I love all your outfits! Dh came in and said...look they are the same age as us! It is me (35) dh (38) dd(14) and dd(5). That is too funny!

All 3 of us. My mom also has Dumbo shirt like mine.
ThreeofusinDumbo.jpg

Great job on the Dumbo...with all those ruffles, I hope you have forgotten all your Simba shirts orders ;)

Thanks for all the prayers...I am just a short time away from driving home but wanted to give an update on my Granny.

They were unable to give her tPA because they don't know when she had the stroke. They are not sure why this happened and there are meds missing from her pill box that should still be in there...tonight's, and all of tomorrows...we don't know if she took them all by accident or if she never filled the box, which would be strange for her.

She was only able to say "Granny can't" this morning when she was trying to get my mom...now she can put 3 & 4 words together. She is walking and can only lift one arm. They will be running more test between now and when I get there I am sure. I will try to keep you updated...I am so sure that all your prayers had made the differnce. Thank you.

Still praying for Granny. Glad there has been some improvement.

I just got the design for the creative DISign board. I printed it out on ink jet iron on paper. I ironed it on the bag.

Thank you!

Did you seal the edges somehow?

Wondering the same thing!

I didn't seal the edges. I did an iron on design on another bag and it stayed. In fact I tried to peel it off to redo it and no way was it going to come off. My friend used the iron on paper and she didn't get the one for dark colors and it peels off. It was not as good as what I bought. I bought the one for ironing on dark fabric.

Wow, I can't believe it worked that good!!!

Love it!!!

Leslie, that's how I read it too. (yes, I read the actual law) This is the section that worries me, it is talking about the finished product:
third%20party%20testing.JPG

Although, I'm unclear from this if it would have to be each size?

I don't think anyone wants to argue about this. I completely agree with Crystal about reading the law yourself. It's never a good idea to rely on what other people tell you that it says. If how you understand it worries you, then make a fuss!

It is alot like our policies with the prison system they are written vaguely and different people read things differently. We have operational review SGTs who check and see if we are following procedure the one on our unit always reads things into policies there has to be someone who we can contact that can give us an interprtation of this law. I hope we wont be effected its just another way to knock the little buisness people down so the big guys make all the bucks.

OH MY! Look at all that cuteness! You've done an awesome job on all of these!!!!!!

I love this!! How did you do the applique? I know I read earlier in the thread that it is popular right now. Is it something you downloaded or purchased? Or are you just such a sewing diva that you made it yourself :)

The face is just so cute!!

Thanks everyone on the comments on my Minnie set. I think DD actually liked this one (though she wouldn't admit it) She kept most of it on tonight and kept sashaying around making the apron ties swing. ;) The bows are by JennWDW (of course. ;) )

Shannalee - I piece my appliques, I don't have an embroidery machine (yet) I find a picture or clip art that I like then I trace each piece of it onto fusible web. Then it gets ironed onto the fabrice, cut out and pieced back together like a puzzle. Then applique. Easy Peasy! Heather actually made up an awesome tutorial on it. I do know that the image I used is popular though, and you can buy the same design for embroidery machines.

Leslie and Charlinn-I love the outfits that you guys posted. Too cute.

I can't wait to get started on making Jenna's Summer and Halloween outfits.

I have a question about the Easy Fit Pants. I made some for my daughter and it was really easy. I am mostly done with her clothes for her trip and am due to post some pics to show but that is not what this is about. I am on to working on the boys' clothes. I made a bunch of mickey head shirts for my oldest today and now I am working on bottoms for both. The question is about making these pants for little ones. I am actually trying to make shorts but he is a stubby little guy . What do you do for the shorties? When I use the measurements I took for him then they are shorter than where the bottom is. Does that make sense? Is it possible that I can't use this to make shorts but will have to make longer pants?? Thanks for any help.

Here's my first ever Minnie set. I started with the stripwrk jumper and capris. I've been dying to try an apron, so that was next. Of course I needed a tee to take pictures with just the jeans and apron...

Leslie, that set is just adorable!!!! So versatile and cute!!!

BUT!!! Get that girl inside and give her some hot chocolate!!!! Wasn't she FREEZING!? :cold:

Okay ladies and gents,
I'm ready to post something I made this week. My MIL gave me 6, yes 6, yards of this brown fleece that I don't really care for. It's nice fleece and I'd like to use it, so I'm racking my brain trying to think af things I can do to make the fleece a little more appealing. I graduated from Colorado State University, we still live in the area, and their colors coordinate with the brown fleece. So as my brother (also an alum) would say "GO C-SUE".

Poor Noah is not feeling well, I think this might have been the only time he laughed all day :guilty: . Then when we took off his jacket, he melted down because he had thought we were going outside

Also, I just wanted to celebrate with you guys because I know you'll understand: I officially booked my WDW package today:cheer2: !!!! We are staying for 9 nights, 10 days at the Wilderness Lodge. I can't wait!

Prayers said for everyone's grandmas. I would be devistated if something happened to my grandma, so my heart goes out to you.

That is adorable!!! Your boys are so cute! Great use of the fleece!

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Are you saying that the pattern for his hip size is too long for shorts without making the custom pattern? Could you just make a little longer shorts? Are you sure the pattern is printed out correctly?

LOL! I rewarded her well for braving the cold for a few pictures!! I warned her it was cold - when she walked outside she said, "Oh, it's not cold!" It wasn't windy (Thank goodness!) but it was barely 25 out. Matthew wanted to come outside too!! ;) I went out in a tee too and she was right it wasn't that bad. Granted I wouldn't want to stay out for more than a few minutes like that.

[quote="peachygreen, post: 29936382"]This may be a silly question, but what is 1/8" cording?

I am making a dress with a collar and it calls for 1/8" cording to make piping in the collar. I can't say I've ever used it before (heck I've never done a collar that I can think of either, so I am in all new territory). Is the piping there to hold the collar stiff? Is it required? I'm doing the middle dress on the pattern in the attached link. I'm working on the underdress right now. I have everything cut, but then I realized I didn't get piping. I hate when you are on a roll and don't have a piece needed for putting it together.

The piping on the collar is more decorative. You can eliminate that step if you want!

I got one at the Handcocks in Austin, TX - but I also saw it at our local Joann Fabrics....

I've seen them at Field's Fabrics (I think that is more of a Michigan store) and Joann's, ours were near the umm, shoot, the name is escaping me!!! The stuff you use for appliques! I've never seen it at Hobby Lobby, but then again, I've never really looked there!
I couldn't believe that my Hancock's and Joanns didn't have it! They were clueless as to what I was talking about too. I'm hoping the quilt shop in town has one. I was told that quilters use those to piece together quilts. If not then it is :wizard: for me I guess.

HI!!

Cording is the rope style thread that goes inside of your created piping. The advantage to making your own piping is that you can create whatever color piping you desire. It is more work but for some projects it is just priceless. I love making a printed piping...it gives it a how different edge. You do not have to add it though as it is really just a decorative finish. Now that I rambled on and on....I hope that helps a little. :)

I'm debating if I am going to do the pinafore or a Simply sweet top to go over the underdress.
I know someone replied to your question, but I just wanted to say that I love piping. I put it on just about everything I sew. You can get the cording in different sizes. I use some that is really tiny. I think it might be 1/16 of an inch. It is smaller than the one you get at Hancocks and Joanns. I get it from an heirloom shop. It is really cheap too. It's 10 cents a yard.
I think it really adds alot to collars. It is kind of difficult to get used to sewing it in. Some people use a pintuck foot. I use a zipper foot because I find it is easier to see. You make the piping by cutting bias strips, folding it in half, and then sandwiching the cording in the fold of the fabric. You can then sew it down to keep it in place. Don't sew right close to the piping but give yourself a little room to get another row of stitching in. Then you put your collar pieces right sides together with the bias piping in between the two pieces. You put the bias in the direction to where when you flip the collar out it will be sticking out from the collar. You want to sew it as close to the cording as you can without hitting the cording. Zipper foot works great for that. You can also buy mini piping and piping in various colors. I don't like that alot because the colors seem to fade alot, and I like to use the smaller cording. Pre-made piping is great for quick projects though.
Sorry I went on for so long. I'm just a piping/cording fanatic. I use whip stitch piping alot lately too which is a pre-made piping that you can get cut by the yard at alot of heirloom shops.
Here is a link to how to make your own piping.
http://sewing.about.com/od/techniques/ss/cordingpiping.htm
And yes.. you can make the collar without the piping of course! It is a little tricky going around the curves. Just go slow if you decide to give it a try.
;)
Oh, and gingham piping is my favorite!!

