Good morning all. I am in need of more flannel for my quilting projects and need a bit of help from someone who shops at Joann Fabrics. You see I haven't received my sales flyer that would be for the sale starting 1/18. Did anyone get one and if so could you tell me if any flannel is going on sale? Thanks so much for all your help.

I made my Wild Minnie dress for Becca's Big Give. She requested it. I was worried that the ruffles on the back would be uncomfortable sitting on all day, so I modified it so that it was just strips. I think it turned out pretty good that way. Plus, that's a lot easier than ruffles!

I like these sleeves a lot better than the ones Lydia picked out for hers!

Such a fun dress! They will love it!

Jenny update:

I was so worried today because I kept calling and couldn't contact anyone!! I finally heard from her husband and they just discharged her from the hospital. They did the laproscopic exploratory thing and they didn't find anything. So, they are assuming this was a really bad infection. He said she was feeling better, but he said she was "out of it" and couldn't talk. So, I'm wondering how she's going to do at home without the IV drugs. I'm still worried that they may not have found out what is wrong. Hopefully I'll be able to talk to her tomorrow and get the real scoop.

Thank you all so much for the prayers. :grouphug::hug:

Okay, now I'm going to try and catch up.
So glad she is out ! i hope she is feeling much better today!

Matching Buzz Lightyear Bowling shirts. I am sorry this picture is so small. DH charged the camera battery the night before and we left it in the hotel room. He took this picture with his iphone and we have some on Photo pass that I didn't buy yet. I also took some pictures with a disposable camera I have.

I didn't finish everything I wanted to do for the trip. I had a Lightning McQueeen bowling shirt cut out but I didn't sew it together.

I wanted to make DD a retro style Minnie mouse Skort and appliqued shirt but didn't have enough time. I also have a Hannah Montana shirt cut out.
VERY cute!

The room looks adorable! Love the pj's too!

Doesn't someone's DH work at wal-mart?

Mine is thinking of responding to an IT ad for Bentonville.

I don't know about working for Wal-Mart, but Bentonville is a really pretty area to live in. And if you like the Razorbacks you're set, otherwise just don't talk to loud. :lmao: It's VERY close to UofA.

 I knew I should've gotten that fabric when I saw it. I just couldn't figure out what I'd do with it.

Is anybody else reading Stephenie Meyer's The Host? I just started it (trying to appease myself with it instead of rereading the twilight sage a 4th time)
Im not as in to The Host, so far its a bit, eh, for me. Kind of sci-fi and I had an awful dream last night that I think was from out of the book (I wont go into details, it was a very scary dream) but lets just say it has to do with trying to remove a "soul" from my head!! Ack!

I read The Host & really liked. It's very different than Twilight though. It takes a little longer to really get started, but once it's going, it's really good.

that is a great dress for AK or just being at AKL. We love the zebra sleeves.

I got my sewing machine today so I'm trying to work on several "half finished" projects. I finally hunted down the last piece of bias tape I needed. Three stores later and I'm done with Lily's Small World skirt. I'll eventually get her to model it. I need someone to make some bows for me now! I bought ribbon but I sit and look at it and think maybe not. Have I mentioned I love finding a shirt I like and then making a skirt to match it? :rotfl:

Jeanne, this is just too cute. Your work is amazing.

Here is something a little touchy for me - i was looking ahead on my schedule, as you guys know I am an occupational therapist at duPont hospital for children where my nephew is being treated for a brain tumor/cancer. well, on my schedule next friday is a 2 year old with the same thing!!!! whew, how am i going to evaluate him without crying????
Wendy, My heart goes out to you. You will do fine on Friday because you want to provide the best care possible. That is who you are, a wonderful, caring, loving person who wants the best. No tears sweetheart, just be yourself. Prayers being asked for you.

