Cinnamon Roll Tour 2009 - 14 days of free DDP!

WOW CHefs looks great, I think I would enjoy lunch much more than dinner, I will have to make a mental note for when DH and I make our DDP trip for just the two of us, I also love Quiche Lorraine! That cheese pastry and "grilled cheese" also look great, do you see a trend here? I love CHEESE! LOL

Great reviews so far. We're going in a week and reading the reviews has me SO EXCITED! :)

I never would have thought to eat at Les Chefs before but that Prix Fixe menu is right up my alley!!

Andrea, I am very much enjoying your witty style of writing. And the pics are a great accompaniment to the story!

We will be trying Chefs for the first time in November, mainly because DS16 wants to try escargot. He is a terrible eater, just like your Amelia. But he spent 10 days in Europe this summer & expanded his horizons a little. Just the fact that he wants to taste something is a miracle!

(He came home liking Irish stew, & potatoes!)

We had almost the identical lunches at Chefs in July- we also thought the food was very good and enjoyed seeing Remy!

Really enjoying your reviews- looking forward to reading more!

Oh that Croque ---- thing looks so good!! Ham and Cheese is a weakness with me. That picture made my mouth water!

Keep'em coming!

Oooh...I think I'd like this place!! Everything looks yummy! However, we'll be a group of 16 in June...somehow, with as close as everyone seemed to be with each other, I don't think we'd make it!

Great review - can't wait for more!! popcorn::

I'm getting hungry :mickeybar from all those delicious PICTURES you are posting!!!! Thanks for the report!

Hi Andrea! Great start to your reveiws so far. :thumbsup2 I love the quiche at Chefs de France ... it's one of the reasons that I love having lunch there. I'm going to try to force myself to order something different when we lunch there next month but I'm already pretty sure I'm doomed for failure. :lmao:

Looking forward to reading more!

Hi Bendy!, I loved the quiche, so hard to choose anything else

Enjoying your reviews! Can't wait to hear the rest.:)

Thanks! I'll do my best.

Loving your reviews so far! Thanks for sharing!:cheer2:

Great reviews. Thanks for taking the time to add the details for lighting, noise level, etc.

We are eating at Les Chefs next month. I am for sure going to order the Profiteroles au Chocolat . My ds11 will be getting , as he calls it, the fancy hamburger so good to read you liked it. We will also be eating at Crystal Palace for dinner so looking forward to that one also. (ate there for lunch last year and not sure if there is a big difference)

Great start - awesome writing style and pics. Can't wait for the rest.

Thanks, and the profiteroles were heavenly!

Dinner at Crystal Palace

I had wanted an earlier dinner, but when I rang to make the ADR, They only had 7:30pm and I knew this would be a little late, being our 1st full day. I did keep checking the online booking system and there were no openings so we rolled up at 7:15pm.

The kids were excited about seeing Pooh bear and gang so their energy levels were ok. We were given a pager and told it would be about a 20 min wait, so we hit the shops. As we wandered back the pager went off and we hurried back ( I am sorry if I trampled on you but nothing gets in the way of me and my food ) I could hear a CM was calling our name,( or a version of it ) but she kept moving away and the crowds around the entrance to CP are deep and never ending. Eventually we made it to the lass and scored our table.

Our server told us that pooh would be at our table in a few minutes so we should wait before going to the buffet. I could see DH was getting restless; waiting to eat when it is laid out virtually in front of you in a tough call.

He went off and got a plate of food, It is quite difficult to take piccied at a buffet as by the time I had got mine his 1st plate had been scoffed!

Anyway- here are some piccies of one of his plates! He loves salad so he had plenty of that. He didn't like the bread roll as it had cranberries in it and he hates them.

I like more traditional stuff:
florida2009098.jpg

This inclues : garlic redskin smashed potates, fire roasted cornbread, ratatouille, ancho Chile rubbed salmon, cinnamon & lemon infused Balsamic glazed rice and broccoli.

I love the cornbread, slamon and mash - great food!

2nd plate :

This plate has ; flame roasted rotisserie chicken (centre back), herb roasted turkey (centre front) medley of veggies with balsamic glaze, more cornbread and wild mushroom & chicken pasta

once again this plate was yummy. The turkey was melt in the mouth.

DH's 2nd plate or a meat fest !

this is as far as I can tell prime rib, he asked for the scraggy bits on the right of the plate as he loves those bits :goodvibes, he said it was amazing.

We had so little room for desserts, we forced ourselves to have these:

florida2009106.jpg

An apple? :confused3 what was I thinking :lmao: the red one is the red velvet cheesecake, this was very rich and I couldn't eat it all. I am not sure that the other one was, it was very creamy.

the girls had sundae and cookies- all were declared delish.

florida2009103-2.jpg

Cost : the total bill came to $122.44 ( (£74.20)

suggested tip:

18% = $20.69 ( £12.53)
20% = $13.93

We used 4 table service credits and paid the tip in cash.

review:

Lighting level: 8/10 good enough to see your food and take good piccies.
noise level: 2/10 OMG this place is loud! I had to lip-read our server :lmao:
Ambience : 8/10 - nice relaxed and fun at times. the characters are great.
Service: 9/10 our server was LISA, she was friendly and efficient, refils were quickly taken care of and used plated bussed away quickly. she told us the timimg of the visits of the charcters etc - so no problems
Food quality : really good for a buffet.everything was hot and replenished quickly. the meats were melting.
Dine again? : I would dine here again, but by 7;30pm most folks kids were getting tetchy and this only added to the noise level in the room. I would not recommend this place for a romantic meal. I think I prefer breakfast here to dinner, but it made a nice change.

we popped into the general stor at OKW and got a bag a lays chips and a bottle of pinot grigio. this came to $20.18 (£12.23) We enjoyed the wine sat on our balcony. very civilized!

And this concluded our 1st day of scoffing. :cloud9:

Up next ...breakfast at Pizzafari, cocktails and Tutto iItalia.

Enjoying your review and can't wait to read more. I thank you for taking the pictures of the food. We love eating at Chefs de France and CP (my husband loves the salmon)

Yep I would call that Prime Rib as well, not just some type of beef. That is good to see and hear, we were so disappointed to hear that the Prime Rib was taken off all the buffets. Well clearly there is one buffet left. Let's hope it stays that way until we get there! LOL

Oh boy CP looks great we will be there next wk for the first time and would you believe I have never had prime rib, I just started eatting more beef lately and I am looking fwd to trying it!

Thursday 27th August 2009

Breakfast at Pizzafari in AK. We used up 4 quick service credits for this but is would have cost $43.68 (£26.47) We had :

2 x bacon breakfast platter
1 x sausage breakfast platter
1 kids french toast
3 bottles dasani water
1 large coffee
2 orange juices and
1 kids orange juice

You will notice that we were a drink short on the dining plan drinks credit 7 instead of 8 , but never mind, we had more than enough.

The kids french toast was a bit soggy, we had a bit each and shared our 3 meals out. I have a couple of piccies. i wasn't impressed with the quality of food or the variety of offerings. I have to make a special mention of the bacon ...YUK. It didn't really taste of anything and wasn't crispy but floppy, we were really disappointed with the bacon. ALL disney bacon tasted like this:sad2:. The sausage pattie was far superior.

Also I think DH picked the wobbliest table in the place and instead of doing the sensible thing and moving we just sat it out. HAHAHA

We had a popcorn scoop later on with a snack credit. this was nice and fresh tasting.

Back at OKW DH and I had a Turtle Krawl from the gurgling suitcase. This was very tasty and refreshing.(This cost $17.58 for 2)

Good food reviews looking forward to reading more :goodvibes