Yes, it is almost 4am but DS had an accident and came in all wet. Poor guy he has done super for almost 2 weeks. Nitetime is so hard but he is learning.

I finished his TF printed shirt today with a whole lot of help from Crystal. I got very stuck on the collar. I am old school and call it under and upper collar. It is now called collar and facing. The bowling shirt is much easier but I am trying to learn how to understand the instuctions in a commercial pattern so I can make dresses for myself.

DS is sure he wearing this to school today but yesterday was -22. I don't think he is wearing it unless he has a long sleeve pull over under it.

Absolutely amazing work. Your clothes are just beautiful and thanks for the cute little model. She is adorable and the clothes are a perfect fit. How long did it take you to make the clothes? The applique is flawless. Great job.

I have a question about the Easy Fit Pants. I made some for my daughter and it was really easy. I am mostly done with her clothes for her trip and am due to post some pics to show but that is not what this is about. I am on to working on the boys' clothes. I have made shorts a few times with the pattern. Every time I do it seems odd while making them and I have to really think about it when laying it out and cutting it. The main part is to keep the top the same length, so there is enough room in the behind. It seems there is barely a few inches below the crotch once I am done, but it all works out in the end and look pretty normal once together.

I know, a picture would be nice. Let me think about where I might have one.

I really came for a drive by and only glanced at pictures! There was so much new and so cute posted! Back to work!

Can you guys tell me where you get your teflon pressing sheets?
I've called Hancock fabrics, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Wal Mart and most of them had no clue what I was talking about, but went and looked and said they don't have it.
I really don't want to order one online. I want it now! :snooty:
I have my applique all cut out and ready to go. :(
I had the same problem finding one! Every store the people looked at me like I had 2 heads when I asked for one too! So my mm just ordered one from hancock and she ordered one for herself for pressing clothes but she didn't like it so I HAD 2 until a few days ago when I returned the unopened one! UGH! When I returned it the lady at hancocks had no clue what it was! UGH If i would have known I would have sent it to you! Sorry!!!!!

I love the look on her face too. I haven't seen that look since Heather made her dress. I cried when I took that picture.

Club cheer is ran through the Jr Football club here. They also have cheer squads. The girls(and 1 boy) perform every Saturday and compete against other franchises. All season they are scored on their hospitality at home and away. At the end of the season they have a competition based on routines and then the squad with the best hospitality is awarded the Spirit Cup

Very cute!! Madilynn was sitting next to me this morning while I was reading here (yes I started this quote hours ago) and she saw this and said "Oh momma I really do NEED that" I told her she couldn't have it because she didn't want the pink skirt I got her. She quickly told me "Make me that shirt and the pink fluffy can stay":rotfl:
I would have cried too!

the club cheer is kind of like Nik's football squad. they perform at the football games and then we are going to try to get them in competitions. It is so much fun!!!!!!

that is so funny what your little girl said about the petti!

Poor Noah is not feeling well, I think this might have been the only time he laughed all day :guilty: . Then when we took off his jacket, he melted down because he had thought we were going outside :guilty: :guilty: .

Great job on everything!!!!!!!

It is not as easy as that! sure the steps are easy and Heather ahs a grea tutorial but the actual appliqueing isn't that easy! Or maybe I am just REALLY bad at it!:rotfl2: I love the look of appliqued stuff so I keep trying! But man I need to get better or I am giving up! I will post my latest disaster in a few!

Are you doing the custom pattern?

Really cute! I might have to find some of that fabric for Kyle!!!! you are brave to stray from the ycmt patterns! Every time i do i realize why I shouldn't!

I actually take off 2 inches off the top because for some reason on my kids the crotch hangs so LOW!!! So I take 2 off the top and add 2 at the bottom. I have done it twice and both times i like them much better. Maybe my kids just have no butts!:rotfl:
