for the website Wendy!! And incase anyone wants to know, there is a place where you can click to just donate money through Paypal. :thumbsup2

I'm not normally one to ask for prayers but since y'all are so good at it...I'm asking. My next door neighbor's daughter is in the Navy. Kristine

Oh, Kristine, that is just horrible! I'm so sorry.
Awww I will continue to pray for Daniel and his family!!!! What a trooper he is!!! He needs to be granted a MAW trip when he is feeling better and then we can all work on a Big Give for him!! :goodvibes
.
That is exactly what I was thinking Beth!

I have been busily sewing as usual and am just lurking every now and then.
I LOVE the april showers Vida! I forgot who posted it. It is just precious.
I lost a bunch of my quotes. My firefox keeps crashing and I hate IE. I can make my firefox pink so I stick with it.

I am still in shock. I thought I'd feel physically more different, but feel mostly normal - some mild cramping, so I thought I was going to get my monthly visitor, but nope. . . I have to get to a doctor to "confirm" and all that still, so maybe there will be less shock then. In terms of what I'm gonna make, I dunno yet! But believe me, it was one of the first fe things I thought of. I have been sewing for everyone else's babies for over a year, and no I will, through the grace of God, have my own to sew for!
Congrats to you! How amazing that you are going to have a little one!

Here are few more things. :)

Love everything! I adore the Mary Poppins dress. That applique is just stunning. That is great that you were able to get 2 dresses out of it!
My DD loves the monster dress. I have some of that door fabric. I need to make something with it. She wants an eye dress now! LOL

Here are a couple of photos from our trip.

We all had a great time, and Leighanna got LOTS of attention from all the customs I made.
Leighanna is beautiful in all of the things you made her, Tom! Glad you guys had such a great time. She must have stood out in those crowds. ;)

I just made my daughter a Valentine dress by altering Carla C's stripwork jumper from youcanmakethis.com. It wasn't difficult to alter and her patterns are very versatile.

Here's the dress:
th_DSC00714.jpg
Very cute!!! I was wondering about altering the stripwork to not be a stripwork. I am wondering if it is the same as the simply sweet then?

Here are a couple quick shots of my DD in her Valentine's Day outfit. The jumper top is a little too big on her but I guiess that is better than being too small, right? LOL.

Close up of the embroidered hearts on the pants.....I added the word "LOVE" next to each one too. Hard to tell in this picture.
LOVE the V-day dress! Your piping is beautiful! You did such a great job.

I finally took some pictures of all the things I have finished in the last month or so. We head to Disney at the end of next month and I think I am finished sewing. I have some bows to make and maybe a tee or two for the adults in the group but the kids clothes are finished. Well, I may or may not embellished some shorts for my youngest with the same material used for his shirts. Here goes:

Here are my oldest son's array of shirts. He is 6.5 and seems to be really excited that I would do this for him. He is so cute!
th_IMG_0290.jpg

Next up is what I finally decided on for our dinner at the Wilderness Lodge. However after reading a few trip reports I sure hope our experience is better.
th_IMG_0291.jpg

Here is the final outfit for Ainsley, I repurposed a pair of jeans that were too short and made them into capris and also did the skirt. She can wear whichever.
th_IMG_0294.jpg

My youngest son is 2 and doesn't really care what he wears but seems to get really excited when he sees his shirts. "Mine?, mine?"
th_IMG_0295.jpg

The Leo tee is the one I am most proud of, it was the most complicated applique I have done to date. I think it turned out great and the best thing is that Jack LOVES it!

Now to go work on Monster trucks !!!!!!! Boys Gotta love them !:woohoo:

Your children are adorable!!! Must be hard to make 3 outfits all for one holiday.
So I was thinking this morning that maybe instead of just posting a few random pics and post maybe I should let you guys get to know me:confused3... Hello! I'm Tina I am a stay-at-home mom to a 2 year old DD and a wifey. I currently live in Silvis IL. But was raised in Virginia beach Where I meet my hubby when I was working as a Hair Stylist. We ended up moving to Longveiw TX for a year before coming to IL. I would say I like it here but that would be a lie! I have not adjusted well with people or the area. Which has put a damper on my moods! It is very lonely not knowing anyone or having Family around. So I am very excited to be going to WDW in march with my family, parents, and my brother and his family! I have been sewing off and on since I was in middle school. I am not great by any means but my DH family is very impressed with my ability to look at something and then remake it. My family has always been crafty so to me its just another thing? I have a goal to work out and sew and keep my house spotless:lmao: and be the best mom and wife I can be but untill I figure out how to make my body do what my mind wants I am just here. Ok so neways! I just love that I found this board it keeps me excited and a place to feel at home. Thank you for letting me be a part of your group!
Nice to meet you!
I'm Kira.

I think stripwork would be your best bet. Here is my daughter's Valentines dress that I made in about 2 hours last night (very last minute) (watching american idol on and off). It came out pretty cute and she loves it. Today is her Valentines Day at school.

How sweet! I LOVE the bows! They match the V-day dress I made!! hehe!

So, I had to share with you all. If you get a chance try to get out and take advantage of the Presidents weekend sales. The stores were a bit crazy but it was so worth it! I just love a good sale!
Wow, I would love to hit up gymbo in New Orleans, but it would be terribly hard with all the parades!! The weather is horrible here atm too.
I need to hit some deals like you did!

Fabric- anywhere that carries Springs. This is Mary Englebreit.
you can view the line at www.cranstonvillage.com then search for VIP, then "Infant/Juvenile"

They have it listed as 62725X
Heres a companion fabric
62727%20G%20zoom(1).jpg

I dont know where to buy it, but this site shows it to you. Theres no # on the fabric that I see.
also says www.maryengelbreit.com on the fabric
I paid $4.44 a yd
That is adorable. I wonder if that fabric is better quality than the springs stuff at Wal Mart? Some of it is really scratchy.

Here is Jenna's finished Valentine's outfit. I made her the shirt to match. I just used a red shirt that she already had. I didn't do anything to the hem of the skirt. I just hemmed it. The pink leggings are courtesy of Linnette. Thank you again Linnette.

Wow!!! You have been busy! Jenna looks adorable in her customs. I love the V-day ouftit you made. Did you make the sash on the Easter dress? It almost looks like a really wide satin ribbon, but I saw the stitching ont he back.

Just stopping by to say hi from WDW! We are having a mostly great time, especially once I get my caffeine flowing in the morning :rolleyes1 Some days have seemed a little busier than others. Yesterday at MK was not bad at all :confused3 Today at Epcot was a little busier. The weather has been gorgeous, not a drop of rain. It's a tad warm though, we no longer need jackets, even at night. I did catch a few dismeet pics, Cindee..stop posting horrible pictures of me, and you need to PM me that picture of Jayden. I'm very curious! I had so much fun meeting everyone! I wish I'd made it to China a little earlier so I could've chatted a little more with everyone. Kristine, that picture of the boys and Tessa is soooo funny! I did not think Luke would actually get jealous but he really did! Hopefully we will see Dallas again this trip. They really do get along very well. I need sleep. I think we're off to MK tomorrow and dinner at Ohana. Lily has been a little angel. The other 3 have had their moments...Lily's favorite ride so far is TOT. Yes, I have the photo. And yes, she is 40" (in most shoes, not so sure about her chucks).
Glad you are having such a great time!

It looks great. You surely are progressing with your sewing very fast!

Here are my most recent customs. The boy's set is one I had in my unfinished project pile for a few weeks because I was struggling with the knit of the tee. I'm so glad I got it done finally.

th_characters1.jpg

This is another Vida... I still use that pattern a lot! I bought the owl print for another project but couldn't resist using some of it for a dress. The appliques were a lot of fun to do.

I have a couple of pics of the boys' valentines shirts. They were a huge hit at the party we went to this morning.

The boys in their Valentine's Day shirts, don't they look sooooo excited
Okay, now a question, my machine died. The timing is off, so the needle thread won't pic up the bobbin thread. I don't want to fix it because it wasn't a nice machine to begin with and I would rather upgrade. I'm looking to spend around $300, so I know I can't get an embroidery machine, but can anyone recommend a machine in this price range?
I would recommend that you get a factory refurb machine. I got a great deal on my Brother PC-6000. It is a dream to sew on, and it is in that price range if you find a good deal. ;)
The boys are adorable! My DD wants to know if that is her baby brother.... She has been asking for one. :lmao:

Sorry to keep cutting everyones pictures. It takes me too long to actually post all the stuff I multi quote!

Thank you!
I had so little fabric to work with (1/2 yard) so I was looking for a skirt that wasn't to full.
It was in THE bookmark list.... I think it was called a 5 minute skirt, the style is A-line and if memory serves its from a web site called Angry Chicken???? I hope that is enough info to get to you the right place.
It took me way longer than 5 minutes, but I was sizing it for a 2 year old and adding a ruffle, etc. and the 2 year old wanted to help ;)

Found the link....

Nice! Thanks for the link. I have yet to make a skirt for my DD. Nice to know it can be done with little fabric.:yay:

Here are some pictures of an LSU dress I made Hannah. I made this quite some time ago, and it has fit her for a really long time. It has some purple/gold/white gingham check bloomers to go with it, but I couldn't find them!!
She wore it tonight because I thought I could get away with that for Mardi Gras. We went to a Mardi Gras parade. She had a blast!! The parade theme was "At the Movies". It might have well just been "Disney". Almost all of the floats were disney themed. If they weren't filled with drunken men it would have been a little better. :confused3 Some of them were too drunk to even throw any beads. My DD did NOT enjoy the floats that just passed by that were just pouring beer on each other and stuff like that! She kept saying "They don't like me!".
Poor thing!
We also got rained on a good bit. I usually don't do parades in the rain, but my Hannah LOVES parades!
I snapped these pictures when we came home. I didn't want to get my camera rained on!

Oh, and I sewed some quick snaps on because my covered buttons became uncovered! I haven't had a chance to redo them yet.

smockedtiger2.jpg

IMG_3363.jpg

I'll be posting my Mardi Gras and Valentine's outfit soon. Probably going to try to take pictures at the parades. I wish you ladies could have seen the beautiful Disney floats! I should have brought my camera even though it rained! :sad2:

btw - bows are by JenWDW! Thanks Jen!! I'll post better pictures of them with the outfit they were intended for!

Those are great ,,,sorry about the rainy weather

I'm not normally one to ask for prayers but since y'all are so good at it...I'm asking. My next door neighbor's daughter is in the Navy. Last night two uniformed Naval officers showed up at their front door :sad1: To make matters 1000 times worse, turns out that she was murdered by her boyfriend on the base in Virginia. My DH and his sister grew up with her so his family is taking the news very hard. Please keep them (and of course her family) in your prayers this weekend

Thanks gang :grouphug:

So I just started an applique shirt for DD. I still need to make the eyes bigger and add whiskers. Tell me what you think!

Thanks for the update. That is great he is improving. continued prayers for Daniel and his family. hopefully some how his siblings will understand why things are different right now. It has to be so hard on them well on everyone but you know what I mean.
Wonderful about the boy scout troop!

 Hopefully your day will be around much longer then you are thinking. Continued prayers for your family.

Thanks so much for asking -actually the boyscouts just set up a website - http://helpfordaniel.pledgepage.org/ .....you will see that Daniel is just a regular kid!! We totally appreciate the prayers!!! They mean so much!
What a beautiful little boy he is!

It was like this for nearly two hours, and then extremely heavy rain for the rest of the afternoon. I love it! Except I have no firewood...:(

Looks great!
That is very sad. T&P for the family.

I have no idea where this pose came from :confused3

very cute! Look at that little supermodel pose! I top stitched one of those skirts I made and not the other one. I want to see which washes better.

I'll post better pictures of them with the outfit they were intended for!
so cute! that smile! I would love to see pictures of the parades!

I am almost done with my nieces dress I just can't get motivated this week to do anything! I hate this feeling!

My friend made Grace a smocked dress with that same fabric. It is a bishop angel sleeve. I love the dress you made with it.

I love Hannah's dress. It is too cute. I would love to see your Mardi Gras dress for her. I am working on Jenna's dress a little today and hopefully will finish it tonight.

Thanks! I am still very new to sewing and happy when something comes out right.

Def let me know how the one you didn't top stitch washes. I washed and tumble dried Kaedyn's skirt this morning. (She got some choc syrup on it yesterday). It washed really well. I was surprised. There was a little bit of gather (if that is what you call it) in the lining. It looks like my cutting may not have been perfect and there is a little more lining fabric than the fashion fabric. It didn't cause any problems. I just ironed towards the yolk.

She decided to wear it again today to Grandma's house. She must have liked it!
