Clarion Hotel Universal opinions please....

We just got an AMAZING price for this hotel (especially compared to the rack rates currently offered) for May. Just wanted to know if anyone has stayed at this Clarion Hotel Universal and what you thought. Also, let me know about the shuttle service to Universal/IOA.

Don't know much about this hotel but as far as for the shuttles they offer is the same as rest of the hotels which are a couple of times they take you to the parks and one time they pick up at the parks and the shuttles fill up pretty quick and it depends on in which order they pick up due to they pick up from several hotels

I used hotwire.com so it was kind of a gamble which hotel we were getting. But, you can pick the star rating of the hotel and the location so we took a shot and got the Clarion Universal for $35 a night (Sat & Sun.) The rates on the website are $116 so we'll TAKE it!!!

you can get more reviews at tripadvisor I am sure.....just take everything with a grain of salt and be sure to let us all know what you think of the hotel when you get back

I was going to recommend Trip Advisor, too. But I was fascinated when I checked out a bunch of hotels there for a couple of upcoming business trips and regularly found one "Stay Away!!" review followed by a "Great Hotel!" review followed by a "Worst Ever!" review folowed by . . . Well you get the idea.

Makes you wonder.

We stayed there in April 2006. It was an ok place.

It was like a normal Clarion - basic - it was a room to sleep in and had great rates so we did fine for 3 nights.

We drove to Universal so I don't know how their shuttles were.

We stayed there for a week a few years ago, it is ok, for the price it is very good. Rooms were a good size and clean. The drawback with the pool is that it isn't south facing, and the sun is obscured after about 4pm each afternoon.

i just booked to stay in this hotel for 2 weeks in june for an amazing price. the onl downside is that i dnt think they offer shuttles to disney.

It's on Universal Blvd - just down from Wet n' Wild on the oppsoite side of the road.

Ok we're back from our stay here. It was ok. I mean for the price we paid we can't really complain. The room wasn't super clean, but the beds were clean and no bedbugs.

I think if you have older kids or teens it's nice because they have not only the pool and hot tubs, but also a tennis court and basketball court, which is nice.
Also the store/deli is nice and is open until midnight.

Would I stay here (for just my DH and I) again knowingly - nope!
Would I take a risk on hotwire again knowing that I could end up here again - sure

We just got home last night from spending a week at the Clarion, room 737. We thought it was great!

Sure, there's yellow paint, but the rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and the amenities were great. Free wireless internet in the lobby (sometimes you can also receive it up in your room!) and free wired ethernet internet in the rooms. (Only room for one laptop to be connected, so when DH was ethernet-connected, I tried to grab the wireless from the lobby and it worked late at night! We were on 7th floor) Restaurant with free kid's breakfast buffet (9 and under), cafe/convenience items, pool, tennis, b-ball...we loved it! We got a week's pass at US, but we didn't use their shuttle at all because we wanted to come & go as we wanted. It's like 2 minutes from US, and within walking distance of W&W. Also, International Drive is right around the corner with every type of restaurant/snack/buffet/dessert/convenience/gift shop you can imagine!

We had a fridge and microwave in our room which made for great storage and eatage of leftovers. We had a great, great stay at the Clarion!

We are staying at the Clarion next week. Sun-Fri. Was a great deal, with the location. IM just hoping the busses to Univesal are not that bad, and on a good schedule.

Definitely let us know how it went! Have a GREAT TIME! The busses were on a ok schedule, but we just wanted to take our rental car to be able to leave and get there whenever we wanted.

For instance, we would sleep a little later than normal, and I think the last bus left at 11:05 a.m. We weren't usually ready to go until about noon, so it didn't work for us. But if you make it work I'm sure it'd be fine.
