CKU-B Meet?

See now I know I should know where Seymour St. is, but can not recall for the life of me.

My Dad is probably a good 10 years older than you and he grew up on Second Street, I think.....hhhm....yeah, Second. Had to stop to visualize for a moment! My parents where in split session high school during the building of Taconic.

My Mom also grew up out on the East side of town, only a couple of streets away from where they live now.

Like you, I have been away so long, I cant even imagine living there

I've been enjoying your stroll down memory lane. ::yes:: So I hate to change the subject. But I have one teeny, tiny question. Where and when are we meeting up? As I said before I get in late Wednesday afternoon and have no plans after that. I think I do have to meet up with some people I'm in a swap with on Thursday at the crop after the Tailgate Party - sometime around 9:30 I think. But other than that only CKU scheduled activities on my agenda. Okay, now back to regularly scheduled reminicing...

I'm planning on doing the make n takes early and will be around there all day Thursday, until my feet get tired! I dont plan on any of the store tours as my scrap room is overflowing!

So, we can meet some time Thursday...or for a quick bite before the crop. I also am not in a dorm or with any group and would love company for the crop, but am open to anything!

Yup, me too. Make-n-Takes, no shopping because I already have way too much stuff, going by myself, not participating in a dorm. And my evening class is scheduled for Friday, not Thursday. So I'm up for meeting just about any time.

And maybe we'll have some classes together??? Here's my schedule...

Looks like we have Heidi Swapp's class together on Saturday! Cool!

Looks like I'll be dashing right from my class to the Tailgate party. Want to meet up for that? Gosh, I better pack snacks!
:mickeybar :mickeybar

I'll check back in later...have to finish my chores and head to the store...we have a block party tonight for the town fireworks!

I just have to add that I am jealous you got into the Metal class and Write from the Heart...you'll have to fill me in on the great ideas from those, they were full when I finalized my classes!

Robin, so sorry, we went off on such a tangent. You had no idea you were among so many MA people did you?

Anyways, I am still trying to figure out whether or not you are wise to schedule anything for Wedesday night since you have a roomate. I do really think its going to take you some time to get through the airport and then to settle in and meet your roomy. Pauline may be the better one to meet up with as she lives right near there and can meet later.

So, as its supposed to be tomorrow night I think I will bow out as I think it might be too much to try and do. Its not an easy hop skip and a jump for me to get into Boston and back out again. I just didn't want the opportunity to pass me by to meet up with you.

Castegazer, I am sorry you cant join us! We have to get together again soon!

I am up to get ready to go...thought I could get a trip in to the gym, but that will have to wait until next Monday, unless I go at the hotel this afternoon. I am still doing laundry...and then I have to pack! Ack! I have never packed to go into Boston, its always been a day trip....

oooh...I dont have a Home Depot Mickey...better dig out some lime green ribbon!

I'll miss not getting to meet you castlegazer. Maybe some other time.

I was up until 4am putting together a layout, making copies, printing out all kinds of bits of info I probably won't need, and of course packing. I've just got a couple last minute things to add to my suitcase and then I'm ready to go. Good thing I've got a long - 4+ hours - plane ride. I should be able to get a nice nap in before all the CKU activities. ;)

So guys, give me the dirt. How was it? What did you all learn? Did you all get to meet each other? I want to live vicariously.

It was awesome, we had such a great time! I spent a lot of time at the crops with Robin and she is so nice! Hi Robin! Also met Pauline and Kimberly (Aurora19) They were both really nice as well!

I am still recovering and have yet to finish any of my projects or put any of them away!

I have not had a chance to load up my photos...but will do soon. These are not my posts....but on two peas, one CKU attendee posted their loot. Now, I only took one making memories class, so I only got one paint can...and I think this pea won more prizes than me, but here is a link to give you an idea of some of the stuff we came away with:

Oh MY GAWWWD! OK, why didn't you sell the event telling me how much free stuff I would get - just kidding, it still wouldn't work for me, but geez - SCORE!

Glad to hear you had such a good time. I wish I could have gone.

I'm going to start a new tread to post my info about CKU (so those who want to find it can) but I wanted to say hi & I had a fantastic time meeting up with you guys!

Loved all my classes but 1 - had tons of fun!

Oh yeah - & I didn't get as much free stuff as that peaposter (I didn't win any door prizes and my MM class did not give everyone in the class a prize - I heard that Friday's class did.)

Hope you made it home safely Robin & are resting up for Masters.

It was great to meet you poohbear ::yes:: I miss you guys already!:wave2:

Whew, I'm still getting back into the "home" swing of things. I had such a great time in Boston, even though I didn't really see any of the city.

I'm so glad I got to meet both aurora19 and poohbear1029. I had fun spending time with y'all.

I didn't come home with near the amount of stuff I did from Nashville, but then I didn't win anything this time around either. (Well, I did win a few things in a MM class but not a bag of goodies or anything at the crops.) That's okay though. I have so much stuff as it is that I still don't know where to put it all.

I loved my classes. I'm so glad I chose based on what I thought could help more than what I thought would be fun. I think my favorite class of all was Cathy Z.'s "Scraphic Design". (Her class was one of the main reasons I chose to go to Boston as opposed to waiting for Provo or San Jose.) My least favorite class was "Innovative Cards and Tags" sponsored by Scrapworks. It was a good class just not a whole lot of new techniques or anything.

I enjoyed the MM classes, but to be honest I didn't really care for Heidi Swapp's teaching style (or lack thereof as she would say.) I just thought she talked too much before getting into the projects so that we didn't have time to get them done, or even near done. Margie, on the other hand, got into the projects right away. Plus she's a real hoot. (I just noticed that the MM class I'm signed up for at Master's is now being taught by the "design team" instead of H.S., as expected. I hope it's Margie teaching it!)

castlegazer, yes ::yes:: you missed a great time. But it was also exhausting. I slept almost the whole time on the plane back and until noon on Monday trying to get caught up on sleep. It would have been nice to meet you when I was up your way - we'll have to figure out another time I guess. Oh, and don't worry that I was left bored on Wednesday evening. I caught one of the shuttles to one of the "local" scrapbook stores with my roommate and a few others. We even convinced the shuttle driver to stop at Dairy Queen on the way back to the hotel.

Wish you could have been there! It would have been fun to have a local buddy with me! I did run into Paula from A Page in Time. She was having a good time as well! She remembered our "private" class!

Robin, glad you finally got some rest....I was worried about you and your little "bun in the oven"...that was a long, foodless weekend for me, let alone someone is pregnant like yourself!

I thought Heidi's class was a bit rushed too...which only added to my mental shutdown on working on her project....but I think the mini book is awesome and I am now seeking out the supplies to make one boy one and one girl one to give to two separate girlfriends who are each expecting in November. By the way...did you happen to take photos of the whole project? If so, can you post or email? I think I lost track of some of the pages in the Heidi Swapp class.

You'll have to come back when you have time and castlegazer and I can spend time showing you the Boston sites!
