First off.. I hate ironing. I refused to iron this dress twice in one night, so here it is all wrinkled and dirty after she wore it. :rotfl2:

I made this back in November. I never take the time to take pictures of things to post. Hannah wore this to a party tonight, so I figured I should get some quick pics! I'm going to have to redo this dress because it is running pretty small on her right now. I'm just going to rip it apart and keep the smocking plate and start over. :scared: This was by far the hardest smocking plate I have done because I didn't have the smocking plate. I just had a picture of the smocking plate. Why oh why did I torture myself??? I had to make up alot of it as I went.
I plan on getting a Jen bow to go with this one. I think it needs one. The headband is cute, but she won't keep it on!

I hope to catch up later. Working on Valentine's dress. I digitized a cute Minnie and Mickey design and it came out way too small in my 5 by 7 hoop. It would look great if I had a larger hoop. :snooty:
I think I am going to freehand applique. Heather tutorial here I come! :upsidedow

Wow...you guys sure do keep busy!!! Once again, such beautiful outfits posted. I am hoping to share some more of mine soon. My DH has been out of town all week for business and I haven't seemed to have much time to myself. I have been staying busy with the kids and also trying to finish up my DD's room...I decided to paint it 2 days before my husband went out of town. Not the best idea on my part...seeing as though her room is STILL all torn apart!! Hahaha. It is going to be a TinkerBell/ Peter Pan room..hahaha!!! (Taylor LOVES Peter Pan!!!)

Anyway...do any of you have any Tinker Bell or Peter Pan themed bedrooms? I would LOVE to see pictures if you do. Thanks!!

:goodvibes

So cute, I love to smock. I like that I can tuck it in my purse and work on it while in carpool line or waiting for soccer practice to end. I cannot imagine making it without the detailed directions though. You are brave!

THanks!! I think this is why I like smocking so much. I can bring it everywhere and work on it. I work on it in the car alot. I can do it while watching/listening to tv too. If only I could bring my sewing machine along with me everywhere and sew with it in my lap then I'd get alot more done. ;)

I can't wait to see it. I wish I could paint Hannah's walls. I think I'd paint a princess mural. Can you paint that kind of stuff? If not there are some great wall appliques you can get. My DD has paneling in her walls with grooves on it. Hubby says I can't paint it.
Let us know what you come up with!

My grandparents have paneling in their kitchen/ dining room area and they painted it and it looks great now. They also had it in the room that my daughter stays in when she is over there and they painted it and it was an improvement. Don't let him tell you that ;).

Was it grooved panelling though? This one has these thick grooves in it about every 2 inches.

Yeah it was the really horrible stuff. It sucked up a lot of paint too, but the end result looked real nice. I'll take a pic on Sunday and show you what it looks like.

Thanks, I'd appreciate it. :)

Cute pic of Jenna in your siggy! I can never get a picture of my DD laughing to wear she doesn't look really wierd. :)

Flounce skirt-I feel so stupid. Apparently last night I was too tired to be sewing. I apparently never cut the shorts piece out. So what pieces did I sew together for the shorts you ask? Why the sleeves to the peasant top I also cut out of the same fabric. :crazy2: You all have my permission to laugh at me. :rotfl2:I know I am. Carla there isn't anything wrong with your pattern just the person sewing it together. :thumbsup2

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: Believe me... I'm laughing WITH you. I can't tell you how many times I've done something similar and decided it was time to stop for the night, and I spend the next morning having to rip seams and undo what I did the night before.

I knew you guys with empathize with me...I got a PIN for $594 per adult AND a $500 giftcard...BUT the future of DH"s job is up in the air so no way....sigh.

:grouphug: I know it is tough out there right now.

Oh! In the midst of freaking out about my skort pattern, I totally forgot to let you all know that the sash tute is finished!

Here is a linky:

Thanks so much for all the great feedback! I ended up doing 3 bow sizes with 3 belt sizes each. The only thing that I didn't get in there that was requested was how to work the straps into the back of the bodice. I'll get that up there down the line, but I think Shannon explained it pretty well already :thumbsup2 . With this one, you'd just extend the blunt ends the needed amount.

Great Carla, I can't wait to check it out.

Steph,

When doing the lettuce edge, you are using your regular machine or your serger?

If its the regular, you put it on zig zag and then.......???????

I tried my first raglan, and Im not sure I handled the knit properly, the neck looks really big (and one sleeve somehow was about 3 inches longer than the other !!!!:rotfl2: ) but I was able to fix that......I used the self pattern piece for the neck since i wasnt using ribbing, is that right????

Everything posted looks so cute!!!
When I make the raglan shirts i usually use the neck piece that is a size smaller then I am making and the smaller sized sleeves too. Apparently kids have short arms because even pattern the sleeves end up being too long.

1) Set the stitch on zig zag, set on a tighter stitch (1 on my Kenmore)

2) Gently stretch the knit as the fabric feeds through, one "zig" on the fabric, the other "zag" off the edge. Stretch from the back and the front. I roll the edge slightly as I feed through (you almost need three hands but the knit kind of rolls itself).

3) Run around once or twice.

As long as the neck piece is stretchy, I would think it would be fine.

I think you should have left one sleeve three inches longer, "hey, did my left arm grow?" Can you tell I am up past my bedtime (and fully loaded with cosmos, to Teresa's dismay!)?

You can do it!
Thanks! I love the look but i didn't think i could do it with out a serger!

that is funny about Scrapy! My Rocky was a Rhodesian Ridgeback also know and an African Lion Dog and if the temps fell below 60 that big baby would not even step out side unless we made him! So when we moved up north the poor baby was not happy! We joked he was born in GA so he was used to the heat too. Then you have our Daisy who could care less heat cold she doesn't care!
Thanks! After Lydia took her nap this afternoon she really took a downward spiral. She isn't lookng good at all. Her fever is now up to 102 (not terribly high but hers is usually around 97). She is sleeping now. She keeps thinking she is going to throw up, so I expect a middle of the night call from Arminda.

Poor baby, she was so disapointed not to see Grandma and Tessa today! Me too, I almost cried I was so disapointed! It seems like we just can't all be well at the same time this winter!
Poor Lydia! i hope she is doing better today!

Kyle's cough is a bit better but his nose is gross!
You have to run around your machine while following the pattern?:rotfl2: Do the directions say you have to stand on one leg too? :rotfl: I KNEW there was a reason I didn't like patterns::yes::

Wait, I know-it is areobic sewing!!!!! :cheer2:

Can you guess who ELSE is up past their bedtime? LOL

I NEED to stop "skimming" this thread LOL
:rotfl2: hey if that is the case maybe I can get a work out in!

That is so cute! wrinkled and all!!!!
I can't even imagine the work that goes into smocking!!! It is beautiful!
I bet you are being way to critical of your own work and I bet the Mickey and Minnie are adorable!
The only bummer about my sewing machine is that I only can use a 4x4 hoop. I figured that should at least last me a few yrs and then I will want a bigger hoop.

Well today we are off to one of my girlfriends DD cheer competitions. The girl that was in the competition was my JR coach when I coached Cheer this fall. She asked us if we could come watch her so we figured it would be fun to take the younger girls Nikki and her 2 friends who are VERY into cheer to see how the big girls do it. I also figured it would be good for me since I ahve been told that 'I AM' coaching again this yr LOL Ok I admit I lved it so I am happy they want m to do it again:cheer2: :cheer2:

Kyle gets to stay home with Daddy because he is sick.

You ladies have been chatty today!! I am just now catching up. My 17mo DS had surgery this morning (tubes and adnoids) and he was really SLOW to come out of his anestesia. He is still really groggy.

How is he doing this morning? Better, I hope.

Ok here is Jenna's Valentine's Day outfit. Well one of them atleast. She picked some other fabric and I told her that I would make her another outfit with it. We have decided that hearts can be worn anytime of the year.
S2010248-1.jpg

Very cute, and hearts can definitely be worn year round.

Here is the decepticon shirt as promised to Hunter. I didn't use a satin stitch this time, just straight on white felt. The other is black flannel in satin stitch.
hunterwithDshirt.jpg

decepticonshirt.jpg

Both the decepticon and transformer shirts turned out cute. I like them even though I have no idea what a decepticon is. LOL!!!!!

Here is what I have been doing the past couple of days. I made another t-shirt dress. This one was only a xlg and not really long enough to make a real dress, I guess I could have added a ruffle. I lettuce edged the sleeves this time for a different look.

IMG_1079.jpg

Why is it so fuzzy? I'm sure it's not because of my superior photography skillz! :lmao:

I really wanted Shannon's gymbucks, but we just went there and I am trying to restrain myself. Megan fell in love with this t-shirt so I cut up some of her jeans to make a whole outfit. She won't try it on cause she's mean today.

IMG_1084.jpg

And this is yesterday morning. She was excited to find frost on the ground, "just like Michigan!" I can't believe it got this cold way down here!

IMG_1083.jpg

Cute stuff, but I did not like seeing the tiny bit of frost that we had. Brrrrr!!!! I am such a wimp.

This is beautiful! I have never learned how to smock and probably never will! The whole dress is just stunning!

Question for all you smockers! Is there a good place site to learn to smock? I LOVE the look, but I'm very intimidated by the idea. Where do you even start? Any recommendations?

I messed up my multi quote, but really wanted to say I love love love the smocked Snow White. I just love that it's her with the animals!

Those jeans and gymbo top are darling too!

LOL! Yes, and then you do the hokey pokey and turn yourself about! :rotfl2:

Well I'm slowly making some progress on my to do list. I only have 2 weeks left and a ton of sewing to do. I finished the 2 vida's with Daisy Duck, the 2 vida's with Minnie and back ruffles (thanks Jeanne for the idea:idea: ), and 2 bowling shirts with Mickey. I have the 2 Mary Poppins appliqued so I hope to get those sewn together tomorrow. Then on to the 100th day of school outfit for DGD4 for next Tuesday. Thanks Darla for the ideas. Then I have to squeeze in Valentines dresses for 2DGD's and then back to my list of stuff for our trip to the world on the 20th of Feb. :scared1: :scared1: I don't know if I'll get it all done.

It all sounds wonderful, I know you will get it all done. You're a great grandma!

Wow, absolutely stunning! Your daughter is just so adorable too.

Wow...you guys sure do keep busy!!! Once again, such beautiful outfits posted. I am hoping to share some more of mine soon. It sounds like it will super cute. Megan's room is still half little girl/half nursery. I am really horrible at decorating. Probably by the time I get all the nursery stuff out she will be a teenager!

Me either!

I can't wait to see the other things you've been working on.

I promised that I'd post pics of what I decided to do with the closure of the wrap dress. I had actually purchased a frog closure, but when I went to put it on, I couldn't find it. SO, I went with my second choice. Buttons. I also put in a snap at the neckline where it makes a "v" just to make sure that it doesn't gap. I have to say that it appears to be very secure to me. I don't think that we'll have any problems with it falling off! SO, here's the pics.

This one is just to prove that my DD does still exist! YES, she is asleep, and YES, she has on her PJ's. She wasn't too happy with me.

Gorgeous girl, even when grumpily asleep in her pjs! I was hoping to see the frog closure, but the button looks cute. Very smart adding an extra snap. It looks even more beautiful on!
