I finally have some pictures of the things I made my daughter. Of course I didn't have a cooperative model so it is just the clothes. After the first 3 dresses (that I previously posted) I made the Wall-E outfit. Well, Ainsley declared that she didn't want any shorts/pants, just dresses! So the rest are dresses. Of course she also said she didn't want the Little Einsteins dress, just princesses. Too bad. Her little brother loves Little Einsteins and we are scheduled to have lunch with June and Leo. She will wear the dress! Anyway, here are the pictures. I am only so-so on the Wall-E one but I like the other three.

Tinkerbell
I showed the skirt before but finished a shirt to go with it. I cut apart a shirt I got on clearance at the Disney store. It was a size too small and so I just used the picture on the front.
IMG_0180.jpg

The aformentioned Little Einsteins dress. Jessica, here is my appliqued Rocket. Thanks again for the positive encouragement.
IMG_0187.jpg

Minnie Dress
When I was putting the skirt portion together she said, "ooo, that's pretty, is that for me?".
IMG_0186.jpg

Another Minnie outfit. She wants a bow on Minnie's head. Suggestions? Should I pin a ribbon bow to it or applique one on? If I applique it, what color do you think?
IMG_0181.jpg

They are pretty much all the same jumper but I like the style so that if it is cold I can just put a long sleeve shirt under it. I have one more outfit planned for her but I started the boys' tees yesterday. I got 4 tees done for my oldest but haven't taken pics yet. Three are mickey heads in different fabrics and one is Buzz Lightyear.

I am a very newbie clothes sewer (I have been making quilts on and off for years) and I so appreciate all of the encouragement you all give on this board.

Thanks!

They all look so cute!! I really like the WallE set - its so bright nd cheery.

I'd just pin a bow to the Mickey Head and call it Minnie1;) Here's some pictures of what it looks like...

And because she looks so cute...

Very cute and brave of you to wrangle the commercial pattern after being spoiled by Carla. Great job!

What happen to your net? Or is it the computer? Glad you made it Step. How is warm sunny florida?

It is Verizon and I am starting to hate them. I call them and spend an hour on the phone each time for them to tell me, 1) they tell me they don't believe that the internet has been going out because it happens to be on when I call; 2) they have me reset buttons and claim that will fix it (it never does); 3) they've sent someone out who has claimed to fix it (but it's not fixed obviously). I am so frustrated with them!

Otherwise things in Florida are great! Tomorrow I am going with Megan's class to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. I am excited because I have never been!

This is one of my all-time favorite outfits. I get sad when I see it because it reminds me that my Megan is so big now! Hug your Megan tight!

Aw, it doesn't look so bad, it looks cute! Very kid-like. We are our own worst critics, always. I think when you get the iron on stabilizer you will have much better results.

This is adorable! Love the kitties!

I love that Wall-E fabric! Everything looks so cute, love the creative repurposing of the too-small Tink shirt. I would add a ribbon bow with a safety pin on the pink minnie head. Then maybe a matching bow?

So for all our Gymboree shoppers..... Rumors on the message boards... Lots will be marked down to $1.99 on Friday!!!

Noooo! I told myself I couldn't go back until they got stuff for summer!

Thanks Sue!

All your work is amazing. I love the outfits and you have a very lucky little girl to have such a good mommy to sew all this for her!

OH and for the rest of you I DID find fabric for a Vday outfit for Lily. It is NOT what I was looking for and was not acutally a Vday fabric but I found it in the clearance section. It did change my plans totally for her outfit, but i think now she will get more wear out of it anyway.
You know, I found the fabric in the "Clearance" section....it was normally 6.99 a yd. and on clearance for $4. Now I'm happy to get 2 yds of fabric for $8 instead of just 1 BUT really, is that "Clearance"??????? I am usually psyched about getting stuff cheaper but I just felt like meh about it.:confused3 ...t.
Great score on the clearance fabric. Sale is my favorite S word.

Hello, my name is Kira, and I am a fabric addict!!!
I think we need to make some t-shirts with this saying! :lmao:
I think you are right.:rotfl2:
Yes there is a "support group" for fabric lovers. It is call the Disboutique board! LOL

If I only bought fabric that I KNEW what I was going to do with it, I would not have any fabric. I am always finding fabric I NEED, but have no clue what to do with lol.
See above T shirts that we need. Right there with ya.

Hey, I'm having trouble changing things to thumbnails. What am I doing wrong?

I should join too!!! I usually spent about 200.00+ a month in fabric that I just have no idea what I needed for!! The funny thing is when I am working on a project usually I have to order more because is not in my pile ...for the month of February my goal is NOT TO BUY ANY FABRIC!!!
You can do it, a no spend February is a good idea.
Lost my other quotes, but ladies (and gents) I just love all the outfits posted, it really makes me sad that I do not have a little girl to sew for...
I know, it is so hard to just sew for Hunter. He is so happy when I make him clothes but we don't do anything girly of course.

I am working in some outfits for Noah's give and I thought of doing a "Donald Duck" outfit for little Noah ( I am also doing some t shirts and jeans with appliques)
this is what I am working on

DD outfit has a red bow in the shirt, do you guys think that I should do the bow or just a knot in the front... I am not sure, also maybe I shouldn't do the side pockets in the pants... again I need advise...

Linnette
PS April sent you an email
I like the bow for the girl shirt. But when you make clothes they are always spectacular! I can't wait to see the finished outfit.

Linnette, I am always happy to see you posting again. You are so kind and so helpful to everyone. I can't believe I have been posting here ever since the dreaded costume.
I didn't see any email but I am going to write you

Wow.....I am so far behind...I am on page 115 where Heather posted her pics of her absolutely amazing Dumbo outfits!

Heather - I really love the colors and layers and of course the appliques! You all look so cute in your pics together!!! Are you wearing them to MK?? Dumbo is always our first ride with the kiddos.

OK I have to get off the Dis now cause I have to help my DD10 with her homework. I hope I can catch up! :flower3:

That is going to be so cute on him! I wouldn't put a bow on Noah's outfit, but the knot sounds good.

That is what I am thinking! I just may not be cut out for applique!
This isn't my 1st attampt:rotfl: It is my 2nd but still!

Hence I need to learn the digitizing! :rotfl: I got my hand on a copy of pe 7 I just need to see if DH can show me how to use it on the windows part of our mac...
HELLO??? Marlo??? It's not you, it's the stabilizer you're using!! You MUST use iron-on with knits! At least, it really helps!!!

Do you guys ever buy very many ebooks from youcanmakethis.com?
Can someone give me some feedback?
:rotfl2: Oh, that's a funny question. The answer is YES!! We love youcanmakethis!!!! The best writer on there is CarlaC (she's also a disboutiquer). My favorites of hers are the portrait peasant top, the simply sweet dress, and the easy fit pants. If you have a boy, the bowling shirt is great, too. I also love the perfectly preppy skirts and skorts pattern because there are so many different looks included. You will NOT regret buying CarlaC's patterns!! You can use them over and over and over again, so you get your money's worth!

Thank you!! Yes, we're going to wear them on our first full MK day. We are going to do the "Dumbo or die" plan, where you RUN to Dumbo first thing, before the line backs up!

Hmmm, I would say no fabric for Feb, but that would just be like a new years resolution! :lmao: :lmao:

Linette, that sailor outfit is going to be adorable. My son-in-law is in the Navy and we are always looking for cute sailor style outfits!! I have a real hard time getting the V in the front to look right! I cannot wait to see your set!!

:confused3 :confused3 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I think we keep them in business! YOu will never want to go back to a commercial pattern after YCMT! Well, when you go back to commercial patterns, you will substitute a lot of YCMT pieces to your outfit!!

Sue (who should be sewing today! but likes the computer better!)

So wait??? You guys all use iron on stabilizer with knits??? Everytime I use iron on, I have problems. I use cut away with spray adhesive. Then I stick the whole thing on a sticky back stabilizer.

Ok people, I just bought my first one tonight from Cara C the stripwork jumper :) So now between finishing the shirts and making the jumper for DD it should keep me busy for a while.

I am going to upload some of my pics onto photbucket to post here.. Be warned, I am not good at sewing anything! :lmao:

I made Sawyer a Chip and Dale bowling shirt with my precious little bit of Chip/Dale fabric (it was gifted to me, but not available for sale anywhere that I know of). He LOVES it! It's so cool to have him get excited about what I make. You may remember before our last trip, I had to bribe him with cookies to get him to try things on.

Here 'tis!
SawyerinChipDaleshirt_457x600.jpg

I made it to match Tessa's Chip/Dale/Clarice outfit.
Twocutekids_515x600.jpg

You may remember that Sawyer had a Chip appliqued t-shirt that met an unfortunate demise on our last trip. But, I was able to salvage the applique (I get really attached to the appliques I did before I got my embroidery machine) and stuck it on the back of the shirt:
Chipback_722x600.jpg

I lined it with cheetah print fabric, even though it's not visible when he wears it.

Just because I thought it was really sweet!

We were talking about embroidering by "hand" (AKA without an embroidery machine). When I use my embroidery machine, I hoop a sticky stabilizer, then stick the garment to it and float a layer of cut away under it all.

LOVE THEM! You will fall in love with them! I think I have about 5 of them maybe 6!
