Thanks for the reply, psac! I appreciate you taking the time to help me. And yes, I will grumble a bit about the lack of exits to the BW, but it is a small annoyance. These answers have helped me decide what I'd like for my room requests to be. I think I'll ask for a room close to the lobby on the 2nd floor.

I look forward to being a part of your little community and being able to answer some questions of my own after our BWI vacation.

We always exit from the stairs or elevator near the Belle Vue Lounge (same level as lobby) which leads to multiple doors on the ground level next to Flying Fish. Give it a try. We have never exited via the lobby.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Ah, yes! I know exactly where you are talking about. I visited the BWI in April while looking for that scary flower child chair, and I remember the exit you are talking about. Thanks!

Always happy to help! :)

Those creepy chairs actually have names on the back of them! One is Todd, the other is Paul. Since the latter is actually my name, it almost makes it even more creepy, in a weird way.

I never knew that about the chairs.

Actually there are no exits from the BWI to the actual boardwalk except by the lobby. There are stairs to other exits, but those are all internal to the area by the quiet pool and places like that. You still need to go by the lobby area to get to the Boardwalk.

Having said that, it's still more of an annoyance than adding too much time to the walk. :thumbsup2. Of course every time you walk it, you will keep saying "they should have had other exits..."

I concur. more of an annoyance. The part I griped about daily was the length of the hallways. We were the next to alst room away from them

I swear that the hallways were designed for Kenyan marathon runners. The upside to our location was we were able to use the stairs which took us out right in between the 2 pools and close to the DHS path.

We were at BWV last year for the F&W Festival and it was terrific.

Checking out tomorrow, but moving over to WL for the next 3 nights.

I love this resort and the ability to easily access two parks and not have to spend an hour getting there, or back.

Next few days will be meeting up with family and going to MK, so WL makes more sense.

I had a great room this trip and look forward to my next Boardwalk stay.

We loved the efficiency of being nestled between 2 parks. In addition to that, the feeling\ambiance of the Boardwalk is really cool.

Have fun at VWL!

I can't multi-quote now:flower3:, but I wanted to get this good news posted. The Disney Armed Forces Salute (ticket and room-only discount) has just been renewed for 2015. The discount percentage remains the same. Details located HERE.

Are you talking about the chairs in the lobby? They have names?

Thanks for posting the picture. I am looking for a picture of both chairs. Now that I know they have names.

When we were young we always went to Atlantic City to visit my cousin Paul Our visit always included a trip to Margate to see Lucy the Ellephant.

Later in life, my cousin had a son And named him Tod. I didn't know that the chairs had names this is such a coincidence.

I can't wait to go back and see the chairs and Lucy on the top of the mantel.

So glad to hear that you had a magical time at the BW! It is definitely my favorite resort!

Enjoy the rest of your stay at WL. It's been years since I've been there. I look forward to hearing about it.

I googled 'Disney Boardwalk Inn Creepy Chairs' and a few photos came up. They are on opposite sides of the fireplace, so you're not going to get a close up shot with both chairs in it.

The chairs are movable, I was able to take this picture of the back.

And I think this one is Todd. :)

Don't you want to sit in his lap?? :lmao: :rotfl2:

I know this isn't the DVC thread, but since there are a lot of DVC folks here, I just saw today on the member site they put in a new availability tool. You put in the dates, the size of room, then you can multi-select from all DVC locations. So you can use it to see a studio and pick BWV (of course), BLT, AKL-J and K, BCV, and VWL, and it'll tell you which of them have availability and which views. Very cool.

For those non-DVC, before you had to pick the specific view and then it would tell you if it was available or not and then give one alternative. So even to see all three BWV views you had to check three times. Now you can just select BWV and it'll tell you all three!

Sorry for not putting all this is one post. So the names aren't originals, but it's still a good coincidence. :)

From Jim Korkis:

Nanny Chairs

Placed on either side of the fireplace are the scary "nanny chairs" that were originally found on 19th century European carrousels. They were intended for adults to rest upon while their children rode the moving animals. From this concept developed the more traditional "chariot" benches. It would have been inappropriate for female nannies to even ride side saddle on a carousel horse. These reproductions were cast from circa 1889 originals, hand painted and highlighted with gold leaf. In a moment of cleverness, the two Imagineers involved in the reproductions printed their names on the back of each chair: Todd and Paul.

Before asking another questions... I have to say - those chairs are going to give me nightmares! :D

Anyways - I figured people here would have the best answers. This fall we are staying in mid November. My daughter is now 7, and this will be our first trip where I'm not planning on using or renting any strollers. We've never stayed at the boardwalk before. I stayed at the BC years and years ago and I know the walk to Epcot isnt bad. Exactly how far is the walk to HS for little legs? I've never done this walk before. We usually rent our own car, but we've always stayed Value or offsite before so it made sense then. Now since we're so close to so many parks, I figured renting a car probably isnt necessary and we should just utilize the Magic Express. I also dont want to completely wipe out my little one either. I know I read that there are ferries available - what would people's recommendations be? We'll be doing a ton of walking anyway - so a walk isnt the problem, I'm just thinking late night walking back etc. I should have mentioned too that I'd like to avoid buses as much as possible too (just personal preference, of all things they cause me motion sickness). Thanks :) :beach:
