WOW Tangerine Cafe looks amazing I cant wait to eat here next wk! That chicken tender meal your oldest DD had looks big! DH loves chicken tenders!

The food is so fresh at TC :thumbsup2 and the chicken tenders were very tasty too.

They have them at Morrisons and Asda where I live, and they also have the Reece's Pieces too.

NOOOOOOOOO! don't tell me that, I have a Morrisons in the town next to me...bang goes the diet then! Still at least I will have my fix :goodvibes Thanks ;)

Breakfast

More cinnamon rolls for breakfast from the snack credit allowance and we also had a breakfast platter from good to go OKW. It was just OK, the eggs were ok, but the breakfast potatoes left a lot to be desired, the taste wasn't too bad but they looked a but grey and yukky

Lunch

we ate at pizza planet, being as we were all hungry by 11.30, and this place opens it's doors a tad earlier that elsewhere. If I'm honest it was the kids choice rather than mine. I think the place looks awesome from the outside, but find the interior to be a big disapointment; and the tables and chair are like something for a 'smokers corner' facility at a run down factory  I think disney have missed a real trick with this place but that's just my opinion and my kids adore the place.

anyhow we had a pizza each and cookies for dessert. the pizza's did the trick, nothing spectacular and not a patch on wolfgang puck express. the cookies were disapointing, not fresh and a bit chewy but in the wrong way. and yet again we picked a wobbly table...or maybe ALL of the tables are wobbly...maybe it's disneys plan to make you eat and back out again to spend more money ( ok that is a tad on the cynical side and very non-disney of me :upsidedow)

On the plus side, I do like the packets of salad dressing etc. that you can choose and the salad itself was very crisp and fresh.

later that very same afternoon...

we discovered a real treat tucked away... The Writer's stop. this tiny place sells cakes and coffee and also cooking type bits and peices and of course books. It has a comfy settee and a few perching chairs but very little seating other than that. DH and i had a coffee ( Cappucino ) each and the girls picked the bluest cupcake i have ever seen. It was so rich that they couldn't eat it all, but gave it a darn good go! this place is a real gem, a peaceful place to rest and serves decent coffee for a ride weary guest.

PUBLIC HEALTH NOTICE- your tounge WILL turn BLUE

later that afternoon we headed back to OKW and I purchased some delactable items for the shop:

The wine is Caymus condundrum and cost $26.95. This is a fab chardonnay.:thumbsup2 very rich and creamy with a hint of pineapple.. ok wait a minute that might be because I brought some dried pineapple chunks as well

Florida2009078.jpg

I also got some of these :worship::worship:We didn't know what they were on our 1st trip around Halloween and a nice American lady told us about them :thumbsup2delish candy corn! Mickey style. We don't 'do' Halloween in the same way in the U.K., in fact some folks are really miserable about trick or treaters and will sit in the dark, pretending they are out, rather than answer the door. I think it's a real shame and a chance for community spririt to come out, :sad2: Needless to say I LOVE Halloween and deck our our front door to invite trick or treaters

I love that cupcake shot!!! Your photos are wonderful as are your reviews! THX for sharing!:wizard:

Dinner

I had booked Mama Melrose, but Dh said he wasn't bothered much so i suggested we stay at OKW and go to Olivia's - there are only so many bus trips that a gal can do in a day and we wanted to chill out a little. So i wnet to front desk and cancelled our ADR at MM.

Olivia had no trouble in fitting us in - the lady at the podium asked me if I wanted a booth -I went into panic mode, what is a booth? , is it chewy?, is it for me or all of us ? will Ameila like it? :confused:So not wanting to appear like a total idiot I said 'whatever, i really don't mind' in a nonchalant way whilst sweating profusely.

When we arrive at the booth (- seating !) I realize what it is - I AM a complete idiot. I love the booth, bring on the booth! It's not a table and chairs out in the abyss of the main dining room, its a cosy booth!

We didn't have starters as the dining plan was really begining to kick-in in the waistline area...and thighs....and butt...and podgy toes.

we had coconut bread- not quite sure about this combo. jury is still out.

