Hope this works. I've never posted pics before. Here is the scaffolding on the south facing woods view rooms.
Thanks for posting. YIKES!!! I'm kinda freaking out since we are booked in a week for a woods view with bunk beds. I will not be happy if that is the view I get!

So how does one go about this considering I'm arriving in 9 days? Ugh! Do I call & complain because I'm in a Woods View? I don't want to stare at that when I'm on my balcony enjoying a cup of coffee! What kind of repairs are they doing? Refurb of rooms?

These rooms should be taken out of inventory. You won't be in one of them, but if you have any doubts, just call and ask for your own piece of mind!

I think they are fixing up the exterior.

Who knows, you may get upgraded. Especially if they are taking rooms out of inventory.

Hello fellow lodgers! I am so excited to be making my third trip back to WL December 13-21 with my dh, ds 13, and dd11. I can't wait to see Disney at Christmas time! I want to make a room request and was wondering if any of you folks that call WL "home" can tell me if any of the woods view rooms over the WCC are bunk bed rooms. I think we might like that location for a bit of a change. We've been on the north side wing on our previous two stays. We like upper level and close to Roaring Fork (for early morning coffee and late night snacks!) Thanks in advance for your help!

Great job posting. So this is woods view, and not the end of the wing (which is Outer Courtyard)? Just helping people understand.

The waterfall works perfectly but...

The creek down from the waterfall is dry today.

(Oops. Your waterfall link has a typo.)

Wow! My family certainly hit the sweet spot with everything up and running last week. I'm frustrated for everyone that I specifically asked if something like this would be coming in August and was told "no." :(

The CM we spoke with last weekend said that the rooms with the scaffolding will be taken out of inventory while the repairs are done on the exterior.
That's good.
Interesting that when I asked about construction on Tuesday they made absolutely no mention of this. I know you have great connections. But the average guest should be able to get a straight answer when they're standing in the lobby asking (or any other time).

You would only have a view of this if you are in the very few Villas (an entirely separate building of condos, not hotel rooms) that face the main lodge building.

For peace of mind, call and add North Wing to your room request. You would be nowhere near this particular scaffolding. The creek is another issue.

Just to clarify...the scaffolding is on the south facing woods view rooms....the section to the right of the walkway from the buses....not the section closest to lake (which is courtyard view facing villas)

Nobody appears to be staying in this section where the scaffolding is so I assume they are out of inventory, they really could t put anyone in there...there are men walking all over. That would be a shock in the morning when you open curtains....

Also....the creek was running when I returned later today so must have been a minor glitch.

Oops. Is this better

Nice! :thumbsup2

Thanks again for the info, so when I check in at the Villas i'll be sure to ask for a view not facing the scaffolding.

Marlyn, just wanted to check again, there is no scaffolding around the pool area, right? As long as they don't start any pool construction early, we will be fine for our trip.

Thanks,
Marina

Man, while I'm still looking forward to our first WL stay between the pool closure and now the scaffolding mess, we should have just stayed at the Poly ; ). Funny we still have not received any communication from disney on any of this and are just a little over a month out.

Nice! :thumbsup2

Nothing at all around the pool area. The south wing with scaffolding is only noticeable from the walkway to buses. It hasn't impacted my trip at all.

I will be sure to update if I notice any increase in construction activity. For now....that is the only thing. The creek was flowing when I returned to resort yesterday,

Thanks for posting the picture of the scaffolding. We stayed in this section of the resort, in room 3104 and it is the section of the resort that is to your right as you walk back to the resort from the park buses. People in these rooms are looking at the villas.

If you look at the room number map from GrandCalifornian, the area with the scaffolding is marked in green with rooms numbered 100 - 120.

Disney bunnies are everywhere. Is it just me, or are there ears strangely tiny?

THE END! Thanks for following along. I enjoyed sharing Disney geekdom with all of you nice Lodgers.
I missed quoting you in my multi-quote the other day. I think we were posting around the same time. We so enjoyed your updates and photos - thank you.

