so what is everyone planning to do over the winter break?

we are leaving this Friday for a week in CA! spending the weekend in DLR with Cheryl and Rachel....can't wait! then up to Modesto until the 23rd visiting our friends!

Christmas eve at my house....yes I'm crazy!
cast of characters....me, megan, mom, jeff, kristi, max, joe, buffy and zach...later that night my cousin and his family will stop by, will be a very full and noisy house :lmao:
have all morning to prep and set the table, Megan will help and my mom will be coming early with the ham and some fresh stuff so I don't have to go to the store. and most will just need to be warmed up or nuked in the mirco!

we will all meet at church at 5:00, then home for dinner:

Ham
roasted red potatoes
brussel sprouts
carrots
rolls
olives
fruit salad with whip cream - was my Jim's favorite
apple pie
christmas cookies and treats

clean up
open presents
clean up again
bed

Christmas morning - will make scrambled eggs, ham, fruit and english muffins for breakfast....do Santa gifts....Jeff, Kristi and Max will head home
head to BIL house around 2 for dinner and gifts there with Jim's side of family

26th - I'M DOING NOTHING!!!!!!!! but will still have to unpack and laundry from trip at this point, will see what gets done :rotfl2:

27th - Rachal (johnsonslovedisney) and her kids are coming up for the day! hitting the mall, lunch and then to our place before they head home!

28th - 30th nothing planned as of yet - might have one of megan's friend over or meet up somewhere. maybe a movie somewhere in there...maybe a PJ Day!! :confused3

NYE - going to my friends house for dinner and small party with the kids! will probably be home by 10...don't want to be out late with all the drunks :scared1:

1st - 2nd nothing planned

3rd Megan goes back to school!

Packed break or what!!

I still have another week at work, but have to take 20th off to take DS(18) to a Uni audition in Chichester. 23rd the office is closed so I get my groceries delivered and get sorted before....

Christmas eve -MIL coming over for lunch, family presents (its the Hungarian way)

Christmas Day - am Mass, then over to DSis - cast me, Andy, Joe, Kicks, Su, Sean, Rob, Toria, Ed, Jono, Mum, Aunt, Brenda (DSis MIL) lunch (turkey + trimmings, roast and boiled potatoes, gratin cauliflower and broccoli, choice of desserts - Christmas pudding, mince pies, apple tart), presents, tea (if we've any room - cheese, crackers, smoked salmon, nibbles, christmas cake, other cake, more mince pies), home

Boxing Day - drop kids at DSIS and go to pub with DH, DBil, Brenda, possibly DBil's BIL. Back to DSis for lunch (some sort of stew/casserole like boeuf bourgignon, jacket potatoes, veg, salmon as alternative, then assortment of desserts left from day before plus possibly something else), afternoon playing silly games (adults - the kids will probably be all hooked up to electronic devices!) tea (as before, plus maybe a few hot dishes like pizza), home

27 - quiet family day
28 - DH working, I'll prepare for...

29th - friends coming over for early evening buffet and general chitchat

rest of the break - nothing planned. May go to the sales on Jan 1 as we often find everyone is still asleep so its not too manic! (We don't stay up for midnight) Of course DS(18) may have loads of other plans, but he also needs to learn some pieces for further auditions, plus preparation for some exam modules.

Back to work/school on 4th Jan (DH goes back on 3rd)

Sounds like fun! Enjoy your break :)

December 16-25 Rachel and I will be enjoying Disneyland :banana::banana:

December 25 evening--open family gifts; the girls and I have stocking stuffers only due to our trips being our Christmas gifts :santa:

After that not sure, have to visit with both sets of grandparents and other family, but , it isn't arranged yet.

New Year's Eve will be watching a movie at home.

