You walk through the entrance of the Magic Kingdom, dodging the crowds and not wanting to look up at the castle until you know you can see it all in one go.

You look up and gasp, "look kids, there it is" a lump appears in the throat and your eyes fill as they gasp in utter astonishment, that they are there.

Welcome to Walt Disney World.

Close your eyes tight and really concentrate, imagine you are walking up Main Street can you smell the sweet sugary smell?

MMM... I hear screams of delight, old people laughing, kids yelling, I smell popcorn and candy, I hear music from the shops I feel that funny sandy feel of the pavement beneath my feet, whoops I fell over  I'll open my eyes again, Oh No back at my desk!

Our first day there with the girls in April 2002, we were in front of the castle for the parade and when the Cinderella float came round ready to start they called our girls and a few others into the crowd. They held their hands and walked them up to the float to wave at Cinders.

She obvioulsy waved back, they were loving it. I can hardly type this, and I cannot watc the video at allw ithout filling up.

One of those moments in your life eh?

Steve

Oh how true, Steve, I remember our first visit, we had no real idea what happened at the opening, when the charcters and the mayor did the countdown and all the streamers and confetti went off I couldn't speak because there was this massive lump in my throat. It made me so determined that each time I go the first day HAS to be MK for the opening, such a magical moment. Also when my son first met Mickey he couldn't speak, after all this is the most famous film star in the world ever - he just stood there mouth open, I was so moved, soppy huh?

Not soppy at all.

We had some friends come round last Sat night, they got back on the Thursday, and Andy the guy said that until they had been they were not able to fully appreciate it no matter how much we built it up they said it was better.

I would go right now............, sod it!,............... I'm off

:rotfl2:

Oh, how I wish!!! Obviously we couldn't go at the moment with baby arriving next week but some days I just think to myself we could just book it and go and stick it all on the credit card (but then (unfortuately) sense?! sets in and I start thinking how long we'd be paying for it for!)

Just need a rich distant relative (who I don't know of) to die and leave us some money or perhaps I need to start doing the lottery.

Anyway you leave me sitting in position with a nice cold drink waiting for the parade to start with my camera at the ready (rather than getting ready to take DD for her flu jab!)

Baby arriving next week. Dear me some women will use that as an excuse for everything! :rolleyes1

A friend of My wifes Mom (hope you followed that) takes the whole family, about 12 of them every other year and spends the best part of the next 2 paying it off, nice but a bit mad.

It might be a bit touch and go as to whether we go next year, we have spent a fortune on the house this year and we might not be able to fully enjoy if we go next year.

We'll see.

"Whistle while you work"

I never saw any of it on our first visit. I was crying so hard I hid behind the park map until I had calmed down :rotfl: Still get a bit tearful every time I walk through the gates. I have a framed pic of DD & DS standing at top of main street with castle behind them on my desk at work. I just take myself there when the day gets stressfull .... Bliss.

WOW!! I am all cold and watery eyed reading this post.
Why is that place just so magical and amazing?

Walt Disney was a genious, wasn't he?!

I wish he was still here to see what he has created, and could see how happy he makes everyone.

Even for those of us that aren't going again soon, we can still read or post threads like this to re-live our memories.

Thanks for this post.
I am just off to have another go on Buzz light year!! :rotfl:

Thanks Steve for reminding me how great the place is!

I'm sitting in work, dull and overcast outside................. I wish I was at MK :flower:
