Clearwater Beach - Help?

We go just a bit further to Madeira Beach and we stay at Madeira Vista(condos). You are litterally on the beach when you come down the elevator. You have picnic tables and bbq for your use on the main floor which is out in the open. If you check on youtube, you can see video od each unit and can pick it that way.

I second going to Maderia Beach. We rent a house we found on vrbo. that is right on beach and has it's own pool for the same price of a hotel. Sooo miss that baby powder sand.

The nicest hotel directly on Clearwater Beach is the Sand Pearl. Avoid the Hilton, because even though it's central location is hard to beat, it is run down.

The Hyatt is new and super nice, but right across the street from the beach.

Both the Marriott and Sheraton on Sand Key are good as well, but that is "technically" not Clearwater Beach and it's a bit away from the touristy area!

We just stayed at the Hilton - agree overpriced and not great. It was alright... you can read my review on TripAdvisor (just wrote it a few weeks ago - Amanda S.)

The Hyatt looked nice... we wanted to stay at the Sand Pearl but it was CRAZY expensive. The "Pier 60" area did not seem super kid-friendly on the weekends - I didn't really like the vibe of it. Next time we are going to try Sanibel or Captiva, somewhere quieter.

Two years ago we stayed at the Hilton. Its right on the beach!
The pool is also on the beach (which my son loved).
When we were there they were updating the rooms. We had a newly remodeled room and it was beautiful; very modern looking.

Definately walk the pier at sunset!
We did the Captain Nemo (sp?) pirate cruise. That was a lot of fun for the kids. Also did a jet boat dolphin tour which was fun.

Enjoy!

do you have any more info on the pirate cruise?

We did the sunset cruise. It was beautiful to be out on the water at that time of day, seeing the sunset and even getting to see dolphins.
They have games and adventures for the kids, music playing, drinks (I think those were free) and snacks to buy.
I dont know how old your kids are, but I would recommend it for kids 11 and under. My teens were a little old for the games, but they did enjoy going on the different levels of the pirate ship and watching the sunset and dolphins.
Have fun!
