After listening to the discussion show this past week, I wanted to get some opinions. DH and I are going to Vegas next month and had planned on going to see a Cirque show (sorry Pete). We were thinking of Love but then it sounded like John was giving a shout-out to Mystère. It looks like there are 6 shows to choose from so I wanted to get some opinions from experts - which is the best Cirque show in Vegas?

I have heard that Love is better than La Nouba. I plan on seeing Love when I'm in Las Vegas this December. This is the only Cirque show where the show was designed around the music. This is the only Cirque show that uses prerecorded music. They took samples from 130 Beatles songs and created 26 musical pieces. The seats have 3 speakers and 2 are in the headrest. So if you go see Love make sure you keep your head back in the headrest.
I have heard that most people cry at the end of the show. I don't want to giveaway the finale tho. Have a great time at whatever show you pick. :goodvibes

I haven't been to Vegas in a few years so I've only seen the first two. Mystere and "O". Personally, I like Mystere better. Both were good but I connected better with Mystere. So much so I've seen it three times. :)

Being a huge Beatles fan, next time I get there, it's "Love" in a heartbeat! I have the CD and what George Martin and his son did with the original masters is nothing short of outstanding. :thumbsup2

I've yet to see La Nub at DD.

Have fun Stacy! :goodvibes

I have seen Ka and Zoomanity in Vegas. I absolutely LOVED Ka. It is at the MGM Grand. It was just amazing, and it is something to witness. I can't recommend it more. I have seen La Nouba, and in my opinion Ka blows it out of the water.

Zoomanity was fine, I was glad I saw it. I won't see it again though. I can't speak to Love or O or Mystere (and isn't there a newer one too? with Chris Angel?) But Ka gets VERY high marks from me.

I did stay at the Mirage after Love opened, and I can tell you that the area outside the theater is something to behold. It feels like you are in a cartoon. Very cool.

DH and I saw Zumanity at the NYNY. It was my first Cirque show...but it's VERY VERY adult oriented. I would skip it if that would bother you...

For our next trip to Vegas, if it's still playing, I want to see Love...I've heard wonderful things about the show!

If you are keeping score...

John

Mystere - Thumbs down

La Nouba - Thumbs up.

Kevin

Mystere - Thumbs up

La Nouba - Thumbs up

O - Thumbs down (it's a one trick pony and once you understand that the floor in the pool is there sometimes and sometimes not.....it's just ehh)

Stacy - I vote for Mystere. I saw that a few years ago when I was in Vegas for a conference. It was really cool. I also like La Nouba when I saw it.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in for what it's worth :cutie:

I saw on the cirque web site that they're starting a new show in Vegas soon...ELVIS! :thumbsup2

I'm so there.

Wonder if Satman will be a main character?????? :confused3

We saw Love while in Vegas, and thought it was fabulous! If you like the Beatles then you will really enjoy the show.

...BTW, we saw Mystere and really liked it. Still haven't seen La Nouba, but thinking about going during our October visit.

Kevin (or anyone else) - how does La Nouba compare to Mystere?

Mystere was "eh" to DH and I. We saw the traveling one - Corteo - and I'd say it ranks right below La Nouba but definitely above Mystere.

I have a theory that the best Cirque you will ever see is the first one you ever see :) It's hard to top that one! For me, that was La Nouba.

Edit: I will say the Mystere auditorium was beautiful!

I vote for Love, but I have only seen Love and O. I agree with what George said, the music in Love is just amazing. It is one of my favorite CDs to listen to.

Here a suggestion, try listening to the little clips of the music. Most of the Cirque music is available on iTunes and you can listen to the clips for free. There are clips for the Love CD on Best Buy. I think the music gives you an idea of what is more your style.

I don't think you will be disappointed whatever you decide. Have a great time in Vegas!

Thanks for all of the replies! Based on the advice here, I will buy tickets for Love but if we have the ability to catch Ka or Mystere while we are there, we will do that too. I've just added it to my ever-growing list of "things to do". I knew I could count on you guys - thanks!

Kevin - I must've either misheard John or misunderstood his sarcasm (could be either ;)) Again - thanks for all of the advice!

Uh, live here in Vegas. . .have seen most cirque shows. Including those traveling shows like Dragone. . .Dragone was my favorite cirque show. Anyway, not in question these days. I have seen all the Vegas cirque shows except Love so cannot comment on that one. My fave by far is Mystere. I have also seen the Criss Angel show and still prefere Mystere. Second for me was Ka. Zumanity is awesome but definitely not for anyone who cannot deal with sensual theatre. It is totally a visual work of art.

Now, I have never seen La Noube or Love so cannot comment on those two.

A word about the Criss Angel show. If you go to see Criss at his best, you will be disappointed. If you go for the Cirque aspect you will be disappointed. Its a great show, just that neither aspect shines. . .it is also very bizzare. You must love the macabre and the bizzare to enjoy this show.

I have the Love CD too. I bought it at the La Nouba gift shop. I'm listing to it now. :goodvibes

You must let us know what you thought of it. I can't wait to go in December.

I see you've had plenty of responses already, but I have to throw mine in there, too! ;)

We've seen four Cirque shows, so far. My personal preference (favorite to least favorite):

1. Love - everything you expect and so, so much more! I was literally speechless walking out of there - just phenomenal!
2. La Nouba - Great show - I think we've seen it four times now!
3. Ka - To be honest, I wasn't completely blown away, but it was still very good. Just not as memorable to me as the others.
4. O - Just as Kevin described, this got old very quickly. I know a lot of people love it, but I was ready to leave after the first 45 minutes or so.

Now, I've heard from lots of people who still swear that Mystere is the best show out there. We've made plans to see this on our last 3 Vegas trips, and we wound up canceling it every single time! We WILL get there next trip - I'm determined!!