I am almost done with Nik's V day skirt. I REALLY wanted to applique a tshirt for the top to go with it but I couldn't find any long sleeved that would match! So what does a good Disboutiquer do make one!
Any way I am making Carla's flouncy skort.
Do you think a Round neck shirt would be ok with it? Or a pillow case dress /shirt? Or should I do my beloved Carla's peasant top with some variations? Like straight sleeves????
I know bot are sleeveless but i have shirts she could wear under it i just don't want to applique those shirts because they go with other outfits.

If any one has any other ideas that would be great I am drawing a blank! When i saw the material I saw one shirt with the skort and now I can't find it. then again I do have some short sleeve t's I could just do and she could wear a long sleeve under it????

HELP!!!!!

I second the Peasant top vote. I love making the peasant tops, because they look great with just about anything.

That is fabulous Jeanne! The colors match so perfectly.

Love the jammies, I used the same material to make robes for my boys for Christmas!
th_016.jpg

Cute! I really liked the present fabric that you used for the PJ's, but my store didn't have that one in flannel.

I had a question for those of you who do the rag quilts. I saw the directions in the bookmarks........are those the ones that everyone is using? Since I've never done anything like this before I want to make sure I do it right! Also, if I am using cotton as the "front" side, do most of you use flannel as the back side and the middle? And I want mine to be "throw" size for my girls (I'm apparently crazy and going to do three of them), any ideas how big that is? I guess I should go look it up on a blanket, huh?

I'm not sure which tutorial is in the bookmarks, but this is one that I have bookmarked (I read a bunch of different ones). http://www.knitandtonic.typepad.com/SimpleRagQuilt.pdf

In the end I decided how big I wanted the quilt and then just decided on the number and size of the squares to make it fit. I used a 1/2 inch seam allowance. The only thing you really have to remember when sewing is to keep wrong sides together so the seam allowance is always in the front. I used the cottons for the top, flannel for the middle and that soft and comfy fabric with the bumps for the back. That fabric didn't really fray, but I loved how soft it was.

Becca is going to love that Teresa!! Great idea to use the strips rather than the ruffles.

I'll stop hogging the board in just a second...

Sammy in PJs I made her, using CarlaC's bowling shirt with elongated sleeves and Easy Fit pants.

Great minds think alike, huh? :thumbsup2 She looks so cute and proud of her new jammies. I lost the pics, but I loved the die cuts you used to decorate her room and sewing machine.

I posted earlier, but does anyone have an idea for a stroller blanket/bunting made out of fleece?

Just want you to know that I'm not ignoring you. I just didn't have any ideas. I googled Simplicity patterns since JoAnn's has them for $.99 this week and it looks like 3721 has a stroller bunting. Mccalls patterns are also $1.99 but I didn't see any stroller covers.

The sale flyer I have is good until 1/31. There is an insert for the sale that ends 1/17. Snuggle flannel is 50% off in that insert ending 1/17. I didn't see any flannel in the regular flyer.

Thanks Teresa! She loves the jammies. I am honestly a bit sad the patterns don't come in my size! :sad1:

I was thrilled to find Simplicity 9871. It sews up exactly like Carla's easy fit pants. I just made some fleece PJ pants for DH and I can't wait to make some for me. They are awesome!

You could always do what I just thought about doing yesterday. Use CarlaC's raglan pattern to make the layered sleeve look on a short sleeve t you already own! I was packing up my sons short sleeve shirts, thinking what a shame since they all fit, when I realized I could use some white knit fabric to make long layered sleeves! :)

Ok may do the peasant top and just applique on that! I love that pattern and I know it by heart i guess my concern was I use it ALL the time I am afraid she has an entire wardrobe of Peasant tops!:lmao: I guess I just need to change it up. :)

I adore the raglan pattern too! So that is another idea I just dont think I have any kit material in my stock. It wasn't on sale when I was doing my fabric shopping.

HUMMM I just remembered I TRIED to make the peasant top in a knit material and it was a disaster maybe I should revisit it because it would match.....

