Hellooo fellow Boardwalk lovers! :) Maybe some of you remember me from many weeks back asking questions about setting up an engagement for my brother in one of the Boardwalk Inn Cottages. Well everything came together perfectly! I thought I'd post some of the pics of the Cottage all decorated up. I'll have much better pics when we get the professional ones back, but until then...

We had 3 of these larger arrangements placed around the room with lots and lots of candles..sooo pretty!!

The chef from The Flying Fish was amazing!! He agreed to do the menu items from the restaurant, and then we arranged to have it served in the cottage. He even came to visit them in the middle of the meal!

The Bride-to Be had NO idea we were there at all until after the actual engagement. She was so excited that we all ended up celebrating at Jelly Rolls until 2am! The next night we surprised the couple with an Illuminations Dessert Party..followed by another night of more celebrating at Jelly Rolls! Needless to say, I am exhausted! :rotfl2: But it was worth every minute of it!
Now I just need to find a reason to do all this all over again!;)

Seriously, you are the best sister ever! They are a lucky couple to have you in their lives!

Brier Rose... Thanks for sharing the pictures of the engagement room. The cakes look delish and the flowers so beautiful.

Congratulations on a job well done! She must have been amazed by the whole set up.

Brier RoseWOW!Congrats to your brother and soon to be sister....the wedding will struggle to top the engagement

Thanks so much, to all of you!! You're all so sweet! :goodvibes

We just had the best time ever, and the awesome people we worked with truly made it easy!

I was just so happy to be able to help my brother. He's been sooo very busy with finishing up college this semester, and all the 1000 things he had to do. He would come up with ideas, and I'd just get them worked out for him..team effort! haha But he really is my "baby" brother..15 years difference between us, and I'm just so proud of him, and the man he's become. He is not just a great brother, but a wonderful person.

Plus..I can't tell y'all how excited I am to be getting a new sister that loves Disney as much as we do!

.....and YES the cakes were omg AmAzInG!! The one I got to taste was chocolate cake with Bailey's filling and Buttercream frosting..wow..I wish I had some right now!::yes::

Getting excited, leave at 7:00 am saturday. The BWI does have refrigerators in the rooms, right? I wanted to pick up some bottled water to keep in our room

Havent stayed at BWI yet, we are booked for Sept but all WDW resorts now have fridges but the deluxes always had them! Have a great time!

Brier Rose I'm loving those pics!!!!

I'm jealous of everyone going shortly. I have 78 days to go & that might as well be 378 or 578...seems like forever & a day!

If anyone has any tips to beat the heat please share. We've never gone in August & I HATE heat & humidity. We won't be in parks during the daytime, and will dress light & drink lots of water- any other good tips?

I also have 78 days left!!!
It's hotter than heck!!!!!!!!! Go to the parks early, nap or pool later, lot's of tank tops, etc, you will survive LOL. I love the mornings in August, it's so wonderfully warm. Evenings are a bit stuffy, but I don't care, I'd rather be there. For sure though you still need a sweatshirt for dinner, because they crank the A/C!

I keep a damp towel around my neck when it's hot outside. It really helps keep you cool, and when it dries out, you can just rewet it in a bathroom or water fountain. If you really want to get fancy, there's a product called the Chilly Pad that is made of fabric that keeps the water longer, so the cloth lasts for hours before it dries.

Maybe it's the BW connection, but on Friday my DD's tennis team made it to the State Tournament, too. (We didn't rearrange our WDW vacation, because that is scheduled for August, but I wanted to brag, too.)
I LOVE it (get it?) and congratulations to DD!

108 days until I am there:banana::banana::banana:

So true about topping the engagement - when do we help start planning the Disney wedding, Brier Rose?:hyper:

What a wonderful family you have and SIL-to be:thumbsup2

You better be all packed today!!

I have to ask why you won't be in the parks during the day - not even to eat? In that case, the parks at night are wonderful in August. Are you just doing PM EMH? Without the sun out it's fabulous and usually seems to rain less. The daytime is very humid with bouts of rain. But, when it rains, the lines are much shorter and it cools off.

I keep a damp towel around my neck when it's hot outside. It really helps keep you cool, and when it dries out, you can just rewet it in a bathroom or water fountain. Welcome and that's great advice.

There are refrigerators at BWI and the one we had worked really well. I had some yogurt on the top shelf and the froze (which was fine with me). So, you might need to fiddle with where you put your water. If you want it to freeze, take a little out so they don't explode and put them on the top shelf.

We've gone in August the last few years and it is hot, but completely manageable as long as you don't push yourself too much. I can't remember if you planned any waterpark days, but those are so much fun in August. Also, at the parks there are lots of indoor attractions where you can catch A/C. As someone else noted, though, the A/C can be quite cold so if you're like me, take along a sweater. Finally, there are often CMs out and about spraying kids with water mist. If you don't mind that, make yourself a target for the mist -- it's quite refreshing.

I LOVE it (get it?) and congratulations to DD!

:yay:

Thanks Kook! I totally get the love!!! The girls fun T-shirts say "Keep Calm and Smash On" so that's what we're doing until next Friday when the state tournament starts.

How far is the walk to Boardwalk Bakery and would it be on the way to Epcot?

When you walk down the stairs from the lobby, you make a right at Flying Fish. You pass Seashore Sweets', Kouzzina and the pizza Window before hitting the bakery. And yes, it is on the other way to EPCOT.

Thanks everyone for the tips to beat the heat!

elgerberger - we're there at the same time?!?! How cool!

WDWKook we won't hit the parks during the day just because of the heat. The kids are teens - they'll sleep til 1pm if I let them (I will hit parks in the am alone while they sleep if I want)...then we'll hit the pool til dinner, then go to whichever park is open the latest.

We'll go to a waterpark once or twice, at opening, til it gets too hot/too crowded.

Tonight, my DBF & I were looking at the various Disney Deluxe Resorts. Boardwalk was the last I showed him, not for any reason, just happened that way. And, we loved everything about it!! Except one thing, which was a major turn off. Is that big, crazy looking clown thing really there at the pool? Hoping it is old & removed lol.

Sorry if that is such a stupid question.

The Keister Coaster! It's still there but it's really not as bad in person! That area has some nice views and if the clown really bothers you the resort has 2 other pools!

I agree about the clown...it was the one reason I resisted booking BWI for so many years. When we finally decided to stay at BWI for the first time one year ago, DS12 and i were amazed at how absolutely non-creepy it is in person. This is our number 1 resort now, and we have stayed here 3 times during this past year ... And our next stay is coming up in 2 weeks! Don't let the clown keep you from experiencing an amazing resort. Good luck with your decision!
