Hi i owned a Sienna 2011 minivan

the flat tire signal showed up on the dashboard, i already went to gas station to add more air, but i am not sure how to reset the signal so that the light will be cleared.

I googled but cannot find the "set" button to reset . Any one has any suggestions?

I have a 2007 Sienna and I have the instructions on a post-it note on our fridge because we had the same problem. Per the dealer, for our model:

1) turn car on
2) press reset button until light goes off (about 2-3 seconds)
3)wait a few seconds
4) press reset button again until the light flashes 3x
5) once the light flashes 3x, it is reset

I was at the Michelin dealer and overheard them talking with a service runner from the BMW dealership that had sublet tire sensor repairs to them......they figure about half the times a sensor lights up, the tire pressure is fine, the sensor is bad. I think half our fleet cars at work have that sensor on, and putting in air in, even way beyond the recommended level won't turn them off.

Never thought about if there was a reset procedure.

My mom's Toyota Highlander 06 have this issue. was told by the mechanic the same thing. Googled around and found out you have to reset the indicator not once but twice... like a full reset... after that, it turned off.

I still haven't found the reset button on my Forrester, if there is one. (I don't think there is.)

That is exactly what it is (and the directions I gave). Took us a trip to the dealership just to find that out :-/

In my 2008 Sienna you could reset the tire pressure light but in the newer models, mine current is a 2012, once you reach 35 MPH the pressure light should go off. If the tires are still off it won't though.

I personally hate those tire pressure monitors and find them unneeded waste. :rolleyes1

For those of us who know what we are doing they certainly are. Unfortunately we are in the minority.

Unfortunately, given how unreliable the sensors are, they are going to end up being useless because folks aren't going to pay $125 per sensor when they go bad, and they will be like the check engine light, and be ignored.

I thought that cars tire pressure lights turned off on their own once you started driving (a certain distance or speed) after you've filled the tires. Mine Honda does and so did my Oldsmobile van before it.

After putting air in my tires over and over took it to the shop. Tires over inflated and sensor is bad. The reason I was putting air in is that I did have a slow leak. And it's freezing so I was using the gas station pressure gauge instead of my more reliable one.

This is how it is for my 2007 Grand Caravan. My light came on and I had air added when I got my oil changed. I was told after a few miles at a higher speed it would go out, but it did not go out.

I stopped in again to have a headlight bulb changed and asked about the tire light. The guy working said their gauge is a little off, so he added more air. Sure enought the light went out on my drive home.

You can blame Firestone for them being required in the USA.

There are two different ways that the sensors.

Direct uses a to directly measure the tire pressure.

Indirect uses wheel speed sensors to compare wheel speeds.

Solved I guess, but another issue is...

Check the spare tire. Just bought a Rav4 last year. Had a leak in the old Mazda so the light was always coming on. It went out when I put air in the leaking tire. Not so with the Rav4. Kept checking the tires. Kept searching the manual, nothing about a reset. Whoops, didn't even think about the spare tire hanging off the back door. Checked it and it was at 20 psi. Filled the spare and the light went off.

Dumb question ~ how does the car know the spare tire is low? Our spare isn't connected to anything, it just lays in the back under the trunk. :confused3

Sensor in the wheel with a radio frequency transmitter.

Not all vehicles have the system that will monitor the spare tire.

This is what a number of the sensors look like.

And a lot of cars don't even have a spare tire anymore.

Interesting. Thanks, I never knew that.

When it gets above zero (in a few weeks :lmao:) I'll have to dig our spare out and check.