Florida2009082-1.jpg

Megan had a vanilla milkshake we all had diet coke.

Florida2009080.jpg

I had the special of the day which was buttermilk chicken. As I love chicken I went for this option and it was very yummy, good, wholesome, not messed about with food.

Florida2009084.jpg

both DH and Megan went for the pork

Florida2009086-1.jpg

little 'um went for chicken and fries

Florida2009083-1.jpg

desserts were a 'must do'

I love key lime pie so thats what i had:

Florida2009090-1.jpg

DH went for the cheesecake:

Florida2009087-1.jpg

Amelia 'the little 'un' chose the usual ice cream

Florida2009089.jpg

Megan had the choc cake

Florida2009091.jpg

All were BIG portions, 'low and behold' I could not eat all of mine and it's not often that a dessert beats me, especially when it's yummy.

review :

Lighting level
: 9.5/10 - very light and airy.

Noise level : 9/10 nice quiet place to eat. very few dinner guests.

Ambience: 8/10 relaxed and laid back like the real place. nice decor.not all rushed to leave.

service:  6/10 our server was BRAHIM, Everything was provided, he just wasn't very chatty or overly friendly, but he was serving a larger group and getting on with them like a house on fire.

food quality: 7/10 - food was good, wholesome food, but not fine dining by any standard, if you are on site - it would do quite nicely. the desserts were the stars of the show.

dine again? 5/10 - only if we were staying on site at OKW, not really worth a trip to eat here.

we used 4 table service credits ( and I dont know how much it would have cost OOP, as I didn't keep that bit of the bill.)

Loving the reviews and photos...the one of your DH's cheesecake just cracks me up.

There he is...sitting patiently with hands folded,
waiting for you...to take a photo...of his food.:rotfl2:

Now I understand that is what anyone does who wants to return home and write a detailed dining review for their friends on the DIS, but if I even ventured to ask my DH to hold off taking a bite of his dessert so that I could snap a shot...ouch, I don't even want to go there....:rotfl: It would be a blur of food, fork and a look of fury:lmao:

So glad we all get to enjoy the fruits of your labor...and your family's cooperation, of course. Keep 'em coming!! :goodvibes

He did get used to it towards the end of the holiday, and my eldest was really into taking piccies of food so she told him off; if he so much as lifted his fork before the shot had been taken:lmao: He did have a cunning plan of ordered the same as DD tho' sometimes so I only needed the one- of hers :lmao:

Where is The Writer's stop...geez I feel like a newbie:headache: My DD7 would ADORE that blue cupcake!!!!:cloud9:

Blue tongue - hilarious!
My boys would love it!

Was that pizzetta at Tutto with sauce or actual tomato pieces/slices?

Thanks for your reviews! I about busted a gut laughing at your booth at Olivia's! I read it to my DH - that is just too funny!!

You might be surprised that a lot of Americans sit in the dark pretending to not be home when the children come trick-or-treating around halloween. Many people here don't like it either. (I am a big fan though!).

So glad to see a review of Olivia's. We will be staying at OKW in less than 2 weeks and I never see reviews of it.

So, what do you call 'booths' in the U.K.?

Those look DELISH!!! Where is Sleepy Hollow located?
It's right next to The Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square.

I have to ask, did you use a snack credit on the waffles?

no I paid OOP for this, we also had a coffee and a OJ and it came to $24.86.

It's near to the Sci-Fi diner and it's on a corner.

Blue tongue's a really cool aren't they, some folks go for matching t-shirts, but tongues is much more original:rotfl:

The kids pizzetta was sauce, no way would my DD have eaten anything that has a real tomato on it!

Love your review!! Signing up!! popcorn::

:thumbsup2 Thank -you

OKW is a nice relaxing place, hope you enjoy it and you can have a nice relaxed meal at Olivia's as there is no rush to 'move you on' as you feel in the other restaurants sometimes.

Ah the booths thing, i suspect we call them booths too :rolleyes1. We don't have a lot of places with them in, I can think of Frankie and Benny's, pizzahut, and that's about it. Never really thought about what they were called before :rotfl2:

great reviews. I'm in:)

Thanks !
