Christmas Shopping 2010

I was researching the Kindle and came across the Pandigital Novel 7" Color Multimedia eReader does anyone have any info or opinions on it?

I ordered a week or so ago and I LOVE it. Its so great. I have wifi, so I can check e mail and Facebook with a push of a button. The colors are beautiful, and oh, the whole e reader of its pretty cool too! lol It comes with a stand because you can download pics to it and make it a digital picture frame. Wel worth the money and it is Barnes and Noble Compatible. LOVE IT!!!!:rotfl:

Kids just got Moon dough. Circus Peanuts for sure! (and I can't believe I ever ate something that consistancy lol) and they like it ok. You can mix colors like play doh. Not bad.

Ed, thanks for the heads up on the Nook. Just ordered it for hubby and can't wait to give it to him for Christmas. He is a huge reader and travels a lot, so this is soooo perfect for him.

49 days left people!!!! AHHHHH:scared1:

We do what we can :)

Did you see that new Razor Go Kart hybrid thing? That might be a good middle of the road arrangement for you guys?

Razor Electric-Powered Ground Force Drifter Ride-On

I SO want that. I'm not so sure I would fit, but I sure as heck would at least try.

Hmm. I hadn't seen those. When checking it out on Walmart's site it also showed a "dune buggy" version that will go over "rougher" terrain. I'm wondering if that might be an option. I'd rather have him tooling around the back yard than our street even though we DO near the end of a cul de sac. I'm not sure he is big enough to work it. He is the size of a large four year old/ small to average five year old...I guess the only way to know would be to find one in a store and let him sit in it. I wouldn't want to buy only to find out he was dwarfed by it and couldn't operate it.

49 days left people!!!! AHHHHH:scared1:

 I didn't need to know how many days are left LOL That is not enough and I'm nearly DONE!! Time to take a chill pill.

That's crazy!

I went to look to see if they had any online at Walgreens that could be tracked, but, maybe they are in store only? Looks that way for now at least.

OH!

Nook and ebook reader people... There is a blow out on Ebay right now for the original nook!!

$99 bucks!!! Really!!!

It's even from B&N too. Just refurbished.

So... Enjoy!

And my little veggiemom helper is all done with the pop on pals. Came out cute!

ED! STOP with the great suggestions! LOL DH has been wanting a Kindle or a Nook. Is this worth it? He always wants the latest and greatest but wondering if he would be happy with this over not getting one at all... Does this one get wi-fi or come with any books?

DS11 likes the smaller Lego Star Wars sets he's gotten. I thought of suggesting the larger ones to grandmothers but I need some input - those whose kids have these and play with them. Do they leave them up all the time? Do they have different containers to store the different sets if they take them apart? Is it any fun once you've put it together or is it just in the building? He just says he enjoyed building the little podracer or whatever it is. One year when our boys were fairly small FIL gave them a Lego Pirate Ship. It was HUGE and all the men tried to put it together. By noon on Christmas day FIL, BIL, and DH weren't speaking and the pieces of the Pirate ship had been thrown in the trash. So my experience with Legos is a bit negative  I have two cousins who grew up getting several Lego sets each Christmas and playing with them all the time though so I know there has to be some entertainment.

Whatever you do, KEEP the original Lego box if you end up putting the sets and instructions in separate containers. For the smaller sets we usually put the pieces in ziploc bags then back into the box. For the larger ones we can put them in ziploc bags (may take several) back in the original boxes or in containers with lids with the instructions. NEVER mix the pieces - you will never get them unmixed again. :sad2: Trust me on that one.

When the time comes to resell the sets then having the instruction packet and the original box will up your price significantly and you will recoup a good bit of your investment. :thumbsup2

Our Legos always use to get mixed up so they decided they didn't want them and gave them away. That's why this year I only got them one set each. Knowing them they'll mix up when they are done anyway. :lmao:

I should seriously put up a Christmas countdown because I had no idea there were less than 50 days until Christmas.

Ebay has it on every page! 49 days. ACK! :scared1:

Ed - I ordered the Nook. Sounds like a great deal and DH won't be expecting it. Thanks for the tip.

