Close, please.

It's an interesting idea, but it sounds like a lot of work for the mods. They spend a lot of free time already here, and I'd hate to see them have even more work.

The only thing they would need to do is just move a thread over to those boards (such as a new newsletter, etc) and then that would be all. It basically makes it easier for the moderators and members to find important news all in one place instead of searching and digging through the boards. :)

Or better yet, leave THIS board for the main news & information, turn the kids board in to the "Community Board" and have the drivel go there.

The board would only be for important news. We could still post closings, staff events, and things like that over here.

I don't think I would want what aeryn suggested, lol. I think it might actually be worse...

We don't really post newsletters here or the last time I checked anyway, so the subforum would probably be a waste of time.

What if we had a reply-only subforum that was specifically for VMK news?

I just thought this might help a little bit with some of the issues that were brought up last night. What does everyone else think? :)

I think this topic should just be dropped. Enough already! Most people seem to be pleased with the way this board is run and the constant complaints from a couple of people threaten the survival of this board. Maybe you could make your own message board for VMK and then you can run it the way you want.

It would be a board that would work like this:

1. Someone creates a news thread in this main board
2. Moderators see that it is indeed newsworthy, so they move it over to the News board since regular members cannot create threads there.
3. We (regular members) can reply and discuss that topic in the thread.

So-- nobody except moderators or webmasters can create threads inside the sub-forum, but everybody can reply once a valid thread is moved over there.

Personally, this sounds like a lot of extra work for the moderators to keep up with. I can also see how this could cause even more problems and hurt feelings (why isn't my post newsworthy, why did her post get moved and not mine etc.). While I am not a moderator on these boards, I have been a moderator on the DIS for quite some time. One thing that I hope everyone can understand and appreciate is that you can't please everyone all of the time..... I agree with Doc, let it go....

I completely agree
