surprise trip for family 12/12-1/1. First 2 nights at Swan to contain costs. Last 2 nights at GF. Big $ ! Has anyone ever been able to get a discount on site during this period? Gotta pay to play, but would love to save a few $. THANKS

The only general public discount that you are likely to receive is free dining, which you arrive just in time for: You need to check in by the 15th.

As Disney is not even offering room discounts for October, I certainly would be shocked to see any room discounts around the Christmas holiday.

I did get a 40% off room only discount in 2009. It was good from June -Dec. 31 with no black out dates so we went Christmas week. I did not get an email or postcard for this, just called and asked if I had any pin codes. There was no name for it and I only found 2 other people on the Disboards that got this, so it was rare. So, I suggest calling and asking.

So far for Christmas/New Years of this year WDW hasn't announced any new room only public discounts.

The only thing I have seen is Annual Pass room only discounts for those who have them, however those rates go from October 3rd - December 24th.

So even if there was a room only public discount chances are it will either end on December 23rd which was the date from the room only discount that was offered last year at that time or on December 24th.

This is Disney's busiest week of the year. I wouldn't count on any type of discount. There is no need to discount if they can fill the rooms at rack rate. If they black out other dates for discounts because of the busy time, then Christmas week is more likely to be blacked out for all discounts.

See you there! 12/24-12/30. We choose a Value resort in an attempt to keep it affordable. I don't forsee any discounts!

we did christmas week 2 years ago- stayed at Swan to keep costs in check. we have stayed at GF many times over the years and thought it would be great over New Years. Im still trying to put my hands around the $705/night before taxes garden view rack rate.

We are booked for 12/19-12/24 with a 40% pin code I received back in January, which was good for most of this year through 12/23. But as others have said, chances of getting a discount between Christmas and New Years is highly unlikely. Christmas week is the busiest time of the year at Disney so discounts usually aren't offered during that week. I'm not saying it won't happen, but if occupancy is up for that week, Disney will have no need to offer discounts. But don't give up hope as anything is possible :wizard:.

We have gone the past two Christmas weeks and had found a TA that offered a private discount, I think it was 30% off the room and a slight discount on park tickets. I went to book the same thing this year and they aren't offering it! So disappointed! We are currently booked at the Coronado from 12/27-Jan 1 rack rate, I would LOVE a discount.

Over $700/night? For that kind of money, I'd expect a butler! lol

Do you remember what the price was at the Swan? Was it a special holiday deal, or just rack rate?
