Cinnamon Roll Tour 2009 - 14 days of free DDP!

Lunch at Cosmic rays

quick stop for some lunch; I didn't get a picci of the burgers that DH and DD12 had as they went to a different counter to me and had made a big dent in them by the time i got mine . we used 4 quick service credits

I had the chicken caeser salad, coffee and carrot cake

DD7 had a hot dawg!

Hoop De Doo

We had a 5pm table booked at HDD and we arrived 30 mins prior to check-in. The check-in podium is out in the hot sun with no shade, as is the queue for the photo,so we skipped it, and wandered around the shop and had a a sit in the shade in a rocking chair.

The door opened dead on 5pm, and there was a real stampede for the seating so really authentic 'wild west' right from the start :rotfl: ( don't worry folks, there is enough food and seating for everyone, you booked 3 months ahead remember!) Within 3 minutes everyone was seated and sweaty, all hail air-con.

To start with: cornbread, honey butter and tossed salad. The bread was a little dry and the salad had a bit too much dressing, but it was ok.

The coach arrived and the team of 6 started their show, amusing and funny.

for the main meal we had : Ma's Delicious Fried Chicken,Smoked Barbecued Pork Ribs, Mashed Potatoes,Country Style Baked Beans.

The chicken and beans were my favorites. I have read some poor reviews of the beans but I loved them!

Review:

Lighting level: 8/10 good for the setting, the lights were dimmed for the entertainment parts and raised again for munching.

Noise level: 7/10 noisy, but it's all part of the yee-ha atmosphere so go along with it - very noisy at the end due to my kids not wanting to part with their washboard, and getting every last note out of it.

Ambience: 7/10 you can almost hear the stage coaches outside! nice theming.

Service: 6/10 don't have the name of our server. He was fine. All the servers dissappeared at certain points of the show, which was annoying if you wanted something. service was incl with the price of the show.

food quality ; 7/10 nothing special, not bad either. I think it's pretty standard show type food, it's never going to be fine dining and there is plenty of it.

dine again? : no, I think so. We have done it once and that was enough. I think I prefered Spirit of aloha over at the poly, but I think that is because I like the theme and the romance of the polynesian isles.

The total bill for a 4 of us came to $191.96 (£116.33) we used 8 table service credits.

I am loving you reviews Andrea, your pictures are great, I am so excited for December so I can have some yummy goodness of my own

Great reviews. We're going to OKW in a few weeks and will be on the DDP. We don't have an ADR for it this time but Tutto looks very impressive :thumbsup2
Also good to know you can get cinnamon rolls/muffins etc with snack credits, thanks!

All caught up :) Loving the "food porn" can't wait to see more :)

The Hoop De Doo looks awesome, love corn bread, love fried chicken and love mash, maybe me and DF should give this a try.

Chefs looked good, we had ressies there last year, but had to skip it due to the dreaded holiday flu I get whenever I go on holiday. Tad annoyed as I wish we could have seen Remy.

Must go to Sleepy Hollow and try funnel cake, walked past it last year and it smelt delish, didn't know they did Mickey Waffles as well though :)

Can't wait to read more :)

Excellent reviews! I have enjoyed them all and eagerly await the next one :)

Tuesday 1st September 2009

Breakfast was the usual Cinnamon roll and Choc muffins for the girls as snack credits.

We went to Seaworld today and had lunch at the Spice Mill. The fries are very yummy and well spiced. i had to incl a piccie of DD7's meal. We took the plates home and she uses them everyday

Kids Hotdog meal was $7.29 We also had 2 cheeseburgers to share a cola and a bowl of Shamu cookies whicch were $4.99 Ttoal bill was $30.26 normal fodder for the masses and the cookies were hard and dry but we wanted the bowl!

Florida2009209-1.jpg

Florida2009210-1.jpg

The fries are worth dining here for. Everything else was average fodder.

Dinner at California Grill

We had a ressie for 7:55pm. we arrived early, parked and headed to the podium to check -in. duly signed up we made our way to the elevators and were transported to the top floor. Everything about this experience makes you feel special - I can only liken it to the final scene in titanic when Jack is waiting at the clock for Rose to arrive and when she does everyone is happy and have been waiting a long time for her to arrive. That's what it felt like to arrive at Calli Grill :goodvibes

Florida2009235.jpg

Florida2009236.jpg

We were seated right next to a window with an amazing view of MK and bay lake. the gils had coke and we had a glass of dry white wine - we asked our server to pick and she chose well ;)

We both had a glass of Kunde NU Chardonay.

Florida2009234-1.jpg

Apps:

I had the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli - with sun-dried tomatoes, pesto, shiitake mushrooms and basil* $13

Florida2009237.jpg

i love pasta, i love goats cheese and I love tomatoes so this was pure heaven for me and i savoured every mouthful. you know when you don't want it to end ?

Dh had the cheeseboard :

Banon de Chalais , Comte , Fleur de Maquis , Rogue River Blue , Cabrales> He loves cheese and devoured his plate.

Florida2009238.jpg

Megan had tomato soup, which i don't see on allears.net She really loved this soup and scoffed the lot!

Florida2009239.jpg

ameila had golden fishes and ate most of the bread too :cutie:

Florida2009240.jpg

:)

Great review and a bonus the great pictures. Keep it up. I have to ask though, the day you went to Cinderella's castle for late breakfast you had a picture of little brown squares in a cup? What are they and where can I get them? They look so good. Keep the reviews coming

Entrees at CG:

I had Wild Sockeye Salmon - with hearts of palm, heirloom tomatoes, avocado, charred red onion vinaigrette $38. I love eveything about this and once again I didn't want it to end.

Florida2009246.jpg

DH had par seared filet steak with courgette and mashed potatoes. don't see this on allears.net. It was melting.

Florida2009248-1.jpg

Megan had the Grilled Pork Tenderloin - with goat cheese polenta, button mushrooms and zinfandel glaze $32 - a big hit with Meg.

Florida2009247.jpg

Ameila had - guess what ...Pizza - really pushing the adventure taste buds to the max  She ate it so it must have been good.:thumbsup2

Florida2009249.jpg

After dinner we watched wishes. This was really nice to see from 'high up'.

Florida2009251.jpg

Also some shots of the view - a bit blurred ;

Florida2009256.jpg

Florida2009258.jpg

desserts at CG

I like - ok love desserts and CG did not disappoint.

I had : Black Walnut and Chévre Cheesecake - Laura Chenel Cheesecake with Crushed Black Walnuts, crisp Almond Cookie, and Pudwill Farms Berries $11. this was so delish and i was so full already, no way was I leaving any behind. No way Man!

Florida2009262-1.jpg

Dh had : Trio of Temptation - not sure if this is the same as listed on allears or not and darn it he can't remember! (Cheesecake with Pistachio Cookie and Chocolate Banana Sauce, White Chocolate Mousse with Passion Fruit Puree, and Florida Strawberries with Mojito "Sabyon" $11. )needless to say he was able to scoff the whole lot!

Florida2009264.jpg

Meg had: Valrhona Chocolate Cake and Cherries - Warm chocolate cake with molten center, housemade cherry swirl ice cream and balsamic macerated bing cherries $12- ding- dong-yum!( not sure if this is same as allears as the fruit loks like a plum to me!)

Florida2009267-1.jpg

Amelia had Crisped Rice Sushi Plate $5.00, she had a bit of a pick at this and removed most of the wrapping and ate the rice krispy things!

Florida2009263.jpg

review:

Lighting level: 9.5/10 really nice mood lighting. dimmed for Wishes.

Noise level : 7/10 much louder than i thought it would be. I think the open kitchen/open plan layout adds to the noise; as do family groups. It's not unbearable, just not what you would expect.

Ambience: 10/10 top knotch. the mood is just right, the views are too die for. ( no really... you would die of you went a bit too far over!) Tables are well spaced apart. Most folks make an effort with their attire, taking you out of the 'hey, I'm on vacation' mode.

Service: 10/10 Our server was CAROL , she was awesome. We loved Carol. she chose our wine, which was scrummy. She helped DH with his main choice. She was informed but not pushy and knew when to turn up. This did gt DD12's Apps wrong and this was immediatley rectified and apology made.

Food quality: 10/10 - nuff said! I Love to cook and I am often disappointed when dining out, as are my clan claiming ; 'mummy yours is better' . I am soooo not up to this standard of food! all hail CG :worship:

dine again? : Oh yeah baby. CG will be on every trip :thumbsup2. I would recommend to anyone. A very classy place to dine.

The bill came to $249.00 (£150.00)
20% tip = $49.(£29.69)

We used 8 table service credits in total for the 4 of us and 'the room' for the tip and extra. Don't you just love it when t'he room' pays for stuff. good old room!

Wednesday 2nd Sept 2009

the usual for breakfast. chocolate muffins, cinnamon rolls and fruit loops for the little 'un.

we had a shoppng day today so ate luch at premium food court - a good job we went for shopping rather than food quality. It was ok , barely.

dinner was at Narcoossees.

I love it when the room pays for things too lol. Andrea you have me in a dilemma, I make my ADR's on Monday, and our signatures are Flying Fish and Narcoossees, that steak looks so good at California Grill and I know that Ian would devour the salmon, what to do, what to do??? I won't swap Flying Fish as we love it, but Narcoossees or CG, Narcoossees or CG !!!
