Im just back from my fabric shop. I got some cute red polka dots to go with some fairytale fabric I found at WalMart.

How many people do the innerlining on the simply sweet?
I figured I would for this one since the "fashion fabric" I have is quite thin and slightly see thru, so I bought muslin for the inner fabric and a white on white for the lining fabric.

here is the main fabric I plan to use.

Grrr....Megan insisted on being the one to put the dogs in our bedroom, so I let her. Well when I got home I realized she LOCKED them in!!!! I have no way of opening the door and I'm too big, not to mention my pubic bone hurts to much for me to wrangle myself thru anymore windows. Sooo. I have no way of napping- which I really need, our couch is too squishy, I can, and probably will lay down on it, but I know I will be in worse shape when I go to get up. The dogs are now stuck in the bedroom til 7 tonight. My poor senior lab....

minnievanmom- you and my husband mentioned the "little hole" thing- but theres no hole on these locks.....maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are probably from 1955....

I think when DD wakes up I am going to take her out on the deck and lower her thru the window and tell her to go open the door- all she has to do is turn the knob and it will "Pop" unlocked.
IT WORKED- She was able to open, and thus, unlock the door!!

Jessie my 7yr old cried a minute ago- I just told her "shhh" my older dog is so good- she never complains.

I do love this fabric- but it is thin- you wouldnt know it if you ordered it online. It's a "Springs" I find the quality isnt has nice as other brands, but they sure do make cute stuff!

Fabric- anywhere that carries Springs. This is Mary Englebreit.
you can view the line at www.cranstonvillage.com then search for VIP, then "Infant/Juvenile"

They have it listed as 62725X
Heres a companion fabric
62727%20G%20zoom(1).jpg

I dont know where to buy it, but this site shows it to you. Theres no # on the fabric that I see.
also says www.maryengelbreit.com on the fabric
I paid $4.44 a yd

I love these fabrics!~ I may have to break my "No buy" rule and get these for Back to School for the Fall!

You got to love 7 year olds.

I have a couple of pics of the boys' valentines shirts. They were a huge hit at the party we went to this morning.

Okay, now a question, my machine died. The timing is off, so the needle thread won't pic up the bobbin thread. I don't want to fix it because it wasn't a nice machine to begin with and I would rather upgrade. I'm looking to spend around $300, so I know I can't get an embroidery machine, but can anyone recommend a machine in this price range?
These are so cute!

Hi Everyone,

Such cute outfits posted!!! WOW that Easter dress is just beautiful!!!

Update on Daniel (thanks for asking) - well, he continues will the radiation and chemo and OT, PT and Speech. He now has a "talker" to help with some simple words when attempting to communicate - this really breaks my heart for him - he is getting just downright ANGRY that people cant understand him. He is also getting very very angry with his 2 little brothers (both were special needs adoptions and have autism, ADD, and possibly mental health issues). They of course dont understand why Daniel isnt regular old Daniel rigiht now and there is a LOT of frustration on both parts. I think the boys are jealous of Daniel getting to spend so much time with their Daddy and also that Daniel doesnt have to go to school - they just dont understand at all. Daniel's double vision also continues to be an issue (double vison) that is frustrating for him.

On a real positive note, his cute boyscout troop is planning a fundraiser !!! They got one of the big guys from Channel 6 Action News to be the MC for the night and are going to have a silent auction and a dinner!!! This will be soooooo helpful for the family, they are struggling with just daily life things...they have 5 kids who continue to grow, a mortgage and all the other bills to contend with....and they are living on unemployment....

All in all, we are very happy that he is doing well medically and pray that he finishes out radiation in the next 2 weeks with flying colors!!!YAY!!

Around the door, is some quarter round, or other thin molding. We used a thin knife and tapped it in between the quarter round and the door jamb. We could then push a longer knife into the space and pop the door open. Later we tacked it back down and painted it.

I got a machine that had been traded in for an upgrade. I think I only paid $300 for it. It's a good sturdy machine and I don't worry about hitting pins or using my ruffler with it. It's got a great needle threader to! My mothers had her basic Janome for years.

Wow, what is the long term prognosis for him??

My Dad started his radiation this week and it's painful for him to get on the table for it, and painful during the radiation and then to get off table, he goes home and throws up- Mom says it's from the pain, not the radiation. She apologized to me that she couldnt be here to take care of Megan so we could go away for the weekend (a plan that was discussed and forgotten a while ago). No one seems to be asking how much time these treatments will give him, I guess all the focus is on reducing his pain right now. Based on how hes moving and living now, I would guess my Dad may or may not be here for our new baby's 1st Birthday, and that's really hard to accept that this child will never know her Grampy.
My mobility is becoming more limited and I volunteered to do a homevisit this weekend- I have not idea WHY. This will be the last one for quite a while.

Make sure you keep us up to date so that we may contribute to the fundraiser. I am not to far away and would love to make a donation. Hopefully it will help take a little bit of stress away from the bills.

Thanks so much for asking -actually the boyscouts just set up a website - http://helpfordaniel.pledgepage.org/ .....you will see that Daniel is just a regular kid!! We totally appreciate the prayers!!! They mean so much!

It breaks my heart to hear stories like Daniel's. I will pray for him and his family. You are such a wonderful and caring person Wendy and I think it's wonderful that you are reaching out to help as much as you can. :thumbsup2

TInkaBell- those outfits and dresses are GREAT!! I love the eyelit white one! It's so beautiful and the bow sash is such an amazing compliment to it!

I'm not normally one to ask for prayers but since y'all are so good at it...I'm asking. My next door neighbor's daughter is in the Navy. Last night two uniformed Naval officers showed up at their front door :sad1: To make matters 1000 times worse, turns out that she was murdered by her boyfriend on the base in Virginia. My DH and his sister grew up with her so his family is taking the news very hard. Please keep them (and of course her family) in your prayers this weekend

Thanks gang :grouphug:

So many super cute things posted.

Well since you complimented me ;) (btw, I also apparently remind Heather and your mom of your relative Myrna????...still hoping that you guys LIKE that relative)

Here is a peek at my meet pics. The rest you will have to wait until I get everything loaded into Photobucket so I can start my TR

This is when things were going well...

I saw them at WDW. I might have just been confused or something but I think you buy them blind. I don't think you can pick which one you buy.

We will keep the family and yours in our prayers.

Your shirts are just perfect. I love the fabric and was thinking it would be good for AK. I am sorry, don't have a clue about new machines.

Thanks, I'm pleased with the way they turned out! I also thought they would be perfect for AK and my DH really likes the black with animal print accent, so I'm making one for him and I'll have enough of the animal print left to make a tank for me. We could all match!

I think I'm going to be sick. This is just so... SAD!

AbbyGrace wore her Valentine's Day dress to school today. It was a huge hit. The teachers apparently were all talking about it. One of the teachers walked her out to the van and went on and on about her dress. I'm glad it was a hit! NOW! On to Easter. I've got a few Disney things going on, too. We don't have a trip planned that will include my DD, but I can't help myself. I have to get my fix!

I made this pillowcase using Becca's favorite colors:

This is a wonderful idea. I'm sure they'll love them.

The skirt looks very cute.

I love this fabric! I'm definitely going to have to go search for it.

Too cute. Your boys look like sweeties. The shirts are very fun.

These are all adorable. The white Easter dress is beautiful. I like the new ycmt dress. I really like the back.

I will keep praying for him. I'll pray for his health, as well as dealing with all the emotional frustrations and difficulties. It's so sad what some children have to go through, that even as an adult I can't imagine having to deal with. Thank God for their resiliency both physically and emotionally!!

My Dad started his radiation this week and it's painful for him to get on the table for it, and painful during the radiation and then to get off table, he goes home and throws up- Mom says it's from the pain, not the radiation. That's such a tragedy. I'm so sorry to hear it. Prayers all around, today.

Thank you! Your daughter looks so cute! I Love the outfit and the hearts! I didn't have much of a selection because I went to joanns like 2 days before Valentines day. There was the bears (that I used), The skunk (that I used), and some lips on black. That was about it!

About the sash. I think that's the pattern I used for the headband, big beautiful bows. It was so easy to use and to modify for the amount of fabric I had. I noticed the jumper runs a bit big  so I downsized and have been using the halter top (in the simply sweet pattern) because of the elastic in the back. They seem to fit much nicer (for my tiny daughter).
Thank you so much!!! Sometimes I wait til the last minute and have the same problem trying to find the "right" fabric. This time I got the Valentine fabric early enough...yeah!

I have not tried the simply sweet pattern yet...I will have to give that a try.

Icheck out Carla's free tutorial to understand bartacking. (its the top and bottom of the button hole) and its what will add stability to your buttonholes, and keep them from splitting open further with use. You might consider using fray check at least on the back of your handmade buttonholes
and dont feel ashamed!!! Im sure theres a ton I dont know about sewing too.
:goodvibes Awww that makes sense now...thank you so much!!! I do have to check out that tutorial.

Oh my goodness this is just too funny!!!!

I just made my daughter a Valentine dress by altering Carla C's stripwork jumper from youcanmakethis.com. It wasn't difficult to alter and her patterns are very versatile.

Here's the dress:

Hope that helps!
That turned out so cute!

Ugh.... OK just have to have a mini vent non sewing related. (sorry) I just got off the phone with Ex-dh (soon to be) Can you believe it will be a year next month. Lately I have been really sad and depressed about the whole thing. On Georgia's birthday it was super hard since we did it together. but we played nice for the Peach. But it just made it that much more difficult you know playing happy family then going to different homes. Just sucks, specially since I was not the one who wanted this split. Even though I know its for the best, doesnt make it any easier. Tomorrow is the Special person's day at school, she picked her dad. Which I think is great. Because I am here and I get to do the school things with her so its nice he is taking the time off to do this with her. But just another "happy unfamily family" moment. Then they are gonna go home to his home. In which I do not have a problem with because she needs to see her dad. That has nothing to do with me being sad. I wish he could spend time with her during the week. My sad comes from being alone. I hate it. and Im not looking for anyone, but at the same time I dont know what to do with myself. These long weekends kill me. Nothing to do with Valentines day as an adult I never celebrated it myself (I think love should be daily not just one day) she has monday off too. My roomie is out of town so no distraction there, and all my friends (the few I have locally) are off with their special people. Just makes me sad.

Ok mini vent over...sorry for being a whinner. Back to cutting and sewing!
Awww I am sorry you are going through some rough times. Major hugs to you!!!

Just stopping by to say hi from WDW! We are having a mostly great time, especially once I get my caffeine flowing in the morning :rolleyes1 Some days have seemed a little busier than others. Yesterday at MK was not bad at all :confused3 Today at Epcot was a little busier. The weather has been gorgeous, not a drop of rain. It's a tad warm though, we no longer need jackets, even at night. I did catch a few dismeet pics, Cindee..stop posting horrible pictures of me, and you need to PM me that picture of Jayden. I'm very curious! I had so much fun meeting everyone! I wish I'd made it to China a little earlier so I could've chatted a little more with everyone. Kristine, that picture of the boys and Tessa is soooo funny! I did not think Luke would actually get jealous but he really did! Hopefully we will see Dallas again this trip. They really do get along very well. I need sleep. I think we're off to MK tomorrow and dinner at Ohana. Lily has been a little angel. The other 3 have had their moments...Lily's favorite ride so far is TOT. Yes, I have the photo. And yes, she is 40" (in most shoes, not so sure about her chucks).
So glad you are having fun...! TOT?? Oh my gosh!!! How funny!!!

Here are few more things. :)

The first is our arrival outfits. I used a little artistic license on the POP colors. It is cool because my Dad is Pop so the girls can wear these on his Bday. The skirt is the flounce which I cannot say enough about!

Feb12001.jpg

Feb12002.jpg

The next is a recycled Mary Poppins. The strips were from DD4's dress last year. She outgrew the dress and got jello all over the bodice. I cut the dress apart and reworked it for DD2. I used the size three bodice and should not have. It is too big and DD will have to wear something under it.

Feb12003.jpg
Feb12004.jpg

This is DD all time favorite dress! LOL DD4 thought it was hysterical and it has really grown on me. I was going to make DD4 a new MI outfit but she said she liked her skirt a lot from last year so I just did a new tank top.

Feb12005.jpg
Feb12006.jpg
Wow they all look so wonderful but I think my favorite is the POP one...that is really darling!!!

Aimee, Awesome Job!!! :)
Here is the pic of the dress I made last night, Its not perfect but I am getting better
dressNew001.jpg
This is adorable!!

tha is really adorable! I think I may try a simply sweet top for Nikki! If I get the right material I think it will look like it is ok for a 9 yr old:thumbsup2 Then add some easy fit pants which are the best!!!!!!
This is an adorable outfit!
Aww, thank you so much!!! I can't wait to see what you come up with for Nikki. Oh and yes you got that right, those easy fit pants ROCK!!!!

I also hate button holes! I swear I will complete an outfit and then stare at it for days before I get the nerve up to put holes in it!

Yeah button holes stink.....!!! LOL. I do the same thing, in fact I have a Christmas outfit I never finished because I never did the buttons. :scared1: Maybe by next year I can find the courage to do some dang buttons. Good thing is the outfit was way too big anyway....LOL....should fit next year!

Here are my most recent customs. The boy's set is one I had in my unfinished project pile for a few weeks because I was struggling with the knit of the tee. I'm so glad I got it done finally.

characters1.jpg
Oh my golly...I LOVE this one!!!! love love love it!!! I need something like that for my son!!! Too stinkin' cute! Where do you find all these amazing clipsarts????

I love it! I also love seeing pictures of your little cutie!
:goodvibes Thanks Heather.

After I unpacked and such, I decided to make something for Becca and her mom, Mandy. I just feel so awful for them and all they're going through. I wanted to do something for the father, but couldn't think of anything. :confused3

Anyway, I made these yesterday and shipped them out today to the Ronald McDonald house.

I made this pillowcase using Becca's favorite colors:
109_640x426.jpg

117_320x480.jpg
Awww that was so nice of you Heather. I am sure they will love them!

Welcome home to all you who are coming home from WDW.
We loved seeing the pics of the meet!

So, my camera battery is dead and wouldn't you know we can't find the charging cord, but thats what cell phones are for right?
So these are off my phone.
She finally cooperated... kind of, but you can see the skirt on her.
vskirt1.jpg
vskirt2.jpg

She is on her third pair of shoes for the day in these pics... she started with black mary janes, then decided she wanted her boots, and by this point is in the pink mary janes :)
The skirt hits below her knees... I am wondering if we will get two Valentines our of it, we will have to wait and see.

Both kids are sick, I am hoping she will get to wear it to our church valentines day breakfast tomorrow but we will see how they are feeling.
Aww how cute....!

That is darling fabric!

I have a couple of pics of the boys' valentines shirts. They were a huge hit at the party we went to this morning.

Oh my goodness, your boys are adorable! And those shirts are awesome!

Here is Jenna's finished Valentine's outfit. I made her the shirt to match. I just used a red shirt that she already had. I didn't do anything to the hem of the skirt. I just hemmed it. The pink leggings are courtesy of Linnette. Thank you again Linnette.
S2010275.jpg

This is Jenna's fancy Easter dress. I will most probably take her to get her pictures taken in this one. Years ago I drew up a dress for Jenna and never did anything with it. I came across the picture a couple of weeks ago and decided to do it for Easter this year. I used CarlaC's Simply Sweet pattern with the Empire waist and of course the CarlaC Bow pattern. This is the large bow.
S2010272.jpg

And here is the back.
S2010273.jpg

Here is the new baby doll top dress pattern from YCMT.com. I had to add some white fabric to the part where the top makes a V. It was way too low and I found that unacceptable. Jenna picked this fabric and I promised her that I would make a dress for her. She wanted it last year, but I made her the pink roses dress last year.

And here is the rainy day that we had all day. I think that Jenny was sharing this weather with us today.

All of these are great, the Easter dress is just beautiful!

Awww I will continue to pray for Daniel and his family!!!! What a trooper he is!!! He needs to be granted a MAW trip when he is feeling better and then we can all work on a Big Give for him!! :goodvibes

My thoughts are with your family and hers. Its so hard to even understand what its like until you are going through it. So, I know how hard it is for them. I will be thinking about them. If there is anything I can do please let me know.
