Cool!

Ok here are a few things I have been doing.
IMG_0774.jpg
a nightgown for my niece and I also made one for my girlfriends dd. I was so happy i found the fabric which is satin backed with flannel for 2.5 a yard!!!!

IMG_0775.jpg

shorts i made for my nephew. I made Kyle pj's with the same material.

IMG_0776.jpg

IMG_0777.jpg

A flouncy skort i did for Nik.
IMG_0778.jpg

Ok here is where I need help! do I leave the tshirt plain? Do I brave and applique? Keep in mind my disaster not to long ago! Do I try t find a flower to embroider on it. Though I am not sure I have one that would go with the skirt. Do I make a Round neck shirt to go with it for the summer? I can actually do that either way and she could use the tshirt under it. Or is that just too much pattern for a 9 yr old???

Hey Minnie..these are all great. So cute!!! Those skirts look kinda hard to me....you did a great job. I am no help when it comes to deciding about the shirt. Sometimes I juts like plain shirts ...and other times not...See I told you...no help at all. LOL

A little sewing lingo! I think Heather or was it Leslie posted this a few pages back. We sewer's talk in a different form sometimes.

When we say by hand (usually) we mean that we use the sewing machine to sew, but cut it out by hand and go around the pieces by hand. Not using a purchased design on an embroidery machine. By machine (or digital) usually means using a program, it does the work, you just change out the thread, cut the fabrics, hoop it, etc.

So, the confusing part comes in where some add little details for real by hand with a needle and a thread. Leslie did the other day on her Minnie Mouse mouth and eyelashes. It is usually on the face, the little details like that that are done with a needle and thread!

So, now that we are all up with the sewing lingo carry on! :thumbsup2

Very nice nightgown. Like the little boy shorts. And love the skirt. I could wear that.... And I would just leave the T-shirt plain for a 9 year old.

I think it was Stephers who made shorts for Jacob with the Star Wars panels? I just bought the panels and I was thinking about shorts but I am not sure....

It was me! The other Stephanie! I'll post pics when I find them . . . And give you a tip! Later I promise!

Okay, so who wants to take a little trip to Disneyland today? My HM pictures are from October when we went out there and I just decided I would post about a zillion pictures for you'll. I think most were seen thrown on my bedroom floor and a quick picture snapped before leaving!

Oh wait, jedi training, must change shirts, QUICK!

Ignore the non matching pants!

The HM is all decked out for the NBC and it was so awesome! I wish that you could take pictures inside and see how cute everything is.

100_7624.jpg

Our one and only family picture, I think for the entire trip!

We went to legoland the day before this and met Jeanne and family that day at Mimi's!

The HM is done on my machine. I did buy the designs off ebay, they were $40 or $50. This is the MOST expensive outfit Dallas has EVER worn! Pretty sad since the shirt was $5 and jeans probably $14.

Does anyone know Lisa Zoe's ebay ID? I think she created something I want to CASE. ETA - I am looking for a way to contact her and make sure she wouldn't mind.

Anyone want to take a spin in Toontown on Roger Rabbit?

BTW, I just figured out we can wear this to either check in or out of Pop! Whoo hoo!

100_8051.jpg

We started out with Roger Rabbit shirts that day. I have no idea what DH and I wore. But we went back to take naps, then put on NBC for some reason. But we never went to toontown until that evening so had to change Dallas, then change him back to eat ice cream. We are not normally a clothes changing family.

So nice to see pictures from your trip!!!!

Well Nik just got home from school and I showed her the skirt and she asked me to put an applique on it! Ok I hope I don't screw it up!!!!!!! I did just buy some iron on stabilizer! Wish me luck!

And a trip to California is never complete without going to Hollywood!

100_8091.jpg

The El Capitan and Disney's Soda Fountain.

100_8105.jpg

I should say, we are yet to see a movie at the El Capitan because I always get voted down. In May The Little Mermaid was playing. That was my favorite movie for years! This time NBC played the beginning of the week and then HSM3. We just can't fit the movies in it seems!

We went to Santa Monica after Hollywood and enjoyed the pier then back for the fireworks. We had to skip Malibu this trip and it is a bit sad to miss the canyons and all. It is just all so pretty.

Here is the morning we left.

100_8260.jpg

Dallas has been bugging me about going back and I keep checking airfare but yet to take the plunge. Anyone going again this October??

My daughter want a Nightmare Before Christmas Outfit. I cannot seem to get the search function to work for me. Can someone please post some.

Thanks

Ok I am now totaly confused! :confused3 :rotfl2: either way I couldn't do what you do! LOL

I used to be right there with you! Before I learned how to applique, I had no idea what people meant when they said they did the applique by hand! I thought they literally stitche around the edges with a needle and thread.

My appliques are all done "by hand" I find an image I want to use and either print it out or trace it DIRECTLY from my screen. I then trace each piece of the image onto a fusible web (like heat n bond lite). If it's a simple applique like a Mickey head it is only the one piece but id it is a pieced applique like a princess, I cut out each feature- hair, eyes, arm, dress, face etc. It then gets pieced back together like a puzzle. I usually trace my facial features on before I piece and iron it to the bodice. That way I know where to stitch (either with a needle and thread or my machine) later. The I use my machine set to a satin stitch (or a very closely spaced zig-zag) and applique around the pieces. I do the fine detail work - eyelashes, outlines etc. LITERALLY by hand.

Machine appliques are done on an embroidery machine. Some you can purchase premade designs (you see the same images alot) and "upload" them to your machine and the machine does the stitching for you. You still cut the fabric and place it, but the machine does the actual satin stitch. Some of the designs have over a dozen steps to them. You can also buy a program and digitize your own images (Heaher has done this)

I like doing the appliques by hand. You can do any image you find. The machine appliques are usually PERFECT (when done right) but you are limited on your designs (unless you can digitize your own ;) )

Aimee's adorable princesses she just posted were done "by hand" (awesome job, BTW) and the other Jasmine was done by Heather on her embroidery machine.

Did that help clear things up at all?

You think those canyons are pretty? You should really come visit me if you want to see canyons! We will probably go again in October unless Mike loses his job or some such catastrophe. I have a lot of $$$ credit with the airline right now and I'm hoping to save it and fly out in October. I'm not sure when the kids' break is yet. Our school district is splitting and we're in the new district. I think I'll go see if they have a website yet. Nevermind, I checked. If we go it would be around Oct. 1-5

Not sure how old your daughter is, but here are my DD3 and DD11:

Here is a boys NBC outfit I did a while ago.

Sorry, I don't have a better picture in photobucket. It was a tad short on him at this point.

It has Oogie Boogie and the word Jack on the back.

Yep, loved them. I love that the ocean is right there too though. I would love Utah!

What luck! We would go the 3rd - 10th! Well, probably could leave the 2nd, depending on Lin's job!

JESSICA JESSICA JESSICA!!!!

I love the shirts they are super cute. :) I love the "Dallas" shirt. That is so cute. What a good idea! We have those little guys too. I wonder if Brett would wear a "Brett" shirt. hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Linette- I love Donald. He is my DD2 main squeeze. She would flipped over a little boy in that.

A few more things to share . . .

The first is Jasmine- Both of my girls have this one.

JasmineChipDale010.jpg
th_JasmineChipDale013.jpg

th_JasmineChipDale012.jpg

The next is Chip and Dale. DD4 is going to be Chip and DD2 is going to be Dale. They are going to wear these to Chip and Dales Campfire Sing Along. DD4 skirt is a little different. She has a patchwork skirt instead of strips.

th_JasmineChipDale014.jpg

Finally, my model was more that cooperative to put on this one. I wonder why!!! I just need to find a way to get it off of her. This is for DD2 to wear on her sisters Birthday night. DD4 has this in Snow White but was to "busy" to take pictures.

Waughzee made the tiara and JennWDW made the bows.

***Notice only one ballet slipper. The other is MIA. It would have been easier to take the remaining slipper off of an alligator.***

They are great! Did you make the Sleeping Beauty skirt?

I think the bday shirt favor is a great idea. I was thinking of doing tutu favors for my DD's bday.

Jessica, I think Mom and Dad would be cute. It is such a clever applique. Just an FYI for everyone- I bought a few digital designs and Jessica was going to make tee shirts for the girls. The designs were awful and corrupted her sewing machine. I felt just awful. I am still excited Jessica is going to do shirts. We just have to figure out what but I am excited.

Tutus for favors? Holy cow, I can't imagine sewing one let alone making a bunch for a party! Can my girls come, they need tutus? :lmao:

Cool!

What about a silk flower that matches the skirt that can be attached with a pin to the shoulder area? That way she can wear it plain if she wants to or can dress it up. Plus, saves you from doing the applique.

Thanks Leslie for explaining the hand vs. machine. Also, thanks for the compliment. Although, I can see every flaw perfectly now! LOL

I have a few NBC outfits also.
