Hi all! I'm new here and am blown away by some of your customs! Is there anywhere on here that you list them to sell? I'm looking for a few things for my 18m old for our sept. trip. In particular, someone posted an outfit towards the beginning of this thread. It was pink tank top with capris and I think it had two mickey heads on it? I think they were making it for someone else's child. Anyways, this thread is way too long for me to read through and look at everyone's etsy and ebay links. Is there not some central location for that info? thanks so much! You all are very talented!

Sent you a PM.

Thanks! I can't PM you back because sadly, I don't have enough posts yet! That will change soon though!

Im just back from my fabric shop. I got some cute red polka dots to go with some fairytale fabric I found at WalMart.

How many people do the innerlining on the simply sweet?
I figured I would for this one since the "fashion fabric" I have is quite thin and slightly see thru, so I bought muslin for the inner fabric and a white on white for the lining fabric.

here is the main fabric I plan to use.

Grrr....Megan insisted on being the one to put the dogs in our bedroom, so I let her. Well when I got home I realized she LOCKED them in!!!! I have no way of opening the door and I'm too big, not to mention my pubic bone hurts to much for me to wrangle myself thru anymore windows. Sooo. I have no way of napping- which I really need, our couch is too squishy, I can, and probably will lay down on it, but I know I will be in worse shape when I go to get up. The dogs are now stuck in the bedroom til 7 tonight. My poor senior lab....

Love this fabric!!! I haven't bought any fabric in a long time -something to do with me not sewing LOL. However I think I have to have this fabric!!

Here are some pictures of an LSU dress I made Hannah. I made this quite some time ago, and it has fit her for a really long time. It has some purple/gold/white gingham check bloomers to go with it, but I couldn't find them!!
She wore it tonight because I thought I could get away with that for Mardi Gras. We went to a Mardi Gras parade. She had a blast!! The parade theme was "At the Movies". It might have well just been "Disney". Almost all of the floats were disney themed. If they weren't filled with drunken men it would have been a little better. :confused3 Some of them were too drunk to even throw any beads. My DD did NOT enjoy the floats that just passed by that were just pouring beer on each other and stuff like that! She kept saying "They don't like me!".
Poor thing!
We also got rained on a good bit. I usually don't do parades in the rain, but my Hannah LOVES parades!
I snapped these pictures when we came home. I didn't want to get my camera rained on!

Oh, and I sewed some quick snaps on because my covered buttons became uncovered! I haven't had a chance to redo them yet.

I'll be posting my Mardi Gras and Valentine's outfit soon. Probably going to try to take pictures at the parades. I wish you ladies could have seen the beautiful Disney floats! I should have brought my camera even though it rained! :sad2:

btw - bows are by JenWDW! Thanks Jen!! I'll post better pictures of them with the outfit they were intended for!

Adorable outfit - and you're welcome

What a cute little dress. I know someone who would love that smocked insert too!

You were reading my mind! I think she would LOVE it too. :)

Great minds - I've already sent her a message to check it out LOL

Quick question, where is the best place online to purchase Michael Miller fabrics or where do you all get yours (if you do)? I guess I want the best price! :rotfl: I know he can be kind of pricey but I have fallen in love with the ice-cream, kitten and kiddie pirate patterns....and much more! I found most of them on ebay but before I make the investment I figured I would ask here. Thanks!

I have purchased through co-ops before. I saved $1.00 - $1.50/yard. I realized quickly, however, that I would prefer to pay the extra to get the fabric when I want it rather than waiting for the bolt to fill or never filling at all. When I want something that I can't find at my local quilt shop, I go to www.quiltshops.com

Thank you! I am going to be on quiltshops.com for the next two hours!!! I found everything I was looking for so far and I love it! What a great site! I agree with you, somethimes it's worth a little extra to not wait for it. I am getting so anxious for the patterns I ordered from the farbenmix co-op. I don't have the felix or the vida and I am dying to get them! So I have to wait :) . Thanks again!

AH HA . . . those were the Mardi Gras bows. :)

LISA!!!! I love your Mickey. OMG it makes me almost want to have a boy. Okay feelings gone. ;)

LOL, I get those feelings about babies in general sometimes. Luckily I have a 4 month old nephew that I watch once a week that is just enough of a 'fix' to satisfy me.

OMG LISA!!!!! I wish I could tell you how many times I have said, "One day I am going to own a Lisa Zoe origional!" I keep hoping to, because you flat out amaze me! That Mickey sticking his tongue out would have been so perfect for my boys when they were younger. I mean spot on perfect for them! ( They are 16 and 12 now, and I can't see them in customs...but oh how I wish!!!!)

Now the Owls...I dislike Owls. They give me the creeps. The whole talons, and super stealth like quietness, and feeding at dark is too much like a vampire, and hey, anyone who has seen the Excorcist can't really feel comfortable with what an Owl can do with their heads. And then what they say, "WHO" I mean for me, that is way to close to "WHY" and I hate hearing that question nine hundred million times a day, so a stinking vampire-exorcist asking that question all day gives me those back twitching feelings of unease. HOWEVER....I kinda like your set:)

I decided to do the characters pulling faces after trying to get some photos of Zoe and some friends. It seemed at least one kid in each photo was being silly.

It's OK to not like owls... or something I've made. :goodvibes I had a collection of owl stuff when I was in my 'tweens' so couldn't resist the owl fabric when I was it. I don't really understand why they are so popular right now nor when I collected them. (My mom made me a top with fabric that had owls on it with a dark purple background - my favorite color with my favorite animal.)

here is the main fabric I plan to use.

That is cute fabric! I look forward to seeing what you make with it.

I've gotten myself involved in another little project...
I need two appliques for cheerleader outfits - High School Musical

Any ideas?? I can't even find a good picture online, but I think it's just the letters EHS.

Help, please!

Which HMS do you need? I did this for Zoe for Halloween based on the HMS 3 cheerleader outfits.

Here's the drawing I did for it:

Yeah button holes stink.....!!! LOL. I do the same thing, in fact I have a Christmas outfit I never finished because I never did the buttons. :scared1: Maybe by next year I can find the courage to do some dang buttons. Good thing is the outfit was way too big anyway....LOL....should fit next year!

I hated to do button holes but in November/December I probably did a couple hundred for items on Etsy and now I'm so much more confident. I think you should just sit down some time when you have half an hour or so and make as many as you can. Honestly, I would panic in the past when I had to do one and now it's just part of the routine. I've even learned how to sew on buttons with my machine! Gotta love THAT. :rotfl:

Oh my golly...I LOVE this one!!!! love love love it!!! I need something like that for my son!!! Too stinkin' cute! Where do you find all these amazing clip arts????

Of the ones for the silly faces set, Goofy is the only one that came directly from clip art (disneyclips.com I think). The others I drew myself although I did use images of the characters as a starting point.

I usually search on quiltshops.com and check prices of all the shops that have the print I want. Don't forget to factor in the cost of shipping. Sometimes paying a little more per yard it a better deal if you can get all the prints you want from one shop and save on shipping.

I agree with Shannon about the fabric co-ops. Some are very well organized and run smoothly but even the best organized seems to take so long to get the orders gathered, placed and then shipped to the members. When I decide I want fabric, I don't want wait more than a few days for it to arrive. Also I can often find the same prints on quiltshops.com for close to the same price as a co-op (or even less) with a smaller minimum yardage and no waiting.

LOL! We all thought the same thing!!

I have that faric and hopefully it will be my next project.

I'm not normally one to ask for prayers but since y'all are so good at it...I'm asking. My next door neighbor's daughter is in the Navy. Last night two uniformed Naval officers showed up at their front door :sad1: To make matters 1000 times worse, turns out that she was murdered by her boyfriend on the base in Virginia. My DH and his sister grew up with her so his family is taking the news very hard. Please keep them (and of course her family) in your prayers this weekend

Thanks gang :grouphug:
Kristine
I will absolutely be praying for her family and your's!!

Thanks all for the prayers. Everyone is doing a little bit better this morning now that the shock is wearing off. They are a little nervous about the media showing up once the news gets ahold of where she was from. Her mom and dad are besides themselves and truly want to believe that this was a bad accident- despite the news reports and the charges. Whatever gets them through it...right??? Their son has disabled their computer so they won't drive themselves nuts checking out the news reports online. I think when it's a NCIS investigation- they aren't allowed to provide the family with much information about the case.

Anyway, thanks again everyone. You guys are the best :grouphug:

SEWING MACHINE HELPPPPPP!!!!

Hi Guys, my old Kennmore is acting up!! I've cleaned, oiled dusted it etc, and that got rid of the squeak it was doing, but something is off with the tension, and I cant figure it out....

I can do the thread thing with the bobbin in the case (hold it by the string, shake it a bit and it goes down a little bit before it stops) and have adjusted the top tension everywhich way as well!!

What it happening is the top looks pretty okay, but underneath looks like a straight line with loops over it...??????:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

DH thinks it might be time for it to have a professional look at it - but i want to sew today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I was thinking this morning that maybe instead of just posting a few random pics and post maybe I should let you guys get to know me:confused3... Hello! I'm Tina I am a stay-at-home mom to a 2 year old DD and a wifey. I currently live in Silvis IL. But was raised in Virginia beach Where I meet my hubby when I was working as a Hair Stylist.

Welcome! My SIL lives in VA Beach, we visit a lot. Hope you can make it back one day.

So I've been lurking, nursing and sewing when I can. I just about finished the Minnie Simply Sweet for DD2. Just needed her to try it on so I could place the buttons for the straps. She won't put it on and says "its yucky." Once again, DD9 says "I want it." Hopefully DD2 will come around as the cruise gets closer, its way too short for DD9. Anyway, I had her model it for the photos! Besides altering the straps I also lined the skirt so I could add the black ruffle. You can't tell from the photo but the red dot layer's hem is finished with the yellow bias tape and the black ruffle is attached to the lining.

IMG_6287.jpg

This is how I intend on finishing the straps. I'm going to put buttons on the inside that will function and hope to put big yellow buttons on the outside (on top of elastic) for looks.

IMG_6289.jpg

This is how DD9 wants to wear it! Would make my life a little easier but she would need some sort of shorts or something under the skirt if she is going to wear it.

Oh I should mention... I cased the hanging minnie head from (I think) Tom. Tom, hope you don't mind? :worship: DD2 originally wanted me to applique the head to the bodice but I was too nervous to try it. She told me this after the bodice was put together. When I saw Tom's dress, I thought it was genious! Still didn't help with her wearing the dress. :confused3

Thanks! I can't PM you back because sadly, I don't have enough posts yet! That will change soon though!
You can check out our group Photobucket account, and if you see anything you like, contact that person.

This is really cute!!! You could just have your daughter wear a regular pair of shorts under it and call it good!
