We're headed to clearwater beach after the disney thing for three nights, has anybody stayed at shepards beach resort with kids? I've already booked it but I'm wondering if it's geared more for a twenty-something crowd. The rooms seem great because they have a seperate bedroom area as well as kitchen facilities, but now I'm second guesting my decision, we're going the beginning of May? Anybody have any feedback?

Where in CW beach is this? Is it on the beach side? We stayed at the Hilton Beach Resort last year, it was very family oriented. There were a lot of spring breakers in the area as well. Hope they didn't get too much hurricane damage there. We really enjoyed it and plan to visit again in April.

It's a couple buildings down from Adam Mark's Resort it's on the water and just walking distance to clearwater beach (less than 5 minutes) I picked this resort because it has suites for a reasonible price. So you found April to be a good month for the beach too? (I was there in March before and the water was too cold to swim)

Hi there, we may have to change our plans.

Were going to do a day trip to Daytona but might have to change to the gulf side.

How long of a drive from WDW to Clearwater? In your opinion is it worth a day trip-we'd be going there in the a.m. and returning to WDW in the late afternoon.

We were planning on hitting a beach on the ocean side as well as one on the gulf side next week b/c my boys have never seen the ocean..... any idea if there are still any beaches still open or have they all been badly damaged??

Clearwater beach is roughly 106 miles from WDW under 2 hour drive. Although I've never been to the East Coast to compare, Clearwater Beach is beautiful, well worth the trip it's nicer in my opinion than St.Pete's. I was just on the clearwater beach official web site and the seem to have had minimal damage from the hurrican and show pictures. Let me know how your trip went if you decide to go, I don't think you'll be disappointed.:sunny:

Thanks, I think I will check out both websites and will ask guest services at the resort when I get there what they recommend.

My in-laws live by the Skyway Bridge in St. Petes. We always walk the beach by the Don Cesar hotel. I'm not much for swimming in salt water, but love the beach, and so do the kids!