I wonder if the bunnies don't have many predators so they can get by with smaller ears?

Here's to you, too:

Just returned to the resort after a day at Blizzard Beach to find scaffolding had gone up on the rooms above cubs den. Lots if loud workers as we walked by and as we sit in our room in the wing right next we hear noise from construction. I took a pic but cannot figure out how to upload from my phone. :). I think if I were in one of those rooms and came home for naps if not be too happy.

Eta- oh my the beeping from construction vehicles in reverse. Glad it's not a nap day for us!!

UGH. That's not good at all.

I might be wrong about this, but I know one of the numbers here that people often think is the front desk at WL is actually a call center. I have called that number, and the CM's often don't have accurate information since they are not actually at the front desk.

Kook would know more...again, I'm not sure but I think that's what I've heard.
I still only know of the"after Labor Day start" for the pool rehab. But, that doesn't mean that some other unrelated work may be going on. All resorts have some work going on somewhere pretty much all the time. Not all work is made public or lasts very long or is even obvious to guests. But, the scaffolding is very obvious.

I am trying to book our Christmas trip. Poly out due to construction. GF is too expensive so right now leaning towards Beach Club or WL. Can someone tell me if the pool will be open the week of Christmas? I know swimming in December can be a bit chilly but my girls still enjoy it!

We have spent our last two holidays at the lodge and absolutely love the cozy feel!
I have no information suggesting that the pool rehab will continue on into Christmas Week. As of now, it's supposed to be completed right before Thanksgiving. But with just about everything, other than death and taxes, there's no guarantee.

Hi there. NEVER stayed at a WL resort before, always YC!! For Spring Break am thinking of the villas....Rumor has it they have been updated. True? If so any link on pictures? thanks!
Hope you found the VWL photos/update that dansdad directed you to. The villa rehab was completed in March and the photos are linked to in POST 2. Welcome to the thread!

Thank you for posting this. Looks like they're doing a lot of work at once. It looks like you took the photo from the covered walkway between WL and VWL and the green roof is the Cub's Den.

The CM we spoke with last weekend said that the rooms with the scaffolding will be taken out of inventory while the repairs are done on the exterior.
This makes sense - thank you.

Wow, that doesn't look like it will be done by our vacation in January. Yikes.
WL wouldn't take that many rooms out of inventory for 6 months. I suspect those rooms will be available soon. They seem to be working on many rooms at once so they can get them all done more quickly and open them back up for guests. I suppose it's possible that whatever they're doing to that part of the resort could be done to other rooms as well, but I'm sure they'll move as quickly as possible.

Missed multi-quoting the post about yogurt. They do have yogurt at The Mercantile and there appeared to be Oikos at RF last Christmas:

Sorry....lots of questions about the villas.

Has anyone ever stayed in a 2 bedroom villa here? May be booking one for next July for 4 adults and 4 kids. Do you book a specific view if you book a villa? The 2 bedroom villas are typically included in the summer room only offers aren't they? Sorry for all of the questions and thank you!

I'm not going to let this mayhem stop us from having a great time! It's my first time Deluxe & this was my first choice since I've heard lots of great things about WL! It's a good thing that they want to refurb & make things great for all of us travelers but as long as it doesn't impact me!

My concern is that they must of had this planned all along so how do they accommodate all of us! I'm in a Woods View so where will I be placed? What are the chances they will upgrade us? I'm also with another family! I've made my requests when I booked so have to hope for the best I guess! How many rooms are in that wing they have closed off? Is it exterior work or room refurbs? I'm 8 days away so don't want to stress out! DH saw scaffolding pic & mouth dropped! Pixie dust come my way!

It's funny, we didn't even ask about construction. We had just mentioned about the piece of the lodge had fallen off and saw some pieces of clothing on one of the lower roofs. The CM mentioned that they were going to start fixing up the exterior of the buildings and that those rooms were starting to be taken out of inventory. Didn't mention about the scaffolding but when I saw the post I figured this is what the CM was taking about.
