What a wonderful surprise for your mother. You must be her favorite child;). I think an inner courtyard view is the best view because you can see Bay Lake and the geyser and the courtyard. You can see the EWP from your balcony, too. The Otter Pond is a wonderful Woods View. I would recommend requesting floor five and below so that you will have a balcony without a solid railing so that Mom can see through the railing while seated.

Well I just may be her favorite child after this trip! ;) Thanks for the reply. The inner courtyard is so beautiful that was what I was originally thinking. I'm just not sure how the noise from the pool will affect her enjoyment. It sure would be nice to watch the geyser go off from our balcony though! The Otter Pond area sounds nice too. Decisions, decisions!

May I jump in? If you are worried about the noise fripom the pool, you can request a room by Silver Springs so you can hear the 'noise' of the waterfall and still have the beautiful view! Soooo peaceful.

Great idea! Thanks!!

I didn't post a review of BWI yet. But, I think you can tell that we didn't like it as much as we thought we would. We couldn't stop comparing it with WL/CL. It's very different to be at an Epcot resort and it does have some notable advantages such as walking to both DHS and Epcot, however, for us, the advantages stopped there. I'll try to post more details soon. It's almost time to get over to FW and eat at Trails End - a first!

Yeah, it kind of seemed like you weren't that thrilled with BWI. I agree that being at an Epcot resort is very different. We stayed at the BC in 2003 and while we had a great stay (it was our first deluxe resort), the one thing we didn't like at all was that there were no CS options. We did love being within walking distance to Epcot and DHS, but we love the MK area and sometimes it's hard to go elsewhere :rolleyes1.

I am so glad they are redoing the bathrooms and sink areas, those have really taken a beaten in the last few years.

I agree :). My last WL stay was in 2010 and while I LOVE the resort, I did notice the need for a refurb.....now I can't wait to see it redone :goodvibes.

We had this view and loved it......not only is it very convenient to the pool, but the view is just beautiful :cloud9:.

KOOK No I don't know about the shoe tree- do tell!!

Thanks for the photos, makes me wish I were back there now, but not the dreaded privacy balcony  I hate sitting there looking at a wall :sad2:
The only downside to CL.

mickeynut I will report back on CL @ Poly PROMISE (if I stay there :))

Kook BWI lasted 24hours :confused3 Now we are Seaworld/Poly...but I am still looking :surfweb: Yay for WiFi GREAT PIX :dance3:

My adult daughter & I got to be flag family.

Did you request it before your trip? I am taking 2 friends who are in their 40's and have NEVER been to Disney before. I have never been flag family so it would be something new for all of us.

Unfortunately you have to ask when you check in. Even when staying Club Level. It's on a first come basis.

The longer your stay, the more likely you will get it. Make sure you wait list if there is nothing available. You never know who will cancel.

We have tried a couple of times but never got it. With my husband had being in the military and also an Eagle Scout he would love it!

Hope you are able to get it! :)

The carpeting: I didn't see any hidden Mickeys in the new carpeting. But I love the trains!

Villa balconies: are they open or private? I asked for 4th floor and was wondering if those are the privacy kind like the top floors of the lodge.

WDWKOOK-what did you think of Trail's End? My DD and I had dinner there once and it was a great deal, even if the food was only satisfying, but not amazing. We're trying it for a late breakfast this trip.
Love the pictures! Thanks. :)

Also, thanks for the reassurances about my financial angst! It is so true that once there, all thoughts of cost are so secondary to just being there and loving it! :)

Well I think I am sold! So I just reserve courtyard and request inner courtyard or is that a specific category too?

Either request inner courtyard or off the main lobby. Be very aware that you can get a courtyard view that does not view the courtyard. There are a large number of courtyard views that actually over look a quiet pool. We were very disappointed to learn that the hard way.

Thanks.....I will look forward to your review :) (that is, IF you end up staying there ).

It really is a nice location and the view can't be beat :goodvibes. As the pp said, there are alot of "courtyard" views that don't over look the inner courtyard. I know "inner courtyard" would be facing the main pool, but if it were me, I'd specify "overlooking the main pool". Have a great trip and I hope you get just the room/view you want :wizard:.

Oh my gosh, I just realized that we got an upgrade when we stayed over a year ago! We asked for near the lobby and got a room on the same level as the desk with a view of the pool and Bay Lake. We booked a woods view. We just loved the location. I hope we get as lucky this time!

