Church Clothing -Read post 13-

I think it is inappropiate to wear jeans on easter. It made me mad. Our preacher is usually clean shaven but he didn't shave for easter. He had stubble. I thought it wasn't appropriate..

You show respect for yourself, others, and God when you dress nicely and appropriately. By just dressing in jeans, etc. it's like saying you don't care. It's not that God won't love you if you don't wear nice clothes, it's just a way to show your respect for him. :)

yea on easter I kind of wore sweats and a nice shirt.

But i was wearing a robe cuz i was one of those pastor helper people

and I'm sick and could barely sit up straight so my parents kind of let that pass....

I don't see how in any way wearing jeans is disrespectful. You're fully covered, what's it matter? If we went to church still, [[we moved]] we'd definitely find one that lets you wear jeans, shorts, etc. Hell, our last church didn't even mind if you wore hats. They just wanted you to be comfortable, as it should be. As long as you are worshipping god, what's it matter what you wear?

I think it's just out of respect.

I think jeans and tshirts are okay most of the time. I just feel that on special occasions(easter, Christmas, etc) that people should dress up..

Ok..Heres what people weren't getting on this thread...

I didnt say anything about God not loving you if you wear jeans. I was stateing that since it is a holiday, we should dress up. Such as not showing cleavage, midreff, wearing short shorts ext....

I agree completely! I didn't mean anything like that, if you were refering to me! I just think that wearing jeans and a NICE shirt would be ok, even on a holiday. I personally get your point Kim! Wearing clothes that shows a lot is wrong anytime! Especially in God's home! :goodvibes Everyone understand!?

Please don't curse. I agree with your point, I wear jeans, but not jeans with huge holes in them. :goodvibes

Oh, honestly. How rude some people are these days.

I just got back from Italy, and this thread intrigued me, as I actually went to the Easter Vigil mass at St. Peter's Basicalla in the Vatican. The Pope actually said the mass. (I didn't understand a word of it since it was in Italian and Latin, but hey, it's the Pope. lol)

I wore dressy khaki pants and a nice 3/4 sleeve polo.

As we were waiting on the line to get it (omg was there alot of people...), I noticed SO many people wearing jeans and sweats. Ok, there were plenty of women wearing jeans, a nice top, and heels, which is perfectly fine, but alot were wearing jeans, flip flops, and a sweatshirt. I have to admit that I've done that before at my church at home, but this is totally different. This was Easter Vigil at the Vatican. The POPE was saying Mass. hello? Sweats and flip-flops aren't the proper atire.

I would rather just be comfortable..I personally believe that wearing not enough is bad, but wearing jeans to church is fine! I mean the pope is the pope, but god is god.

True. I just think you should look nice on big Holy Days like Easter. I mean, would you wear jeans to something like a wedding?

Maybe... :rotfl:

Oh. I just realized there was a huge typo in there. I meant it was inappropriate for the preacher to have stubble. Especially since he never has it any other time.
