**Cinderella's Honeymoon**AKL**DxDDP**A Magical Time**

So tonight we decided to skip the ADR we had originally had and have dinner at Jiko. We walked into Jiko and asked what the wait would be for 2 - they said they could seat us immediately. I had heard such WONDERFUL reviews about Jiko here on the DIS and my expectations were through the roof!!! We were seated and ordered two unsweet teas with lemon. Our drinks arrived along with a basket of breads. We then ordered appetizers which arrived within about 10 minutes. DH ordered the Lamb "Patis" which is pulled lamb rolled in phyllo, with mint-cilantro chutney. He enjoyed this very much - it was his first time eating lamb - he said it was very mild, not spicy and he loved the dipping sauce that it came with. For my appy I had the Taste of Africa which included Kalamata Olive Hummus, Durban Tikka Masala, and Malay Spinach-Lentil Dip with Lentil Pappadam, whole wheat lavosh, and flaxseed Naan bread. Ok, so you probably can't even pronounce any of that....neither could I :rotfl: The only thing I remotely liked was the olive hummus - everything else was WAY spicy and weird tasting... Next we ordered our main courses. I ordered the Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon with macaroni and cheese and red wine sauce. This was SPECTACULAR!!!!! I totally enjoyed this dish - the DIS didn't steer me wrong on this one!!!! The filet was cooked to perfection, the mac & cheese had a great creaminess to it, and the sauce was rich and wonderful!! DH decided that since he loved his Lamb appetizer he would go with the Braised Lamb Shank with toasted couscous, baby spinach, and berbere sauce. He didn't like this at all.....He would have liked it cooked more, he hates the sauce (too spicy) and the couscous was mushy. DH is a huge eater and only ate a few bites of this.... We had horrible tastes in our mouth but figured NO BODY can mess up dessert, so we ordered. DH ordered the house-made Lemon Curd with pomegranate and blueberry compote, white chocolate biscotti and sour cream ice cream. He didn't like this either and neither did I. The lemon curd had NO sugar at all - very tart, the blueberries didn't "go" and the sour cream ice-cream was definitely sour!!!! He was really disappointed!! I am a chocoholic and went with the Tanzanian Chocolate Cheesecake with chocolate ganache, Amarula sauce, and lavender ice cream. The ice cream tasted like mushed up flowers, the chocolate cheesecake was very bitter and warm, and the sauce tasted like alcohol.... YUCK!!!!! This was the worst dessert I have ever eaten!!!! I was so disappointed in this meal, sooooo disappointed..... DH and I will not return here. It's not worth the 2 credit in our opinion. I did love my filet, but other than that the meal was terrible. Maybe I just had too high expectations, or maybe it was just an off night :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 The main problem was the spices - food was WAY too spicy and had very odd flavors... Oh well, maybe DH and I just need normal food and can't expand our horizons THAT much ;)

oh no, sorry you didn't enjoy your dinner at jiko. I don't think I will be in a hurry to try that one. Even if it was an off night there are so many more signature restaurants that I want to try; jiko is toward the bottom of that list. I will stick with Boma. thanks for sharing.

Sorry about your dinner. I am glad I changed my mind and will now be skipping Jiko!

Maybe Jiko is for some people, but it certainly just isn't for DH and me :confused3

Boma is WONDERFUL - DH and I both totally enjoyed it for breakfast and for lunch!! I highly recommend Boma!!! As for signature restaurants - I recommend California Grill, Narcoosses, and Citrico's - all three of those were wonderful!!!

Sorry about your dinner. I am glad I changed my mind and will now be skipping Jiko!

Glad you are saving your two credits (if on dining plan) or you money for elsewhere!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we do not have a little surprise on the way.

Honeymoon installment to come later this evening!!

Sorry your not pregnant. However I do have to say, you should wait awhile. I was 21 when I got married and wanted to have my 1st child at about age 25 that way I would have time to enjoy being married. Well, I actually had to wait 3 more yrs before my wish came true. I was 28 going on 29. But that's OK, I wouldn't change it for the world.

Great TR by the way!

Thanks, but it's fine - we aren't disappointed or anything - it will happen when the time is right. I respect the fact that you think we should wait, but due to my health issues that really isn't in our best interest :)

Glad you are joining in on our TR fun!!! Welcome!!!

Got anymore updates for us? How's the baby "planning" going?

I'm a picky eater, but I thought Jiko was okay. I honestly can't remember what I ate there now. Lol. It was several months ago though. I don't think we'll go back though. There are to many other places to try out and other places that we LOVE. Especially for it taking to ts credits per person. Hope to hear more soon. :goodvibes

hi! I've been lurking for a while and figured I would finally join in. Can't wait to read some more!!

I have a question about DxDDP. We are doing this in September for (free dining) so we are getting a really good deal on it but did you guys use all of your credits. I am worried in the 5 days we are there we will not use all of the credits and it will be a waste of money. :confused3 Any insight is oh so helpful. Thanks!

Your going in the fall? Oh my goodness I am so jealous! I love the tickers though! I can't wait for my disney cruise honeymoon this summer! 92 days and counting. :goodvibes

I would choose ANY 2TS place over Jiko... that's just me.... I'm glad you enjoyed your meal!!!!!

Hello and WELCOME aboard!!!!!!!

I have a question about DxDDP. We are doing this in September for (free dining) so we are getting a really good deal on it but did you guys use all of your credits. I am worried in the 5 days we are there we will not use all of the credits and it will be a waste of money. :confused3 Any insight is oh so helpful. Thanks!

We used every single one of our credits and I seriously could have used more snack credits :rotfl: I could have eaten a dole whip a day!!!!! I say you definintely have nothing to worry about especailly since you got a great deal!!! (FYI - as you see my new ticker - hubby just surprised me with a "lets go to WDW in September"!!!!! AHHH I'm so excited!!!!!) We did do quite a few 2TS restaurants though, which meant we only had 2 meals a day, so maybe that's why we used all of our credits :confused3 Stay tuned to my TR for all of my dining plans and that will give you a better idea - I PROMISE I'll be done by September....i know I'm a little slow....

YES!!!! I still can't believe we are going - I'm holding my breath though because since we are sharing the cost with my friend we have to wait to Monday to book so that I can get her share of the deposit - I'm just hoping there's rooms still available!!! You are going to have such a great honeymoon!!! It's getting close!!!!

Exciting! I am so glad for you. What days will you be there? We're going September 8-13. We're going with my dad and his girlfriend. Can't wait for your next installment

Hey guys!!!! About two months or so ago I casually mentioned to DH that there would probably be free dining in September and he basically told me NO WAY - that we were already going back in March 2009 and spending over 4K - so I just dropped it. Then all of a sudden last night we were sitting on the couch and he just all of a sudden told me he knew I liked going to Disney for 7 nights, but would a long weekend trip be ok with me? I was like HECK YES - WHAT KINDA QUESTION IS THAT?!?!?!? He went on to tell me that we should go in September during free dining but that we would have to get base tickets and stay at a value and probably drive since it's only 5 months away and we haven't saved at all - being newlyweds we can't just pull $1000 out of our pockets!!! I totally agreed!!!! I even asked him about one of my really good friends coming along and we could split the cost - and he agreed. My friend is going with us - she is 20 also and has never been and she's so excited!!! I called Disney last night and all of the rooms allowed for free dining were sold out at POP and ASMo, but the CM said there was availability at ASMu. We have our money together now for the deposit and I'm calling monday to book!!! Just pray that there are still rooms available!!!! We will be going from September 18th - 21st!!!!!

So I just got back home from a GREAT day with my mom!!!! We went to see Disney Princess Wishes on Ice and it was so amazing!!!!! We got 3rd row seats - front and center!!! Mulan, Ariel, Jasmine, Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty were there along with Goofy, Tink, Mickey & Minnie!! It was so beautiful!!! The show lasted 2 hours and it was magical from start to finish!!! I actually teared up a few times!! Tink had her magic wand and sprinkled Pixie Dust on all the people in the first few rows (including us!!!) and all over the ice. Mickey and Minnie hosted the show and goofy helped to entertain the crowd during set change and intermission. It was so great and I plan on catching Nemo on Ice when it comes into town!!! If you have the opportunity to see this - don't hesitate!!!!

I will have a trip update coming tomorrow - stay tuned popcorn::

Looking forward to the update!! Have you looked into possibly getting an Annual Pass? Since you are taking two trips within a year's time it may be something to consider. Also, you can use your voucher before you get the actual AP to get some sweet room discounts, as well as discounts on tours, shopping, etc.

We are taking two trips within a year (Oct 2008 & May 2009) and we found it will actually save us money buying the AP. :)

I'm glad you and DH and your friend get to go in September for free dining! DH and I are going Sept. 8-13 and booked tonight online, the only reason we could book now was because our old apartment complex sent us our refund from moving out and that covered the deposit. My dad and his g/f are going with us and she has never been so I am excited to show her around. We're staying at Pop and I think we picked the right dates to go because there were at least the two rooms we needed available at Pop still, thank goodness.

We had considered that but DH doesn't agree it's the better deal... I have compared it for him, but he just doesn't see it.... Maybe I'll convince him though!!! I sure hope so!!

Can't wait for the update and your day sounds great. Good luck booking on monday!:goodvibes

Thanks so much - I really hope there's still availability!!
