Thanks so much!!! Question for ya, you know the little flappy fold you iron in - where does that end up going?? Im not positive??????

Hmmm.... I'm not sure what part you are talking about. Do you mean on the hat band? The part that is ironed 1/2 inch in becomes the inside. It becomes a nice neat edge that you topstitch (from the other side) to close the seam. Does that make sense?

What, I think your photography skilz are right there with your sewing, you have mad skilz! Sorry about the cold. I saw them spraying the orange trees on the news. I remember when it use to get so cold there. I love the pirate dress, It is my favorite but everything is so dang cute. Where is the little dog? She didn't sneak in the picture, is she inside staying warm? Great clothes.

LOL! That dog does seem to sneak into the pictures, doesn't he? I think he was curled up under a blanket most of the day. For a breed that came from Germany, he doesn't seem to like the cold at all!

I hate it when I can't get the sizing right. Usually a 7 in Carla's patterns is just right with a little moving room. I think I may have made the seam allowance too big.

I keep trying to talk DH into letting me use one of his shirts to make Jenna a dress and he won't let me. :sad2: I might do it anyways. You think I could get away with it? :rotfl2: I love the Gymbo outfit that you made. The nearest Gymboree to us is in Lafayette and we haven't been there in awhile. We should make a trip to Lafayette, they have a Joann's.

I know, that frustrates me so much when the sizing is a bit off. If I wanted something that didn't fit her, I would buy it in a store. You'll get it right next time.

I have snuck a Hawaiian shirt out of his closet and made a dress out of it, but that's it. Unfortunately, he is not a big man and his shirts are not big enough for a whole dress. Look for the stuff in his closet that still has the tags on; that's what I did. It would probably be better for my wallet if the Gymboree was further away, lol.

Love the girls and their outfits. My favorite is where they are hugging, so sweet! I made some patchwork shorts for a big give, but seeing them on your girls reminds me how cute they are and I should make some more!

I was just thinking about you Susan! I'm glad you are doing well and of course they would pick that beautiful child to be a model. Thanks for checking in!

You've been busy! So cute. Love this jacket

I just wanted to say the jacket is from Old Navy, I didn't want you to think I made it!

I love all your stuff, but those jeans are adorable!!!

Thank you so much! I was thinking as I made them, they are so easy I should make a little tutorial for them. My daughter gets so many compliments on them when she wears them and they take so little time.

:thumbsup2

Whew, that totally makes sense and thats what I have done too!!! Thanks!!

You should - it would be awesome!!!!!

Well, no sewing today but I did cut out material to make the top for a Big give outfit and cut out material for Sara Beth's colonial williamsburg dress. Hopefully I will get some sewing done tomorrow and might even have time to skoot over to moms to use her serger. If I am making something for someone else it has to be serged! Any ideas where to get a good used serger? I really want one but don't have the money.

Dh is playing phone tag with a company in Wisconsin. I would love to move there even more afer reading more about it. Hopefully he can catch up with the lady who called.

Ok here is Jenna's Valentine's Day outfit. Well one of them atleast. She picked some other fabric and I told her that I would make her another outfit with it. We have decided that hearts can be worn anytime of the year.
th_S2010248-1.jpg

I tried to get one of her twirling, but the wind is blowing too hard. She loves her outfit. She won't take it off and can't wait until we go get DH from work so she can show it off. I think when I make her another one I will make the size 8. This one is a little tight on her.

This is very cute! I was just thinking the other day about how hearts are year round....trying to convince myself to buy some Valentines material on sale!

Here is the decepticon shirt as promised to Hunter. I didn't use a satin stitch this time, just straight on white felt. The other is black flannel in satin stitch.
th_hunterwithDshirt.jpg

Now, I am putting all sewing away for the rest of the day and plan to just rest. I did finish my sundress and will get pictures up later. Next is the bowling shirts.

great job on the applique. I really really need to try this applique out. I have all the materials I need but never the time!

Here is what I have been doing the past couple of days. I made another t-shirt dress. This one was only a xlg and not really long enough to make a real dress, I guess I could have added a ruffle. I lettuce edged the sleeves this time for a different look.

th_IMG_1079.jpg

Why is it so fuzzy? I'm sure it's not because of my superior photography skillz! :lmao:

I really wanted Shannon's gymbucks, but we just went there and I am trying to restrain myself. Megan fell in love with this t-shirt so I cut up some of her jeans to make a whole outfit. She won't try it on cause she's mean today.

th_IMG_1084.jpg

And this is yesterday morning. She was excited to find frost on the ground, "just like Michigan!" I can't believe it got this cold way down here!

th_IMG_1083.jpg

Still love the lettuce edge on the shirt! Those pants are cool! I have a few cute gymboree shirts for Sara Beth. I think I need to make some pant like those!
I saw on the news the strawberries in the frost! Yikes! We were very cold here in NC too last week...with some snow too!

Danica- here is a Cinderella outfit I made for Jenna.

So sute!

Cute dress and Gymbo outfit but that photo of Megan in the frost is too cute! She looks so happy.:rotfl:

Okay here are a few different pics. We had the best time ever. We are so looking forward to June. We can't wait. The girls were in awe the entire trip.
th_image222.jpg
Great photos! Those outfits are all so cute. I really loved the pieced shorts and Mickey head. Love this photo of the girls!

Some of you remember me sewing for Makayla. Well, I had bilateral knee replacement surgery back in Nov and not doing too much prior to or afterwards....but I had some good news today. DD sent the photo below of Makayla taken in WDW (along with some others in leotard with measurements) to Curtain Call Dance Catalog. They were doing a model search...she sent the photos in last week and they called her today and selected Makayla as one of the models...YEA...how exciting for a just turned 4 year old!!! I am following your thread and love all of your creations. Just wanted to say hi and pass along the good news. Hi, Teresa!

How exciting! She's so adorable!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! I can never find those!

...
Leighanna specifically asked for something with a dog on it! I thought of Lady because she loves that Movie. As far as appliqueing goes, it takes me alot of time to cut each piece, and then iron it all together. The thought of messing up all that hard work with some wonky stitches scares me!
...

That is a gorgeous dress Tom. Do you have an applique pressing sheet? I have found that saves a lot of the time I used to spend getting each piece placed "just so". I really think it paid for itself quickly in the time and frustration I saved.

UGH! I finally sat down to attach the closures for the Chinese New Year dress, and now I can't find the frog closure that I bought! WHERE did it GO? UGH!

Steph,

When doing the lettuce edge, you are using your regular machine or your serger?

If its the regular, you put it on zig zag and then.......???????

I tried my first raglan, and Im not sure I handled the knit properly, the neck looks really big (and one sleeve somehow was about 3 inches longer than the other !!!!:rotfl2: ) but I was able to fix that......I used the self pattern piece for the neck since i wasnt using ribbing, is that right????

Everything posted looks so cute!!!

1) Set the stitch on zig zag, set on a tighter stitch (1 on my Kenmore)

2) Gently stretch the knit as the fabric feeds through, one "zig" on the fabric, the other "zag" off the edge. Stretch from the back and the front. I roll the edge slightly as I feed through (you almost need three hands but the knit kind of rolls itself).

3) Run around once or twice.

As long as the neck piece is stretchy, I would think it would be fine.

I think you should have left one sleeve three inches longer, "hey, did my left arm grow?" Can you tell I am up past my bedtime (and fully loaded with cosmos, to Teresa's dismay!)?

You can do it!

Wow, these are awesome! Your girls are too cute, I love the one with them hugging!

Here is Lily's casual Cinderella. I'm going to make a similar one for my niece with easy fit pants.

So cute, I love the casual princess outfits.

Well, my ruffler arrived today with pretty much NO directions. Thanks Bernina! But leave it to CarlaC and her brilliance I'm working out the specs so I can get going. It is an amazing little (or should I say big... even my husband was like, "what is that thing?") presser foot.

I realize I forgot to tag the black/white with pink in back dress. What a beauty. It reminds me of Animators Palate on DCL where the room and artwork start out in B/W and as the dinner progresses everything gets colored in. Can you tell my mind is on the cruise... 10 months to go!

Did you know Crystal's Great Aunt knew Dolly Parton? It's in her 25 random things note on Facebook! She wrote and sang songs! Her name is escaping me now though!

My SIL has a girlfriend, and I'm not sure it's all it's cracked up to be!!! :rotfl: That girl calls her CONSANTLY! ALL the time! If my SIL is here for over an hour, the girlfriend starts calling! She likes to keep close tabs on her. I think I'd rather have a husband than a nagging wife!!! :rotfl:

I would charge her! That's a lot of work if she really does expect you to make them all! You are too nice!