I need to stay away from this thread!

49 days and I stil don't have a plan. Kinda freaking out. Usually, I am nearly done at this point. This year, nowhere near it. I have picked up the big gift, the Xbox Kinnect. All three kids wanted this so it will be a joint gift for the family. I also plan to get each of them a kinnect game, just not sure which ones. Hoping to find some good deals on video games.
So far, dd 17 has a set of books she wanted, a dvd, and a bracelet.
DD13 has a set of books she asked for, a couple of dvds, and that is it.
DS7 has the toy story dvd bluray pack and a set of star wars books he asked for.
I would like to get my 13 year old a nice, yet not to costly, piece of jewelry. Any suggestions? For my son, I have not got a clue. He wants nothing. He is happy with everything. I would like to get him a gift that is not video game related, maybe something that inspires creativity. Would love to hear others suggestions.
Also need suggestions for preschool age kids, because I have several neices and nephews in the age range of 1-5. Thanks.

Just because I'm a curious sort... which set of Star Wars books did you get him? :)

As far as the gift questions...maybe a birthstone ring for your DD13? Those are kind of big with girls here and you can get them for around $50 at Walmart. I'm sure you can get them at jewelers, not sure on the cost but they should have something comparable.

For your son - what about checking out a Michaels? I got DS11 a package where you can create your own Shrinky Dinks. He likes to draw and the Shrinky Dinks bring back a bit of nostalgia for me. I think he'll like the whole shrinking thing. I also got him a calligraphy set, he is pretty good with artsy type stuff and I know at school we are always looking for someone who can do calligraphy to fill out those graduation certificates and such. I thought it might give him a way to contribute if he can learn it. A camera? I'd love to get DS a decent camera or give him mine if I find a new one. He is an excellent photographer and I want to encourage that.

I've had a good week! Thursday I ran to Walmart while my dd was at Girl Scouts. I already had oven mitts and some spatulas for my mom, both of which she needed, but I bought a really cheap mixing bowl and filled it in with baking supplies from the grocery section. It looks great. On my way out I found the Unicorn Pillow Pet! I was so excited. I bought one for my dd last month and have been kicking myself for not buying one for my niece as well. So I was seriously super excited to find another one!

I had a pretty good day today, too. Stopped at World Marketplace, where I assembled a "sushi" set for my teenage, sushi loving, son. I packed all the "stuff" in a small cheap wok - ginger, wasabi, seaweed, soy sauce, chop sticks, and a sushi rolling mat. I plan to get him a sushi cookbook as well.

I also ordered a Paraffin Wax bath for my sister, upon her request. I'm sure she wants a $200 professional but after quite a bit of research, I ordered the Dr Scholls one from Walmart for $29.77 which actually had pretty good reviews. I'm going to get some wax refills and maybe some booties to go with it as well.

I'm glad to be getting things checked off my list!

Well...our new AG girl (Lanie) came in yesterday!! & I was successfull in hiding her before DD noticed a big box at the door!!! Ha!So...just have to sit down and decide what stuff is going to be needed for Stocking stuffers-maybe a couple of Wii/DS games...one or two little gifts left for each kid..and their books...I always do books...DD just started reading the Ivy & Bean books (first 'set' she has pickedup and took off reading alone!!!:goodvibes), so I want to get her more of those!!!! That is what I am most excited about this weekend!! reading is a big deal around here, so, I am thankful that she is to the stage of more fluency--it's been hard to see her trying to get past that stumbling phase when her brothers are such good readers.Of course, they went thru it too, but she doesnt remember that!:cutie: So, I am excited for her!

Well, if anyone happens to know where I can get a Stretch Armstrong doll for under $50 - please let me know. I have seen some of them go up to over $4500!!!

Went shopping with my girls yesterday (17, 14) and bought them jeans but wont give them to them til Christmas. The younger one said thanks, and then it hit me that tho oldest one doesnt appreciate anything I do for her...........so why should I bust my tail trying to make Christmas special? Part of me understands its just teenagers, but she is so ungrateful. The part that kills me is that I cant do more for her other sister than for her.

Well my Elizabeth and Lanie dolls arrived from AG and they are beautiful! My youngest will be so thrilled! And after careful consideration I have decided against the eReaders altogether for my DD10 and DD11-I just let them go head and download the Nook application to their laptops and see how they like that first. I am afraid they would break them, lose them or lose interest in them and that is a lot of money for that. So now to start shopping for the other items on their list. Need to find a nice MP3 player for my DD11 now.

Hey ED!!! I missed the Nook 99.00 deal.....was waiting till this morning to ask my Dh about getting it for his 19 year old dd and they were gone! LOL Do you know of anywhere else? Anyone know of a good deal coming up on BF?
What is the Nook download for the computor? Is it free?
I'm also in need of a Cricut or Silhoute (sp) for a really good price if anyone knows of a sale coming up on those:goodvibes
Keep up folks and you'll have done all my shopping for me!;):thumbsup2

I have 2 sons, 11 and 8. Usually Santa doesn't even have to separate whose gifts are whose. Santa just sets them out and lets them go for it. They rarely have a toy/game that they don't consider sharing. A stuffed animal or clothes, but if it is child specific Santa puts their name on it. Last year was the first time Santa wrapped anything, and that was just to slow them down :)

Hubby and I will give them XBox 250g with Kinect and an extra controller. We will add a few of the following things from us too, not sure how to divide it yet though. Santa does the most stuff, but we take credit for the BIGGEST THINGS.

Santa will probably get credit for the rest: (yes, the 11 year old knows the truth
Wii Kirby Epic Yarn
XBox Halo Reach
XBox Star Wars Force Unleashed II
XBox ToyStory 3
XBox My Sims Sky Heroes
XBox Fifa Soccer 11

ToyStory 3 DVD
Modern Family Season 1 DVD set

Each $50.00 iTunes card (Yesterdays Walmart deal for $35.00 each)

Story Cubes
Ubuild Monopoly
Star Wars Markers-each kiddo ($1.00 from target)
Alien Notepad-each kiddo ($1.00 from target)
plain Ping Pong balls-my oldest wants to make his own Ki-Pong game
Sing-a-ma-jig for each kiddo
Large Lego Star wars set from Costco ( I don't remember what it is though)
KNex Rollercoaster

Books:
Star Wars Force Unleashed
101 Freaky Animals
Star Wars Character Encyclopedia
each a booklight and bookmark

I also have a Dr. Pepper shirt and Mt Dew shirt for oldest. Need to find something comparable for youngest.

Still need to get a peguin and panda pillow pet
and I want to get Night Vision Goggles for each of them.
I'm sure I will have a few impulse buys along the way too.:rolleyes1

The thing is that as they get older they want more expensive things, so fewer items. That's fine for the one that knows who Santa really is, but I feel like the younger one wants the magic of all the stuff too. I'm trying to make it all stuff that matters this year rather that just a bunch of junk laying around just to fill up the room.

Any suggestions on a spy kit?

DS9 wants spy gear really bad, but I don't want to get "junky" spy gear but also don't want to break the bank....suggestions?

The Nook download for the PC is free but you still have to pay for your eBooks and stuff like that!

In the past there have been some very good deals on the Cricut on Black Friday. I think ACMoore had a pretty good bundle deal last week, I looked for the flyer but I don't have it anymore. I would keep checking the flyers for ACMoore, Hobby Lobby and Michaels.

I got my ds the air hogs helicopter with the camera (not really spy gear I know) and now I'm thinking I may return it for the watch that is a camera, he mentioned that he thought it was really cool. I hate to get it and it be junk, it seems like every spy gear/equipment thing that we already own is.

I thought I was done but realized I am one short for my youngest, I think I'm going to get him the paper jams drum set tomorrow and then I'll be completely done with my kids.

Last year my DS bought a set at Walmart, we think the brand was Spy Gear. It had a dart gun thing that went around his wrist and a couple other accessories. He loves it and still plays with it, it's held up well. HTH, I'm sorry I can't remember more details.
