How often do the toilets clog? Can they be fixed quickly? Can the room person just leave a plunger in the room? We tend to have alot of clogged toilets at home. Sorry but it is a big consideration for us. lol

LOL

I can relate. My DH was concerned about that as well. Have no fear, they don't clog easily. We had no problems.

With the maxi turbo flush toilets that are on the ship, we were more concerned with losing one of the kids than the toilet clogging!

Thanks for the chuckle.......even though I will take the seriousness of this worry to heart. :)

( Just watch----now WE will be the ones with the plumbing problems) :)

Yes, the high-suction toilets eliminate any need to worry about an embarrassing clog. If one of your party is still concerned, the public facilities all over the ship are immaculate and inspected quite often. Use and enjoy, but please, advise a CM if your movement no longer moves - so to speak. I am sure they will take care of it without embarrassment to the non-moving movement's mover.

Our house is full of cloggers... and we have never had a problem on 2 cruises. I would love to have one of those toilets in my house. Watch the dog drink out of that!

We had taken our neighbor kid with us on a 3-day cruise and he had a "clog incident". He really had to go "number two". He was embarrased to ask me, but he told me what happened. I asked if he lowered the lid and then pushed the button. He flushed with the lid up and it didn't have enough power to go down. So, we lowered the lid, and down "it" went with no problems.

Remember, lower the lid, then push the button.

I cant remember having a clogging incindent at home, but on our July cruise, we did have a rather embarrassing incident. DH is going to kill me for posting this, LOL! We had just gotten into port at CC. DH & I finished breakfast and went back to our room to pack up for the day. Well, after our big buffett breakfast, DH used the bathroom...and it wouldnt flush at all! So we desperately searched for our stateroom host and of course this was the time he was no where to be found. Now Im horrified at the thought of leaving it like that, but I also wasnt going to sit in my room all day(we had parasailing booked for 11:00am). DH was embarrassed so he sprayed some cologne to kill any smell which made it 10x worse. On our way off the ship we stopped at Guest Services to take care of gratuities and we mentioned it to the CM. She said that sometimes they stop flushing in port, but they will take care of themselves(this was something I never read here;) ). So we went off on our day and when we returned to the ship later on we found our host and mentioned it to him. He said yes, the whole area went out(must be a fun day for him), but they were up and working again.
So, while it sounds as if its not a common thing, it can happen, but it seems like the stateroom hosts understand. Good luck!

I am laughing so hard - only because my oldest son was/is a "clogger". I kept telling my husband to build the kid an outhouse!! Thank God he is independent now and we don't have to worry about that any longer.

We did have a clogged sink last trip (the "thingy" that you pull didn't work to drain the water out) and the response was within 15 minutes!

I loved this thread!

Okay, I know my son will be scared to death to even try to flush the toilet, after reading all about their sonic flushes! I remember one post about, do not leave the lid up, and any small items sitting in there, or they will be gone!

But seriously, for those of you who may not know, I HAVE read several times about lack of water, and, lack of flushing, during the mornings at port.... Something to really know about beforehand!! And, to be prepared for.

Still laughing about the poster who went for the Surial Mudbath on a Port day, and then, for a while, there was NO water for rinsing!!

I am thinking that they are maintaining the systems at this time, or something like that??? (Anybody know anything more specific?) Anyway, I am definately going to remember this tidbit when we finally board the Wonder!

This is all tooooo funny!! And what makes this board great!

First of all I would like to congratulate you on the best thread that I have ever seen on these boards. As an aficionado of bathroom fixtures and plumbing, I would like to put my 2 scents in. You really have no worries when it comes to clogging on the DCL. The maxi turbo flush toilets are amazing. As was stated before, there is little danger of clogging and in fact the real danger is in the possible (down the drain) loss of small animals, children , articles of clothing , false teeth etc. A word to the wise is "when flushing, stand back and hold on. The key to non clogging on the DCL and everywhere else is to keep the paperwork to a minimum. So don't worry about clogging and eat to your hearts content. By the way, a recent survey gave the best bathroom in WDW rating to the bathroom in the Beach Club just off the lobby near the gift shop. While this bathroom is truly breathtaking, its flushability doesn't hold a candle to the bathrooms on the DCL.

My 3 yr old dd clogged the toilet in the club. She put in too much toilet. I have no idea how much she used!

Too Funny! We worry about this too (thanks to one of my lovely daughters). Been on 3 cruises and never a problem.

NOW on our way back home, we stopped near Plains, GA. We wanted to attend Jimmy Carter's Sunday school class.

Well, the toilet clogged, so I called room service. The woman at the front dest said she could bring us a plunger. About 1/2 later she came with a plunger in a bag and handed it to us. DH went in the bathroom and 'fixed' the problem.

All we could say was that 'service' at the Holiday Inn Express sure isn't like the Disney Cruise! After 7 days of being spoiled we had to laugh at being 'handed' a used plunger to fix the problem ourselves!

I don't think you will have any problems on the cruise. Just put down the lid before flushing.
