I missed that one. Sorry. That wasn't cool.

I heard that he had chest pains last night and didn't go in until this morning. That could have been a fatal delay. Its important that anyone experiencing chest pain respond to it immediately. I hope all goes well.

Oh my, I only heard that he felt chest pains and went to the hospital...I didn't hear about the delay! Well, thankfully it was still in time.::yes::

I didn't realize I needed to give a summarization of past occurrences when people have also said snide remarks about other Presidents

I'm well aware negative things were said about President Reagan. I thought that was uncalled for then and the same goes for comments about President Clinton.

I'm glad you thought that was uncalled for. It was horrible. We are in agreement then as I think the one comment mentioned above about his slowing down was uncalled for too. It happens on both sides all the time, unfortunately. There is not one thread here that is even remotely about politics which stays civil, unfortunately. :(

Hoping all goes well for former President Clinton.

Goodness! How frightening for him and his family. My prayers are with them all.

From ABCNews:

In a statement from Clinton's office, spokeswoman Tammy Sun said Clinton is being admitted today to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for bypass surgery.

"The former president went to Northern Westchester Hospital [Thursday] afternoon after experiencing mild chest pain and shortness of breath," the statement said. "Initial testing was normal and he spent the night at home in nearby Chappaqua, N.Y. After undergoing additional testing this morning at Westchester Medical Center, doctors advised he should undergo bypass surgery."

Clinton, 58, is planning to undergo the operation at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan on Saturday, a source close to Clinton told ABC News.

During the coverage of former President Reagan's funeral, I mentioned in one of the threads that I thought President Clinton didn't look at all well to me. I'm so sorry to hear about this major surgery for him and for his family.

My mom had open heart surgery in 2001 (shortly after 9/11; I'm sure there was a connection, although the doctor said no.) She didn't need by-pass, but a valve replacement. Her cardiologist said to me, "Oh, don't be overly concerned. It's just like changing a tire." Somehow, I didn't appreciate that. I know that doctors consider this to be routine at this point, but I think the family needs a little more consideration.

My prayers are with President Clinton and his family.

They just showed Senator Clinton and she said he felt pains and shortness of breath last night and went to the hospital last night and they sent him home. They then asked him to come back in this morning for more test and now he's been admitted.

Just thought I'd give an update.

I agree. I hope that that ancient history isn't dragged out again.

Get well quick Mr. Clinton.

Guys - I don't think that the McDonalds comment was off base. :confused3 President Clinton has on many occassions jokingly commented on his weakness for McDonald's French Fries (my weakness too). :p

Get well Bill! :sunny:

Oh, I dunno...Seems that some people don't have a problem wishing him ill will:

Audience boos as Bush offers best wishes for Clinton's recovery
Friday September 03, 2004

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) President Bush on Friday wished Bill Clinton ``best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery.''

``He's is in our thoughts and prayers,'' Bush said at a campaign rally.

Bush's audience of thousands in West Allis, Wis., booed. Bush did nothing to stop them.

Bush offered his wishes while campaigning one day after accepting the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in New York. Clinton was hospitalized in New York after complaining of mild chest pain and shortness of breath.

Bush recently praised Clinton when the former president went to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. He lauded Clinton for his knowledge, compassion and ``the forward-looking spirit that Americans like in a president.''

Reading the negative response to your post I was almost guilted into refraining from any jokes. While I'm sure we don't agree on a lot of things thanks for bringing a little levity to the DIS. It is appreciated by some (or at least one). BTW, can you imagine the parade of Candystripers into that hospital room?

Under normal circumstances, yes. But I'm not that hard up to schedule bypass surgery. Now that doesn't mean I wouldn't wish for a kidney stone.
