I have the next BIG GIVE up!

I had all intentions of holding off until after the dismeet, but that is another 2 1/2 weeks and I got all the info back quickly on this family! I also now will have computer access while at disney so can keep up!

This is a wonderful family and Jakob just can't believe that he is going to be included in on this!

Here is their pre trip report:

Come check it out! Thank you to all who have asked when another was going up! The list is quite short right now for upcoming WISH trips.

Super cute! You're off to a great start, I'd say!!:cheer2:

Thanks

That was my very first YCMT pattern, too! It is a great one! Before that I had only sewn a shopping cart cover, so it was my first attempt at clothes.

Here's what I made the very first time:
DSC06406.jpg

ETA: Sorry it is sooo huge!

Very Cute!! Hopefully mine will look normal like yours..:rotfl:
The shorts of course are CarlaCs Easyfit pants pattern

New Look 6689 is what I used (my second outfit ever was the Little Mermaid)
6689.jpg

I will say i have learned alot since this- this is an unlined pattern- and uses bias tape for the arm holes so the insides, unless you own a serger, are maybe not so pretty.
this would work too-
the top part is a commercial pattern Im pretty sure it was McCalls 5031
M5031.jpg

Okay, if I had a voice to laugh I would have at your second question- I think all of us own stock in that website- you will not be disappointed and one of the pattern makers (LouisMama) visits us frequently and will often, oh I dont know "MODESTIFY" or add bow options, etc to these patterns- we all love CarlaC (Sew Boutique for Dolly and Me) They are pricey, but well worth the money!!!!!!

Thanks for all the info, Its getting late for me so I am off to bed :thumbsup2

Thank you, everybody. I do love making the clothes and she (mostly) loves the things I make her. In fact Ainsley still insists on wearing her Christmas dress. She doesn't care that Christmas is over for now. Everytime I take her to the fabric store she picks out something to be made into a dress.

Everybody's stuff is so cute. And I think I would be remiss if I didn't thank CarlaC because her patterns are so easy to follow!

I have a question for you ladies. I am about to buy the Carla C Trifecta bundle, but I already have the easy fit pants. So Sherie said I can switch it out for another pattern. If you already have the stripwork jumper, peasant top, and easy fit pants what other pattern would you get?

I like the Simply Sweet pattern and the Bowling shirt pattern. Those are the best ones that you don't have. If your DD likes to wear skirts than you might want to consider the skirt pattern that has the different kinds of skirts in it. It is versatile and easy.

Ohh, I don't have kids. I am just sewing for mainly a friends daughter, and sometimes for my little cousin. I feel like the simply sweet pattern is so close to the stripwork jumper pattern, that it won't be worth it. and I am not sure I like the bowling shirt on baby girls. I am way to picky, I think. Thanks for the suggestions!

Is the A-line pattern good?

Yes the A-line is good. You can make it a dress or a top. I made it last year unlined. I thought it would be to hot at DW in Sept with 2 layers.

I hope they are easy :) How true to the size are they? I just printed off a Size 4 jumper bodice (sp) and it looks like it would fit one of my DD's dolls. :lmao: (She wears a 4t now)

They do seem pretty true to size but the two things I've made so far are not fitted like a jumper would be. DD9 is wearing the twirl skirt that I made for DD2. She's worn it for the last two days! Its short on her but still cute and since their waist size is only 2 inches different and the skirt has an elastic waist, its no problem. I made the size 8 peasant top for DD9 and it was plenty big on her. She usually wears an 8 or 10, off the rack.

The shorts of course are CarlaCs Easyfit pants pattern

New Look 6689 is what I used (my second outfit ever was the Little Mermaid)
6689.jpg

I have this same pattern, haven't used it yet but I like the cut of the top.

I am attempting to begin my Feliz and was wondering what tutorials everyone uses? I know there are at least 2. This dress will be my tester dress!

Also, I am still unsure about sergers...HELP! Anyone like a cheap one?

My Brother 1034 was under $200 and I do like it. Although, now that I know what it is, I wish I could afford a machine with coverstitch!

