I just checked with another source (because the IPO for Wilderness Lodge is actually the same IPO as the Polynesian, located at the Polynesian resort) and they said the feature pool at the Wilderness Lodge will go down for refurbishment in early September through late November. The leisure pool, Fort Wilderness pool and Contemporary pool will be alternatives available to WL guests.

The permits I saw for the Hidden Springs pool (near the villas) was for the refurbishment done a few months ago.

Man you are awesome! You helped me so much with your Poly updates for my May trip. Now I am going to WL in September, and here you are helping again!!:worship:

BTW, in my signature is my Trip Report for my May visit to Poly. Feel free to use any of those pics of Poly in the report if it is helpful to your website!

Thank you for all your help. The use of the pools at Ft Wilderness and Contemporary would be awesome.

My TA says she was told by her agency that ther feature pool is going down from Labor Day to Thanksgiving, which is consistent with what Tikiman said.
I have my quotes from GF & CR in hand and our deadline for deciding whether to switch. Sigh. I really just want to stay at WL, constructionless!

I know what you mean. I was so looking forward to staying at WL but I ended up jumping ship too. Good luck with your decision.

Ugh...I'm scheduled for Dec. 1-7. Maybe it will be finished. I'm renting points, and can't jump ship.

Truthfully, for me, isn't even the ability to use the pool or not. It's more about how I would like to experience the beauty of the WL. If the exterior is under construction, it will be pretty disappointing. Oh well...it's not something I can control, so I need to not obsess about it.

Does anyone know/think if the pool closure will effect any Halloween activities they'll have at WL on Halloween night? The only other available deluxe resorts during our week are SSR and AKL...does anybody know if there will be any Halloween activities at those resorts?

So the only other resorts available for our week now are SSR and AKL...not sure that I want to stay at AKL again. Any thoughts about SSR? Do you think that either resort will have activities in Halloween night?

Sorry for the double post...the app on my phone said the first one didn't post.

I feel the same - checking CR.

Just got done chatting with a CM online through the WDW site. She confirmed the pool closure for me from Labor Day to Thanksgiving. Looks like it's official. :(

What annoys me more than anything is that they waited this long...if I didn't have air booked I would move the dates...now i have to call and ask about change fees

"There is refurbishment work taking place around the main pool at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. As a result, we expect that the Silver Creek Springs pool will be closed September 3rd-November 27th."

Ugh it's like they could build an entire new pool in that time frame. So conflicting I thought it was just a kids splash area ... It's so confusing?

I just called and spoke to a very sweet and knowledgable CM. She confirmed that the Silver Springs Pool will be closed from 9/3/14-11-27-14. Now I don't know what to do, change resorts or stay. Hubby says no big deal. But I feel otherwise.

I know! I did get quotes on two other resorts. Don't know if I'm going to switch or wait this out & hope for a delay on construction to begin.

I am officially gutted. We have been planning and saving for this trip as a surprise 5th birthday since the stick was positive. So much planning, saving, and research has gone into this. I know WDWKook said there was so much more, but the pool was a big part of our plans and our activity. We chose WL because of the location, the stories, the views, and the pool. We have paid a great deal of money for a room with a view...of construction. I know it is a first world problem and in the grand scheme of life, there are far bigger issues, but for now, after 5 plus years of planning and saving, I am going to take a moment to be gutted, then sort things out from there. Thank you for listening.

You take as long as you need to be gutted! This sucks for everyone that is affected! :flower3:
