Clint Black was performing a "Freedom Fest" concert at the Army base where my father and brother are both soldiers.
My brother, who is an MP in the K-9 unit and was assigned to work with his dog outside of the tour bus, said that Clint Black was a complete jerk. He refused to do the meet and greet with the soldiers, as was contracted. He would not shake the post General's hand. He refused to sign autographs. He refused a helicopter tour of the base. He just had a really terrible attitude. The band was really nice and friendly, though.
Evidently, he wasn't nice or quiet about this either. My brother said Clint Black was ranting and raving and throwing such a tantrum that he was only there to sing and get out, that he was agitating the K-9 officer so bad that my brother had to take his dog into the woods to let off some steam.
Yes, he has the right to refuse autographs, hand shaking, etc. We live in a free country, but don't be a turd about it, especially around the men and women that are keeping you free.
At the concert Clint Black never once said anything about the 4th of July, God Bless America, You're Our Heroes. Nothing to that extent to the soldiers. He was making really stupid inside jokes to his band members. Obviously the word of his tantrum had already spread because a large majority of the audience refused to stand up, participate, show CB any love! The show was very awkward, no energy, most of us couldn't wait for him to get off the stage so the fireworks could start! And by the way, I didn't know any of his off stage behavior until today, so that didn't taint my perception of his performance.