I have a question for you ladies. I am about to buy the Carla C Trifecta bundle, but I already have the easy fit pants. So Sherie said I can switch it out for another pattern. If you already have the stripwork jumper, peasant top, and easy fit pants what other pattern would you get?
I just finally bought the raglan hoodie pattern, and so far I love it! I've been afraid to try sewing with knits, and this e-book really has a lot of tips and takes the scare factor out of it. I made my DS a hoodie shirt and am making my DD a matching hoodie dress and they are turning out fantastic! So my vote would be the raglan hoodie... (I agree with you that simply sweet and stripwork are probably too close to be worth it)

Grrr...my cricut is making me mad. I was reading on a link that you could use it to cut fabric out (Which is great b/c I have 20 Wall e shirts to make by March) anyway the dumb thing wont work...
I swear that machine gives me more problems than what it is worth

Don't let Karen hear you talking like that!!!!

I finally have some pictures of the things I made my daughter. Of course I didn't have a cooperative model so it is just the clothes. After the first 3 dresses (that I previously posted) I made the Wall-E outfit. Well, Ainsley declared that she didn't want any shorts/pants, just dresses! So the rest are dresses. Of course she also said she didn't want the Little Einsteins dress, just princesses. Too bad. Her little brother loves Little Einsteins and we are scheduled to have lunch with June and Leo. She will wear the dress! Anyway, here are the pictures. I am only so-so on the Wall-E one but I like the other three.

Wall-E
th_IMG_0183.jpg
Thanks!

All of them are adorable, but I just love the Wall-E with the pretty yellow!

you guys think that I should do the bow or just a knot in the front... I am not sure, also maybe I shouldn't do the side pockets in the pants... again I need advise...

Linnette
PS April sent you an email

That is going to be adorable Linnette! I would do the knot on Noah's.

Do you guys ever buy very many ebooks from youcanmakethis.com?
Can someone give me some feedback?

:rotfl2:
Ok, tell the truth, have you read the first post?????

Thank you!! Yes, we're going to wear them on our first full MK day. We are going to do the "Dumbo or die" plan, where you RUN to Dumbo first thing, before the line backs up!

Dumbo or die plan!!! That made me giggle!

What?? Mom doesn't want to stop for pictures???? Hmm... should I take that personally????

I made Sawyer a Chip and Dale bowling shirt with my precious little bit of Chip/Dale fabric (it was gifted to me, but not available for sale anywhere that I know of). He LOVES it! It's so cool to have him get excited about what I make. You may remember before our last trip, I had to bribe him with cookies to get him to try things on.

Here 'tis!
th_SawyerinChipDaleshirt_457x600.jpg

I made it to match Tessa's Chip/Dale/Clarice outfit.
th_Twocutekids_515x600.jpg

You may remember that Sawyer had a Chip appliqued t-shirt that met an unfortunate demise on our last trip. But, I was able to salvage the applique (I get really attached to the appliques I did before I got my embroidery machine) and stuck it on the back of the shirt:
th_Chipback_722x600.jpg

I lined it with cheetah print fabric, even though it's not visible when he wears it.
th_ChipDaleshirt_740x600.jpg

Just because I thought it was really sweet!
Kidsinheart_691x600.jpg

I LOVE this!!! And, I miss my little Sawyer!!! :grouphug: He looks so darling in that brown!!! I'm glad you could reuse the applique!!!!

You confused me for a second with the name of that second picture!

I love the cheetah fabric inside!!!

The two of them look so sweet together!!!

I can't believe you guys are leaving so soon!

Ok so this is my first one, Way to big, too much ribbon..Not at all what I was looking for
Dresses08003.jpg

This is one that I liked but DH shot down my idea of her wearing it for xmas pictures :guilty:
Dresses08002.jpg

Other than that all I have ever made are hairbows.
These look adorable!!! I'd love to see some bigger pictures though!

I hope they are easy :) How true to the size are they? I just printed off a Size 4 jumper bodice (sp) and it looks like it would fit one of my DD's dolls. :lmao: (She wears a 4t now)

I always go with the measurements when I make Carla's outfits.
So what do I have to do to get one of the cute little pics in my siggie? :confused3

Which picture do you want? You can go to "User CP" at the top of the page and click on "Edit signature" to add pictures.

Thanks for your input. How did you get it for $50? WOW! Mom said she will give me a little extra money if I really wanted the Brother 1034D.!

