Clarion Inn LBV? good / bad?

It's been a couple of years since we stayed there, but we always had positive experiences with them.
MW and small fridge are nice to have and it's very close to the parks.
Never had anything bad happen in all the times we stayed there.
We just don't like the higher rates since they switched over to the Clarion name.

We love ths place. Stayed there last feb n again nxt mnth. They always have some sort of discount goin. I saw on travezoo rooms in the spring fling discount for $45/nite. They r very nice n the rooms r great. Great location as well. Right nxt to a shoppn area n dtd. Cant go wrong here :)

I'd second everything Auger said.

We've stayed there a few times, and had great experiences. Comfy beds, close to the park, clean. Last time we stayed was 2011. The only reason we didn't stay last time was the rate. We paid $39/night the first trip and $49/night the second. Now they want $65-$85 per night and I just can't justify paying that much to stay off property. When you add taxes and $15/day parking at the parks, it's cheaper / equivalent to stay at a value with a 15% discount code.

good point. Except I never get the 15% discount at VR. lol. how do you do that? :)

We love the clarion- we've stayed there since 2005 when it was a different brand. Close to food options, Disney, etc, and pretty cheap on bookit.com.

We have had positive experiences there as well. Our rooms have always been clean and one year our lock was broken, the maintenance crew was there quickly to resolve the problem (lock had to be changed). We have never eaten at the restaurant so I can't commment on that. But I would not have any qualms about staying there again especially when they have discounted rates.

We stayed there in November and I wasn't very impressed. It wasn't bad but the whole place seemed a bit shady to me. Our door was difficult to shut and lock and everything was pretty old. We did laundry while we were there and that was a total pain. There were very few machines (and far away from our room) and the dryer didn't work at all. We did two cycles and ended up getting on the plane with wet clothers. We only stayed one night so it wasn't bad but I would never want to stay there for a whole trip. We have stayed in a number of the hotels along the same road and this was by far the worst.

I have stayed there a few times and was always happy. It is not a 4 star hotel, expect a clean comfortable room with a clean bathroom and you will be happy.
We stayed there in July last year for our annual 4th of July trip and I was not thrilled at all. Young teen groups all over, screaming and running down the outside hallways all day and night. We called and complained EVERY night but nothing was done. One night they finally stopped at 5 am. Well they really didn't stop, they just got on their busses to go to the airport.
We stayed using a package that we booked directly from the hotel and had bfst included every day. Bfst was enough to fill us up but nothing special. I enjoyed the one morning that we drove down to Shoney's for their bfst buffet better which might not be saying much at all.
We never used the pools but they were clean and quiet, the teens were at the parks all day.
If you are looking for fancy this is not the place but if you want a clean place then book it. Just pray that there are no teen groups during your stay.

i know. :( wish there were another option close to dtd and all and less than $55 a night!

I booked POP using the 15% room only discount for early December...just through the website, not a PIN code. A few weeks prior to that, I called Disney to price All Star Music with the AAA discount. It was also 15% according to the cast member who handled my call.

We stayed our first night at the Baymont Inn and Suites - Celebration because it was free using points. It was nothing special, but about on par with the Clarion in my opinion. The room was slightly nicer and it included a free continental breakfast. It's just outside of Disney property on the Animal Kingdom side and the area is maybe a tad bit sketchier than the Clarion area. I think it's in the same price range as the Clarion and about as convenient if you have a car.

We just stayed there on 12/30 and my first impression was good, the water play area was nice, the lobby area was nice. But once we hit our room the only word to describe it was Ick! I hated that room, super tiny, dark and just felt dirty. My dh said it was fine but the room was very tiny. The bathroom was like a closet, have to step over the toliet to get in the shower. Thankfully we were there for only one night before moving on to POR but we wont stay there again.

On a positive note. Dd left a blanket in the room, I called and got connected with the corporate offices, they took down the information. I recieved an email from them but nothing more. I called directly to the hotel the next day. Got connected to the Lost and Found Manger. He took my info. Called back a few hours later and said they had no blankets turned in. The next day he called back and said he found a stack of blankets in the lost and found and wanted more of a description. Called back later to say it wasn't there. I was impressed at how much effort he took to find the blanket for us.

I'm not a big fan of the Clarion chain of hotels. I've had lots more negative experience than positive.

I'd check out Holiday Inn, LaQuinta, and Hampton first and then if I couldn't swing those I'd look at Clarion.

I don't know if it's just the price point or if it's a lack of leadership from the chain to the Franchisee's but I'd research carefully before staying at this line.

ok, will do this bookgirl. now to find which one of the hampton, hi or lalquinta is as close as clarion. that was the best part (how close clarion is to wow) i guess.

I will say that the actual Clarion's were better than the sleep/comfort/rodeway inn hotels in that chain but even the actual Clarion's I stayed at (travel basketball means lots of midrange hotel stays LOL) were iffy.

There is a thread in the Planning forum called Hotels and attractions in Orlando and that is the best place to ask about offsite accomedations. They have lots' of info. I'll go look for the link.

Here it is. Love this thread and they're really helpful.