I will agree with that, my DH normally doesn't nag. Unless he is hungry and I don't have a "suitable" meal planned!

I really couldn't charge her, like I said she is my BFF and has been for like 27 years. It just figures she would want the most difficult of anything!

Carla!!! This a fantastic idea!!! :):) I think a Princess pattern would sell like hotcakes. I know I would love to have it. DD2 loves her Calico Cinderella dress so much. She wears it all the time. I love it because it is not the full poofy gown.

I'm going to second this idea! I think a non-costume (by this I mean made w/o satins and fancy fabrics) gown pattern would be fantastic! You know you already have a whole board full of people who would be anxiously awaiting to purchase it!

Susan! It is so nice to see you here again! Makayla is so beautiful!

UGH! I finally sat down to attach the closures for the Chinese New Year dress, and now I can't find the frog closure that I bought! WHERE did it GO? UGH!

I hate it when things like that happen (and they seem to happen a lot to me!). Hope you find them fast!

Can I have a cosmo too? Pretty please! Actually, if you don't mind I really prefer a chocolate martini, YUMMY!

Uh, I meant ancient in terms of sewing machines! It's just a major pain to get the tension set right (took me a couple of years to figure out that's what was wrong with it:rotfl2: ) It's not an antique or anything, but I think it's probably as old as I am (and I'm not that young either). It's a model 3800. The picture on the manual looks to be like from the early 70s. After my MIL gave it to me, I had her make me curtains for the 1st baby's room & said she could use it, but she said "Oh no, mine at home is much easier to use!" Ummm thanks for giving me something that's a pain! :confused3

Ok, well that IS an old machine!! :rotfl: Not quite as old as me though!

Cute little shirt/dress Steph!!!

Hehe, I love Megan's "Michigan" picture! Of course if she was really in Michigan right now, she'd be up to her knees in snow!

I love those pants! You SHOULD do a tutorial!

Okay here are a few different pics. We had the best time ever. We are so looking forward to June. We can't wait. The girls were in awe the entire trip.

Hi Susan!

Well, duh! Of course they want her as one of their models! She's gorgeous!

Stick around awhile, we've missed you! :flower3:

(((Lydia))) I hope she's feeling better soon.

Thanks Teresa. I love the ruffles and thankfully Madilynn does still too. It's just a pain to ruffle all that fabric. That's why the other pattern caught my eye. Twirl factor without ruffling :thumbsup2

Thanks! After Lydia took her nap this afternoon she really took a downward spiral. She isn't lookng good at all. Her fever is now up to 102 (not terribly high but hers is usually around 97). She is sleeping now. She keeps thinking she is going to throw up, so I expect a middle of the night call from Arminda.

Poor baby, she was so disapointed not to see Grandma and Tessa today! Me too, I almost cried I was so disapointed! It seems like we just can't all be well at the same time this winter!

LOL! That dog does seem to sneak into the pictures, doesn't he? I think he was curled up under a blanket most of the day. For a breed that came from Germany, he doesn't seem to like the cold at all!

Oh Steph, Steph, Steph... :sad2:

1) 3) Run around once or twice.

You can do it!

You have to run around your machine while following the pattern?:rotfl2: Do the directions say you have to stand on one leg too? :rotfl: I KNEW there was a reason I didn't like patterns::yes::

Wait, I know-it is areobic sewing!!!!! :cheer2:

Can you guess who ELSE is up past their bedtime? LOL

I NEED to stop "skimming" this thread LOL

Well I'm slowly making some progress on my to do list. I only have 2 weeks left and a ton of sewing to do. I finished the 2 vida's with Daisy Duck, the 2 vida's with Minnie and back ruffles (thanks Jeanne for the idea:idea: ), and 2 bowling shirts with Mickey. I have the 2 Mary Poppins appliqued so I hope to get those sewn together tomorrow. Then on to the 100th day of school outfit for DGD4 for next Tuesday. Thanks Darla for the ideas. Then I have to squeeze in Valentines dresses for 2DGD's and then back to my list of stuff for our trip to the world on the 20th of Feb. :scared1: :scared1: I don't know if I'll get it all done.
