I think someone posted that at BWV the courtyard between BWI and BWV by Wyland Gallery are garden view.

If so what rooms are considered garden view and where do they start and boardwalk view begin?

The boardwalk view rooms are the villas that directly face the boardwalk. The courtyard view rooms face the courtyard with the boardwalk to the left. These rooms have a very nice boardwalk view but they do not directly face the boardwalk.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

We will be there in April with a BW view studio. So if we are facing the BWI we are not in a BWview villa. Correct

Merry Christmas everyone!!

I had a BW View studio a few years ago and I faced the BWI. I was actually above the art gallery and overlooked the "Epcot" end of the Boardwalk.

Happy Holidays!

Ms WDW, earlier this year they made a new category at BWV which are standard, preferred pool/garden and preferred BWview. They didn't have this when you went a few yrs ago. If I"M right that view you had will now be garden view. (I THINK)

I was under the impression that the "BoardWalk Green" view rooms were included in the Preferred-BoardWalk category. I'd call MS or the BoardWalk to confirm, though.

I remember looking at the ones directly above the Gallery (2nd floor), the facade of the building covers most of the balcony. The upper floors wouldn't be bad.

We were at BWV from 12-14 thru 12-19 and were in a studio right above the walkway next to Wyland Gallery. It was room 2059 and our confirmation stated that we had Preferred View- Garden/Pool view. We had a view of the Garden from our "deck" so that was correct.

Yes I know about the new classifications. However, I too believe that the units directly overlooking the "Green" and the boardwalk from the mid point down are still Preferred BW View catagories. We had no view overlooking the gardens.

But just to be sure, the studio I was in was 4054. Call MS and just double check. This way there are no surprises upon check-in! :)

We were in a villa right over Wyland Galleries last month and I specifically asked the front desk if this villas was considered a boardwalk view villa and she said no it is a garden view villa. The villas in this location used to be considered boardwalk view rooms but with the change to guaranteeing bw views these rooms were re classified and altough still preferred view villas using preferred pts, obviously, they are no longer considered boardwalk view. I was thrilled because I had tried to get a boardwalk view villa and was unsuccessful so I was happy with this villa. We have stayed in the same villa before the change and it was considered a bw view villa then and although the view is not as great as a full frontal view of the boardwalk it is still a very good view,so I was happy!

I wonder if it could be just the 2nd floor rooms that are garden view, since they really don't have a "full" view? Because the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors would have pretty good views. :)

Last month my villa was on the 5th floor and it was considered garden view. We were located directly over Wyland galleries but on an upper floor.

Are some of the upper floors there grand villas? I thought maybe they were because there are many balconies and no dividers. I know some of the grand villas are in the center under the Boardwalk sign but where are the rest?

DeeP - Thanks for the clarification! :) I too thought that the view from that unit was nice. Even thought it wasn't the entire span of the boardwalk, you still had a nice view of the fireworks and the activity at night!

just for clarification, i am sure that all of the rooms above Wyland Galleries, regardless of floor, are considered to be "Garden View".

they are NOT "Boardwalk View".

i know this because, during my visit last month at BWV in a Boardwalk View Studio, the front desk was trying to a find a room for me to switch to (ant problem, long story).
they said to me "the only room that is comparable to your current room is on the 2nd floor".
since i like higher floors, i asked them, "do you have any studios on a higher floor in any other category?"
and then they offered me a choice of a 5th floor studio overlooking the Village Green area.
i was surprised by that answer, because i always thought Village Green was considered Boardwalk View; so i asked them, "isn't that room considered a comparable room since it has a Boardwalk View?"
and their answer was, "no, the rooms in that section overlooking the courtyard are considered Garden View, so they are a different category than Boardwalk View"

this basically means, for those of you who didn't book 11mos out, and all Boardwalk View rooms are sold out, you still have a small chance of overlooking the Boardwalk if you book Garden View, request the courtyard village green view. ;) heh.

i guess it's kind of like the Secret Porthole Rooms on DCL.

the thing is, i do believe that most of the rooms above Wyland Galleries are studios. there is one GV on the corner, i think. maybe on the 4th floor? it wraps around the corner, so it only partially overlooks the courtyard, and the other windows directly face the Boardwalk.

anyway, HTH.

When the new classification system was put in place, my ressie for next spring was automatically made into boardwalk view. I called to ask what that meant, and was told that boardwalk view means you will look straight out at the boardwalk and the lake. The rooms facing the village green are still preferred view, but they are NOT boardwalk view now, so those of us who receive a boardwalk view will not be facing the village green. Seems that there were several complaints about the village green in the past, since no one considers that to be a boardwalk view. One CM said the new system was put into place to take care of all the complaints when members checked in. Now we all know in advance what our view will be.:p

I think they are really stretching it by saying the courtyard views are not boardwalk views! But it is being stretched to the members advantage for those booking at less than 11 months and wanting a boardwalk view. I have seen rooms at the shore that you have to go out on the balcony, hang 1/2 off the balcony way over to the left just to get a glimpse of the beach and they consider these ocean view rooms, LOL! So Disney not considering the courtyard view rooms boardwalk view rooms is reallllllllllllllllllllllly stretching it, but I am NOT complaining because just as disneyberry said, these rooms are like hidden treasure rooms that have great views, that do not have to be booked 11 months out and can be had on a first come first serve basis. :Pinkbounc
As a DVC member with my home resort at BWV, I am so pleased with the additional booking choices and advantages that BWV provides with the two tiered pt sytemn, the guranteed boardwalk view and now the courtyard view!!!!