Not much planned:

24th - DH will do his shopping
25th - Breakfast here and gifts with my parents. My brother and SIL might come if they have their Foster kid with them (Watching her on weekends because the foster parents bio-son was in a terrible car accident so they spend weekends with him)
Then to Massachusetts to see my dad's side of the family
26 - 2 DS15 has practice every day
28th - DS15 has a meet in New Haven (all day event)
somewhere in there we might take the kids to door number 3(NYC) we gave them the option of the big family party or door #3, but didn't tell them what door #3 was. LOL We are planning a quick 2-3 day trip in the city.
Jan 1- Stay home. It's amateur night so all the stupid drunks that never drink any other time of year will be out.

I'm just trying to get to Thursday 3:00 - then I'm off work for a month
Christmas day I think is at parents house
planned on going to visit some Christmas lights that is about it

I know my plans will be ironed out later tonight.
I know the 18th my family is coming up to celebrate Christmas here. We are just doing sandwiches and such.
I know DD works the 19 - 23. She is off the following week. (may have side jobs with some of the families though).
DS15 has basketball practice every day and 3 games over break. (only days off are Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
I think the 21st we are doing Christmas at the zoo with our adopted Uncles (DH's coworker & partner who love to hang out with us)
Christmas Eve will be our big dinner like always...
Christmas Day will be just the 5 of us and later in the day the boys will come over
FIL will come over at some point.
NYE we will do our traditional events. We don't ever go out due to individuals who get behind the wheel when they shouldn't..happens every night but this one is a kicker.

The kids return to school on the 2nd!!
We will definitely be watching our football games, movies, making cookies, fudge, candies, etc.

looks like everyone has a busy break!

Cheryl - don't you mean the 16th - 25th!!!

We leave on Thursday for FL and we'll be there until the 27th. On the agenda is WDW, Universal (DH's first time) and LEGOLAND. My Mom will have to work Christmas, so I'm not sure what we will be doing that day. She should have the early morning shift, and be home by 1 though.

Unfortunately, tomorrow will start with the plumber coming, because in my hurried cleaning frenzy, I managed to knock the toilet hard enough that it shifted enough to break the seal and so now it's a bit leaky when you flush.

After we get home, I think the plan is to just watch bowl games.

15th- Church Christmas party for me, DH is working that evening
16th- Preschool Christmas Program- my parents may arrive late otherwise in the morning
17th- Caroling Hayride/Dinner/Movie at church
18th- Services and another Church Christmas party
19th-20th- mom and dad here- sometime in here we will have out Christmas gift exchange and open stockings
21st- meet family at AK for a Christmas day trip/ mom and dad head to DB house after a day at the park, end with youth Christmas party when we arrive home
22nd-23rd- quiet days here- I think DH is working so I will be home with the dogs
24th- Beef Stew for dinner (family tradition plus really easy for between services)- 2 services
25th- service, open a gift or 2 (most will be done earlier), dinner at a friends
26-27- down days- begin working on massive clean out and trash dump
28th- youth trip to Christmas circus spectacular
29-30- work on clean out
31st- service
1st- service and back to normal schedules

Rebecca

Rebecca, I think you get the prize for the busiest schedule !!

Rebecca, I think you get the prize for the busiest schedule !!

I think that is part of being a pastor (or his wife) everyone wants you at every party so you get invited to join with every group in the church and if you don't go someone feels slighted.

DS moves out of his dorm today so he'll be living at home for about 3 weeks!

Except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and my normal days off, I'll be working the rest of the time. I took time off last Christmas so I'm letting others have a turn this year, plus my weekend off is Christmas weekend so I'm happy there! The store gets crazier every day. But, the less creative people are now coming out trying to figure out how to make things and I'm enjoying coming up with creative ideas for them and helping them find the supplies they need. The hard part is that you can't walk 2 feet in the store without someone asking for help and I'm not getting anything else done that I'm supposed to be doing! But, I'm giving great customer service!:goodvibes

Christmas Eve will be the three of us and we'll have our big dinner that night and we'll play games, do a craft, and read Christmas stories.

Christmas day we will be going down to my Mom's house.

We usually get together with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law on New Year's Day, but I'm working so I'm not sure how we'll work that out. It may just be DH and DS going down to see them.