A wonderful gift basket awaited us in our room yesterday, courtesy of the OFC:goodvibes. DD has already eaten the totem pole and we loved the sausage - a little pre-appetizer appetizer:). BTW, Randy, the manager said that they have a new vendor for their chocolate welcome gifts and they are a finer quality chocolate with a shorter shelf life. So, you guys have 3 months to eat your new welcome gifts - no saving them - enjoy them now::yes::

This is the new welcome gift, front and back. The paper that says 'OFC' comes out of the package and can be used as a bookmark and has a sketch of WL on it. The chocolate is wonderful and some packages have two turtle-shaped chocolates:

And, imagine our surprise when the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries were in our room when we returned from the MK today, courtesy of our very own sweet DISer, TheLodgeLady. This is a Disney memory we won't soon forget:hug::thanks:You're the best!

Well, WDWKook, based on what you've said so far, it doesn't look like we really should split our stay between BW and WL. My DH said seeeeeeee, don't try to fix a good thing!

Is there a mock-up of the "new" room yet? Personally, I do hope the rooms get lightened up a bit.

Have the Faithful Clib offerings changed at all or are they pretty much the same?

OMGosh how are we gonna wait a whole year+!!!!!
Oh no, I hope I haven't caused any resort issues for you and DH:flower3:. Maybe a short split would be nice for the days you would spend at DHS and Epcot? Easy for me to say though since I just got that out of my system and don't feel the need to stray from the WL-CL/MK resorts area again;). Besides, the buses are usually great from WL to Epcot.

The new room/bedding will be lighter in color - you will all like the new rooms:goodvibes. I haven't noticed any changes to the lounge menu since arriving here Monday. But, I love that the menu changes nightly and there's a good variety of food, unlike BWI that had the exact same items from 5-7 three days in a row and only one hot item that was always fried the 4 nights we were there. Unlike WL, there weren't any signs to identify the items served at night, so I really don't know what the hot app. was, but it changed from a spring roll to a square, fried something or other on our last night:confused3

Kook, He did mention the one with the trains on it. Were you able to see any of the room?

I am so glad they are redoing the bathrooms and sink areas, those have really taken a beaten in the last few years.

Looking forward to more photos! They really make me miss that place, but in a very good way.
Here is a photo of the hidden Mickeys on the new common area rug:

Yes, all the bathroom fixtures will be replaced, the rooms painted a lighter color, the bedding will be lighter and no more bedspreads:worship: Helloooooo comforters:cloud9:

KOOK No I don't know about the shoe tree- do tell!!

The only downside to CL.
I agree, the balcony prison is the only disadvantage. If it's any consolation, all 4 balconies of the Presidential Suite are also solid walled.

I don't know about the history of the "shoe tree in Bay Lake" near River Country. we saw it while on Sea Raycers so I couldn't take a picture (that's a no-no). It's in the water next to the shore. Maybe Mike or Randy would know:scratchin. I'll ask at app. time...

Kook BWI lasted 24hours. Now we are Seaworld/Poly...but I am still looking :surfweb: Yay for WiFi GREAT PIX
When does WL get thrown back into the mix?popcorn::. I know you have a lot of work coming up now so I just want you to know that we'll miss you and your changes. But, next week holds promise for many changes for Jeanette!

I posted the HM rug above. I think you'll be pleased.

TE wasn't amazing, but, we would certainly return. Daniel, our server, was great and even the manager stopped by to make sure all was well. I was hoping for corn on the cob, which I love, but instead they had corn kernels pan fried with bacon and it was delicious! If you're in the mood for something more low-key than WCC and you want some ribs and fried chicken (they even have salmon, pasta and pizza), TE is great. We also loved being able to walk there and they also have a great baked potato bar and peel and eat shrimp at the salad bar. I haven't tried the breakfast, but it sounded good.

Also, thanks for the reassurances about my financial angst! It is so true that once there, all thoughts of cost are so secondary to just being there and loving it!
No problem. It's always easy to spend someone else's money:thumbsup2

So I brought one of the OFC welcome gifts home in March and had not opened it yet. Since it has a shelf life, I decided to start on it today. YUM. Didn't realize that the back was removable. What a cool photo of the lodge.

Thanks for the heads up WDWKOOK.

We have stayed at the WL in the courtyard view for the past 3 years and are booked for a return trip in November. During check-in you are presented with a map of the resort and are normally shown the location of your room. During the past 2 years we have immediately requested an alternate location for the exact reason listed above. Disney is not in the business of trying to upset anyone and will do all they can accommodate you. Ask politely and magical things normally happen ;). We normally request a view of the water slide floors 3,4 or 5..

What a nice upgrade.....I hope you get some pixie dust again :goodvibes.

I am so excited to get to WL...only 3+ months away...sigh!! Thanks for the great pictures to get me excited.
