A wonderful gift basket awaited us in our room yesterday, courtesy of the OFC

. DD has already eaten the totem pole and we loved the sausage - a little pre-appetizer appetizer

. BTW, Randy, the manager said that they have a new vendor for their chocolate welcome gifts and they are a finer quality chocolate with a shorter shelf life. So, you guys have 3 months to eat your new welcome gifts - no saving them - enjoy them now
This is the new welcome gift, front and back. The paper that says 'OFC' comes out of the package and can be used as a bookmark and has a sketch of WL on it. The chocolate is wonderful and some packages have two turtle-shaped chocolates:
And, imagine our surprise when the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries were in our room when we returned from the MK today, courtesy of our very own sweet DISer,
TheLodgeLady. This is a Disney memory we won't soon forget

You're the best!
Here are some (very sad) River Country photos I took yesterday:
Here is a "vintage" dryer in the bathroom in front of the old entrance to RC:
Well, WDWKook, based on what you've said so far, it doesn't look like we really should split our stay between BW and WL. My DH said seeeeeeee, don't try to fix a good thing!
Is there a mock-up of the "new" room yet? Personally, I do hope the rooms get lightened up a bit.
Have the Faithful Clib offerings changed at all or are they pretty much the same?
OMGosh how are we gonna wait a whole year+!!!!!
Oh no, I hope I haven't caused any resort issues for you and DH

. Maybe a short split would be nice for the days you would spend at DHS and Epcot? Easy for me to say though since I just got that out of my system and don't feel the need to stray from the WL-CL/MK resorts area again

. Besides, the buses are usually great from WL to Epcot.
The new room/bedding will be lighter in color - you will all like the new rooms

. I haven't noticed any changes to the lounge menu since arriving here Monday. But, I love that the menu changes nightly and there's a good variety of food, unlike BWI that had the exact same items from 5-7 three days in a row and only one hot item that was always fried the 4 nights we were there. Unlike WL, there weren't any signs to identify the items served at night, so I really don't know what the hot app. was, but it changed from a spring roll to a square, fried something or other on our last night
Kook, He did mention the one with the trains on it. Were you able to see any of the room?
I am so glad they are redoing the bathrooms and sink areas, those have really taken a beaten in the last few years.
Looking forward to more photos! They really make me miss that place, but in a very good way.
Here is a photo of the hidden Mickeys on the new common area rug:
Yes, all the bathroom fixtures will be replaced, the rooms painted a lighter color, the bedding will be lighter and no more bedspreads

Helloooooo comforters
KOOK No I don't know about the shoe tree- do tell!!
Thanks for the photos, makes me wish I were back there now, but not the dreaded privacy balcony

I hate sitting there looking at a wall.
The only downside to CL.
I agree, the balcony prison is the only disadvantage. If it's any consolation, all 4 balconies of the Presidential Suite are also solid walled.
I don't know about the history of the "shoe tree in Bay Lake" near River Country. we saw it while on Sea Raycers so I couldn't take a picture (that's a no-no). It's in the water next to the shore. Maybe Mike or Randy would know

. I'll ask at app. time...
Kook BWI lasted 24hours. Now we are Seaworld/Poly...but I am still looking

Yay for WiFi GREAT PIX
When does WL get thrown back into the mix?

. I know you have a lot of work coming up now so I just want you to know that we'll miss you and your changes. But, next week holds promise for many changes for
Jeanette!
The carpeting: I didn't see any hidden Mickeys in the new carpeting. But I love the trains!
WDWKOOK-what did you think of Trail's End? My DD and I had dinner there once and it was a great deal, even if the food was only satisfying, but not amazing. We're trying it for a late breakfast this trip.
Love the pictures! Thanks.
I posted the HM rug above. I think you'll be pleased.
TE wasn't amazing, but, we would certainly return. Daniel, our server, was great and even the manager stopped by to make sure all was well. I was hoping for corn on the cob, which I love, but instead they had corn kernels pan fried with bacon and it was delicious! If you're in the mood for something more low-key than WCC and you want some ribs and fried chicken (they even have salmon, pasta and pizza), TE is great. We also loved being able to walk there and they also have a great baked potato bar and peel and eat shrimp at the salad bar. I haven't tried the breakfast, but it sounded good.
Also, thanks for the reassurances about my financial angst! It is so true that once there, all thoughts of cost are so secondary to just being there and loving it!
No problem. It's always easy to spend someone else's money
