We are thinking of spending an evening chill' at the cinema whilst out there. Are they much different from our cinemas or would it be a waste of an evening?

Thanks

8 days to go :cool1:

hiya

we went to the cinema at dtd, it was great, they layout is a bit different from ours plus the screen was huge, shame about the film lol it was shanghai knights!!

We went to the cinama at DTD - it is huge!

I suppose you just hope that there is something exciting out that you can go home and boast to your friends that you saw it first!

Open now!

The cinema at Celebration is nice, its like an old fashined two screen cinema, but a lot more choice at the AMC at downtown Disney.

Some of our favourite nights have been spent at the cinema at DTD - make sure you do it like the americans though, massive cokes and popcorn are a must! The selection of snack/junk food is astounding (and the prices) but adds to the whole experience.

The two differences I noticed when we went a few years ago were,

1. There are no adverts, just film trailers, tonnes of them.

2. Children (it seems) can watch any film as long as they have an adult with them. I saw a father take 3 boys between 6-10 to see "Shaft" (15-18 rated in the UK).

It can be a nice was to round off the day, or to escape the sun for a while as long as there is something decent on.

Hi, we went to the cinema at DTD in may to see Star wars episode 3, it was fab, cinema and seats were huge, obviously there was a lot af excitement around the film but, the audience were clapping and cheering in parts, it really was a great experience and we would definately do it again, it was also very nice to sit in comfy seats in air con for two hours! :earsgirl:

It's a good way to spend an evening and even better if you can catch something that's not due out here for ages. Cinema at DTD is great just like multiplex's at home only much more comfortable. Only real difference is that people clap at end of movie which we found a bit odd :flower:

My advice, don't each the popcorn, unless you like butter. It was horrible and the smell drove me crazy. Other than that the cinemas are the same as ours really.

We went to the one at DTD. Much the same as the newer complexes here. We embarrassed ourselves by sitting in the area reserved for wheelchair users and their families- we realised our mistake and moved (as did 2 other families that entered after us). We didn't have any clapping at the end of the film - but we did over here when we saw Return of the Jedi when it first came out.

I went to the cinema at Citywalk.

Cinema was pretty much like here except you could buy alcohol.

DO NOT get popcorn unless you really like salt or butter. It's gross!

The best bit is seeing something that isnt our here for ages,

:flower:

 Hi flounder,

We've been to DTD cinema a few times and it was great, last time we went they were playing the santa clause 2 (in Dec obviously lol) it was a great start to our xmas hols, also if you can go before 6pm it's cheaper and you can get a discount if you have annual passes at any time of the day. :) If i remember correctly the seats reclined as well, butt mebe they don't do this in every screen.

Hope this helps.

We try to go to the cinema at least once every vacation - first time we'd ever been in a "multiplex" was to see Raiders of the Lost Ark many moons ago - that was great because when we got home no-one had even heard of it and it took about a year to be released in the UK! :rotfl2:

AMC at DTD is great and Muvico at the Pointe on I-Drive is good too (it even has an IMAX screen!).

Fantasia 2000 got a standing ovation on it's day of release on 01/01/2000 - it was shown on the IMAX screen at Muvico - and my DH was laughing out loud at all the folk whooping & hollering at the end! :rotfl:

We usualy go to a movie at the AMC24 or the one at Universal entrance.
I will say this though.....whatever you do, do not go to the one at the Osceola Mall...its a 1970's fleapit.....dreadful place.

Just to let you know "chill" is the right word, it is always freezing in the cinemas, wear long trousers and a cardi or jumper, when you are sitting for 2 hours plus in shorts & t shirt in air conditioning it is cold to the point of walking out to get a warm lol.

Dont listen to them about the popcorn, its delicious! Its really fresh and there are butter dispensers so you can add it yourself. Yum Yum!!

For anyone who is interested in catchin' a movie while in the US - check out Movieweb for the future release dates and movie reviews.

Just noticed that the new King Kong movie is released on 14th Dec - I will be adding this to my plans !

We go to the city walk multiplex its great.Seats recline slightly and are very comfy. We often go on a sunday night as the shops close early. You can usually get a meal and a movie deal which is good value.Enjoy!

We'll be going at Christmas time this year as I've gotmy hands on some vouchers for the cinema at DTD. robably watch King Kong.

we saw spiderman 2 at DTD when it came out.Everyone was cheering and shouting at the screen, also couldn't get over the amount of food people ate during the film!!Once you get used to the idea that there'll be lots of noise it turns into a great experience.