I was talking to Laura (the_seamstress) and she mentioned that they had a floor model at a Walmart near us pretty cheap. So, a few months later, I went in to the store and saw it still there! No one was able to tell me how much it was then, so they had to call me the next day with the price. When tehy said $50, I almost keeled over! It was missing the power cord, but Singer sent it to me. So, always look underneath the fabric cutting counter to see if there are any floor models under there!

I have a question for you ladies. I am about to buy the Carla C Trifecta bundle, but I already have the easy fit pants. So Sherie said I can switch it out for another pattern. If you already have the stripwork jumper, peasant top, and easy fit pants what other pattern would you get?

I love the Simply Sweet pattern. It has several different top options. I think you would really like that one. I also like the Perfectly Preppy skirt pattern.

Ohh, I don't have kids. I am just sewing for mainly a friends daughter, and sometimes for my little cousin. Is the A-line pattern good?
The Simply Sweet can be made into a halter top and the straps can be done in different ways. The A-line dress is really good too. I forgot about that one. I have used that one alot too.

Wall-E
th_IMG_0183.jpg

Tinkerbell
I showed the skirt before but finished a shirt to go with it. I cut apart a shirt I got on clearance at the Disney store. It was a size too small and so I just used the picture on the front.
th_IMG_0180.jpg

The aformentioned Little Einsteins dress. Jessica, here is my appliqued Rocket. Thanks again for the positive encouragement.
th_IMG_0187.jpg

Minnie Dress
When I was putting the skirt portion together she said, "ooo, that's pretty, is that for me?".
th_IMG_0186.jpg

Another Minnie outfit. She wants a bow on Minnie's head. Suggestions? Should I pin a ribbon bow to it or applique one on? If I applique it, what color do you think?
th_IMG_0181.jpg

Thanks!
Everything looks great. I love the Wall-E outfit. I should have bought that fabric. It looks so pretty sewn up!

I did not have any trouble cutting fabric in the cricut, I cut fabric to 12" by 12" size and use heat and bond lite, the blade I set it to 6 and the pressure to high , low speed, My fabrics are usually pre-washed but for a handbag that I am working on I did not pre-wash the fabric and it worked the same..

Lost my other quotes, but ladies (and gents) I just love all the outfits posted, it really makes me sad that I do not have a little girl to sew for...

I am working in some outfits for Noah's give and I thought of doing a "Donald Duck" outfit for little Noah ( I am also doing some t shirts and jeans with appliques)
this is what I am working on

Linnette
PS April sent you an email
Linette, that Donald outfit that you have planned is going to be adorable!!! It looks like such an heirloom outfit to me.

Do you guys ever buy very many ebooks from youcanmakethis.com?
Can someone give me some feedback?
:rotfl2:
Sorry.. I couldn't help myself! Everyone here loves them. I haven't dove off the deep end with them yet. I still use Children's Corner, Love and Stitches, and other types of patterns like that. They are my fav!!!
I did dive into the euro patterns. I love those right now. Feliz and Vida are just lovely!!!
So wait??? You guys all use iron on stabilizer with knits??? Everytime I use iron on, I have problems. I use cut away with spray adhesive. Then I stick the whole thing on a sticky back stabilizer.
If you are talking about machine embroider you really should google and find a chart with what types of stabilizer to use for what types of projects. It makes all the difference in machine embroidery if you are properly stabilized! Let me know if you can't find one. I use either iron on cut away on knits or cut away with a little sticky spray to hold the item down. I do onesies that way because they are so small. I really never used to hoop knits, but lately I am loving the iron on stabilizers. They make things pucker free all the time if you do it correctly. Just make sure not to stretch the knit when you stabilize it. I stopped using alot of sticky spray because it was gunking up my needles and machine too much.

They look great! You can definitely tackle ycmt patterns.

Popping out of lurkdom to say my DD wears a 3T/4T and I use the 4T bodice on Carla's stripwork jumper. It is plenty big. I've made a ton in all sorts of sizes and the fit is pretty true. Make sure the 1" square on your page is measuring 1" when you print it. Otherwise you need to click something to make sure the page is scaled right. Not sure what that is since I print my pattern pieces in photoshop somehow and I don't have to worry about that.
Can't wait to see all the things you are working on for your trip.

