Clint Black was performing a "Freedom Fest" concert at the Army base where my father and brother are both soldiers.

My brother, who is an MP in the K-9 unit and was assigned to work with his dog outside of the tour bus, said that Clint Black was a complete jerk. He refused to do the meet and greet with the soldiers, as was contracted. He would not shake the post General's hand. He refused to sign autographs. He refused a helicopter tour of the base. He just had a really terrible attitude. The band was really nice and friendly, though.

Evidently, he wasn't nice or quiet about this either. My brother said Clint Black was ranting and raving and throwing such a tantrum that he was only there to sing and get out, that he was agitating the K-9 officer so bad that my brother had to take his dog into the woods to let off some steam.

Yes, he has the right to refuse autographs, hand shaking, etc. We live in a free country, but don't be a turd about it, especially around the men and women that are keeping you free.

At the concert Clint Black never once said anything about the 4th of July, God Bless America, You're Our Heroes. Nothing to that extent to the soldiers. He was making really stupid inside jokes to his band members. Obviously the word of his tantrum had already spread because a large majority of the audience refused to stand up, participate, show CB any love! The show was very awkward, no energy, most of us couldn't wait for him to get off the stage so the fireworks could start! And by the way, I didn't know any of his off stage behavior until today, so that didn't taint my perception of his performance.

He was a complete jerk on the Apprentice... I'm not surprised. :guilty:

Before I read your post, I would have said, "a little bit of both". Now I would say a "whole lot of both". What a moron!

Gotta say, never been a Clint Black fan. Just something about him that has always turned me off. Guess I know now that it's because he's a "turd".

I've heard, don't know it for a first hand fact, that Toby Keith gives a good show for the soldiers.

From me, tell your father and your brother :worship: THANKS!!

That goes for all our soldiers too!!

:thumbsup2 ITA! I kind of liked him way back when but not after watching The Apprentice.

Ditto. I lost a whole lot of respect for him after seeing his true colors on The Apprentice.

OP - sorry that he disappointed the people who are serving to protect him.

I am very sorry to hear all that... I thought his behavior on Apprentice was terrible and showed not only his being stubborn and close-minded, but also a disrespect for women in general. His humor was sexist and his attitude toward women seemed to be from another generation.

I really admire performers who are humble and grateful for their God given talents and respect the fans who support them. I can't imagine going to any branch of the armed forces and treating our service men and women as you have described. He should have declined the invitation if he couldn't dig a little deeper and treat them in a manner befitting our service man and women.

He ought to be ashamed!

What an *&%. I would like to add my families and mine heartfelt thanks to all your Dad and Brother do for us (and your family too - you sacrifice alot to let them keep us free) I lost friends in 911 so the Military is in our thoughts and prayers always.

Clint said it was the way The Celebrity Apprentice was edited that made him look bad. Obviously NOT. Too bad for the troops. Clint should have gotten down on his hands & knees :worship: thanking the troops for continuing to secure the very freedoms he takes for granted in allowing him to run around being the diva he is. :sad2:

I used to like him because he was good looking and his marraige seems to be rock solid. I only watched a bit of The Apprentice because I got bored.
His behavior while performing for the troops is sickening. I'm actually mad. I have never heard of anyone being disrespectful while performing for the troops. Even people I don't care for, like Kid Rock, I respect a lot because he has been so involved with the USO.
And this may be a bit off topic, but it's kinda relevent. Marilyn Monroe performed for the troops in Korea and it was freezing cold. Maybe even literally freezing. She performed in a strappy dress because she knew that the troops wouldn't want to see her perform in a coat. And I believe she did all she could to meet with the troops and sign autographs.
Clint Black has no class. He should be HONORED to have been asked to perform. I hope someone lets him in on what a jerk he was.

Ft. Polk????

For the post that I live on, Tim McGraw came. He did meet and greets with the audience, walked up and down the rows of fans, and took time to give praise to all the youngins in basic training that were able to come and see the concert. The Eli Young Band opened for him and they were just as gracious. Tim actually got all teary eyed on stage. It was amazing. He sang "If you're reading this" and said before he began, "I hope I can remember all the words to this, but you guys are my heroes, so this one's for you." Hearing 12,000 people belt out that song and being so close to see Tim McGraw cry is one of the most amazing things I've ever been able to witness in my life.

surfergirl, how did you know it was Fort Polk?

Ok, just saw that you answered my question and we posted at the same time!!

Jesse James, (Sandra Bullock's hubby,) who also did the same Celebrity Aprentice with Clint Black also went over to the support the troops a couple years ago. He took his monster truck team over with him. They chopped up some of the military Humvees and rebuilt them with the troops into monster Humvees and left them, so the troops could play around with them during their time off. He said going over to support the troops was one of the most important things he's done. :thumbsup2

Op your story reminded me so much of the time i saw Larry Gatlin in concert. he was such an idiot! i think he was just drunk. he was rude and obnoxious to the audience too. i will never go see him again. thats too bad about clint black, i always liked him and his wife Lisa Hartman, she was the best thing on knots landing when she was Ciji! Clint should have shown more respect at that show, thats just disappointing.
