Hey folks hope I am putting this in the right spot,

Alright I need some advice people,
I am not going to lie I am a hefty guy not one of you skinny minis!
I am 6'0 should I go out for a character audition, or should I not waist my time.
I did a year of show choir so I have a little dance experience, I like to think I have a big personality and I can be very animated. I just think I might be turned down because of my weight. Any Advice?

Thank you everyone for your time.

You can't win if you don't play.

I don't know what the height and weight requirements for various characters are but I know there are some (Mickey and Donald have to be pretty short for example). Maybe you can check with Disney ahead of time to see what the limits are for character performers.

With characters of all shapes and sizes I can't help but think there would be a place for you somewhere so long as you're fit enough to do the job, and of course are chosen for your talent.

I think Disney would be a great place to audition if you are a little more than normal size, in addition to the great charecters Robo has posted we have noticed that even in some of the stage shows some of the performers are not 'hollywood skinny'. Good luck.

I familiar with the character auditions. Go and bring all your personality. You never know what they are looking for during that specific audition. You may be perfect for a character and not choose you because that is not what they are filling that week. If you are not chosen then try again when the window opens up. One thing for sure, if they put you in fur character during the summer months, you won't be "fluffy" any more. I have seen character performers drop 20 lbs or more during the hot months. Good Luck!

Thanks folks after reading all of this I feel like I have gotten a pep talk! my audition is today I am going to go and bring my A Game! :D

Several of the characters in those 'Streetsmosphere' shows in DHS aren't exactly svelt nor classically handsome.

Being Equity actors, they'd likely have different auditions from costumed characters though.

Thanks for all the well wishes! I got cut after the first round! :O oh well Ill try again in 6 months! in the mean time id love to be a character attendant, how would I go about becoming one?

My daughter (CM) has seen many disappointed girls who did not get a role as a princess. They assume that because they are petite, have taken dance their whole life, and have been called "princess" since they were babies, that they will automatically get in. The problem is they are too small (thinking they are a princess is a whole 'nother problem ;) -haha). She said the height and weight requirements are actually quite a bit higher than you'd expect - these kids have to be sturdy enough to wear a heavy costume through extreme heat without passing out. So don't assume you are too big for a role - you never know until you actually find out their requirements.

I think you just apply to be a regular CM and once hired put in for the job.

Hopefully you got some good feedback on what you can work on for next time. Don't give up!