WOW! THAT was weird! I was going to post the same idea, and then I scrolled down and saw your suggestion- like de ja vu!except I saw someone who did it in white and I thought it would be perfect for Minnie's skort! The 3/4 length sleeve with the elastic at the "short sleeve" part and then left open at the cuff.
Minnie YES! Do that!

I love it too I think I will except it is so cold her so I can't go out and get elastic thread. SO I might need to make a casing this time for it if I get that far.

thanks everyone!
I have had so many issues with this v day outfit and nothing to do with the patterns. I originally saw it in my head with a different material for the skirt but I couldn't find it. Now the shirt I envisioned I can't find but now I can see that peasant top!

ETA -just cut the peasant top out! Only problem is the dot fabric i used for the lining of the skirt is slightly different. Hopefully no one will notice....

Time for a rant:

DH has a reason each day for us to go back to WDW. I love Disney but I need and want a good used car more. I just wish he would stop. I told him to please stop telling me about the AP offers, 4/3 offers, 40% code offer.

This morning he came up with taking DS to Disney for his birthday rather than worrying about the party. I would rather have no one show up and spend $100 for a home party then go to Disney and spend $3K! So he says lets go to Vero Beach and sit on the beach. To be that close to Disney and not go, be real.

Call me stupid but I am going to be the voice of reason. I need and want a good used car and I am not going to Disney. I am saving for a car! I swear...MEN!!!!

Everything is gorgeous!!

They may keep him until they can figure out what is causing the fever. He probably will get antibiotics as a precaution. I don't know about the radiation, but my guess would be no. I know every time you go for chemo they take blood to check your counts. If your counts aren't within a certain range then they won't let you take chemo that day. You have to wait for them to come up. I know I went in one time and they told me my counts were too low and I couldn't take treatment that day. I told them I wanted to stay on schedule so they decided that I could take treatment that day but I would have to come in the next day for a shot of Nulasta. Nulasta helps keep your counts up. I had to take that shot after every treatment from then on. Once you start taking it you have to continue taking it. That one little bitty shot in the arm was $7,000 each time. I'm glad that he qualifies for assistance from the hospital. My chemo ran approximately $15,000, including the shot, every three weeks. Thankfully for me I had double insurance at the time. My husband was deployed to Kuwait for a year and I had kept my private insurance in addition to Tricare. I was out very little money.

My mother has had breast cancer for about 25 years. She had radiation initially and then the chemo pill, tamoxifin and something else. Her blood count is so low that she has to be careful about getting a simple cut. She has had surgery and they are concerned, but it's all come out okay for her. The Drs. have taken her off of everything, pill wise, to see if they can get her blood count to raise. I wonder why they've never talked of Nulasta to her?

OH, NO, NO, NO,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost missed this one, I told Crystal last night that I was upset I did not know about "the move":lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I have not done any sewing as I am waiting for material that i ordered and some that I am getting in the mail, but ...

I GOT MY CRICUT!!

I do not have any cartridges other than the one that came with the machine, but my son used it for a school project

this is what he made...
2008_01070007.jpg

came out cute and he had no trouble with the machine!!! the only thing is that the mat that came with it is no longer sticky, so I have to order some ,

KAREN: where can I purchase cartridges at a decent price?
I see now how can this became another addiction for me!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

BTW : I've gotten pm's about the booties I made , I purchased a felt pattern on etsy but I had to change it to make them fabric, I was telling Crystal that I needed to check and make sure that it was ok, to post a free tutorial about the fabric ones, (Idid change the original shoe pattern ...I do not know if that can be considered original??)

I also have a lot of pm's that I need to check , so If I have not answered some , I am not ignoring anyone:hug: , I am a little lazy when it comes to my emails:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 and I am going thru a little depressing state that is not good for my budget,,,,,

CRYSTAL : BE THE VOICE OF REASON!!!! PLEASE TELL ME AGAIN THAT I DO NOT NEED THAT HANDBAG!!!!!!