Hey - if anyone is looking for it - the famous Mickey Minnie disco dot is on ebay right now - 1 yard....Mickey & Minnie Mouse Multi-Color Fabric is what it is listed as......so tempting!! I love this fabric, but I do have some already!!!
OMG!!!! WHY!!!!!
I sooooo promised hubby no more fabric for the time being!!! I NEED IT!!! :lmao:

That was my very first YCMT pattern, too! It is a great one! Before that I had only sewn a shopping cart cover, so it was my first attempt at clothes.

Here's what I made the very first time:
th_DSC06406.jpg

ETA: Sorry it is sooo huge!
Cute!! Love the little C you appliqued on there!

Finally got my Teflon sheet thanks to hubby. I am letting my applique cool on there. It is all pieced together. I am sooooo nervous!!
I think I'll just buy the machine with the bigger hoop so I don't have to do it again! :sad2:
Now to convince hubby to spend 5 or 6 thousand dollars on the machine I NEED. :scared:
Just fyi though.. I have NO chance! :rotfl:

I think they are pretty true to size. I usually add an inch or 2 on to a lot of patterns because Nikki is so skinny but she has some length to her compared to what she should be for the pattern size.

I don't use iron on for anything. I just don't like it. I usually use cut away and pin it out but have used tear away and pin it on.
That is what I did for my applique and well you all saw the results! :rotfl2:
lol!!!:rotfl2:

It is my favorite fabric!!! I have some stripes that coordinate with it too - I was just MAD when DH wouldnt let me purchase what was left of the bolt!! I havent made anything wiht it yet though!!

Does anyone have pictures of things they have made with it to help me decide what to do with it????

Thanks!!
I made eye glass cases and little wallets for WDW for my girlfriend and I. If you want I can find pictures. they aren't anything fancy...

am working on Carla's Flouncy skirt now. I LOVE the pattern. I also Love the bowling shirt for my son, The raglan is great too!!!!

Since you are sewing for a girl I would say either the skirt pattern or the raglan since both are so versatile! the skirt has several different styles and lengths, same with the raglan. I have made the raglan for boys and girls as a tshirt or sweat shirt or even pj's for my niece!

nally got my Teflon sheet thanks to hubby. I am letting my applique cool on there. It is all pieced together. I am sooooo nervous!!

It looks good. I always notice the worst in my work. Just look for the good and it all looks nice. You are doing great. It gets easier as you keep sewing. Just in August I was brand new again.

:thumbsup2 Good Morning All, Once my kids are on the bus (2 hr dealy here) I am off to Joann's to get some more fabric :thumbsup2
Yeah! Have fun, I am on the no buy list with Linnette. We all need to join the 12 step for fabric addiction. For me it is easy. The Joann's and Hancocks is over 1.75 hours each way!

That is really good for a first time outfit. It is so cute.

That is cute! i love the skirt. Does your older DD let you sew for her?

Hello and Thanks, My older is actually a DS :) He is 14 and did pick out some flannel material for me to make him some PJ's...poor guy...the material is still in my stack!! That's about it for his sewing requests...although I have sewn for him for various things his whole life...blankets & costumes mainly. I made him a Mickey Sorcerer Costume when he was 8 or 9 years old that was a huge hit. We had the Sorcerer Mickey Hat from DL that lights up...that totally added to the costume. Now I am feeling a little guilty! Time to make his PJ's!! LOL!!

My Daughter does the same thing...we go to the fabric store and she selects her fabrics :) it is so cute and fun. Although the owner of the small Quilt/Fabric store that we go to says that I am ruining her (when it comes to clothes)...hahahaha!! Store bought will never do for her :) J/K...she still loves gymboree! I am always tempted to say (and do sometimes)...I am not going to pay 30 for that skirt...I can make it! Anyone else find themselves saying that???

And I totally agree...Thank You to Carla C!!! Her patterns gave me the courage to expande my skills and I am having so much fun! If you haven't tried one of her patterns...you are really missing out!!

Time to get to work...Have a great day all!!

I just wanted to 2nd that...I make this set, with adjustments only to wider strips...the bodice is very true to size. I have made it is all sizes and have found no issues :)

This is my favorite pattern still!!
