Clarion Universal?

Hi Everyone,

The wife and I want to stay for 3 nights at a hotel near Universal/Sea World before moving on to WDW. Has anyone stayed at the Clarion Universal and could tell me any information about it(like quality, restaurants nearby, transportation, etc.)?

We stayed there last year. The staff was nice enough but the rooms were in bad need of remodeling. The beds in our room must have been there before US & IOA were even an idea in someones head. The water never got hot enough for me in the shower. We tried the breakfast buffet one morning during our week stay...after that we went somewhere else to eat. We are staying in Kissimee this year. It's 10-12 miles out but for the money I have heard we'll get a better room there. The drive is also not that bad. Hope this helps. Just remembered the most important thing. I had booked this hotel about 4 months before our trip last year and had gotten a rate of 49.00 per night. When I got there the desk clerk tried to stiff me on 2 of my nights. She said that on Friday and Saturday the rates were 59.95. I pitched a fit and got my original rates. So if you do stay there...watch that this does not happen to you.

We've stayed at Sheraton World a couple week-ends now (by Sea World), booked thru HotelKingdom.com for $68 per nite. Very nicely maintained with lots of on & off site eateries. It's a short walk to Sea World (10 - 12 mins.)
The tower is a new section, and more costly.... the 2-story wings are the original, and what we got for that price. I think they were queen beds, but not sure. But, grounds are pretty & room is kept up to par.
We'll use them again.
