Christmas Shopping '09

I saw a cute thing yesterday in a Pampered Chef cookbook with rice crispy treats.

They made them into balls(Ornaments) So they used 2 colors to make the balls look like an ornament- stuck some sprinkles in a band around the ball. then a gummy lifesaver and a piece of licorice snipped to be the loop-

Does that make sense? They really looked cute and so easy to do.

I so far have gotten mostly for my 12 year old daughter- the 3 boys not so much> (She's more fun to shop for)
But I have to get on the ball. I have a few legos stored away oh and the Eyeclops night vision binoculars. But I need to really power shop!

Can I join? haha ...fun thread....!!

DH travels alot so I use his Holiday Inn points to get gift cards for Target, Sears, Kohls and in turn use those to do most of my shopping for Christmas. We also used the points to get my parents an "any time any hotel" gift card to be used at any hotel that takes American Express. It comes in handy when they drive up here to visit.

We used his Hampton Inn points to get his brother some some g/c's for Red Lobster and Outback.

My gift cards all came today  so of course I had to run out and shop right away to add to what I had already picked up .

So far this is what I have:

DD16 footbath/massager (useful after volleyball) a hard case wallet, a zunepass (for zune marketplace)

DD10 zhuzhu pet/ accessory/funhouse, glow in the dark puzzle, easy bake oven, 7 in 1 science kit, rollerblades, tini puppini (on clearance at WM for $5 normally $25!!) a sound spa machine and a phineas and ferb CD

DS8 zhu zhu pet./accessory/house , Indiana Jones Wii game, Lego Battles DS game, erector set, plug and play Star Wars game, nutcracker, micro mario kart remote control car..

Still need to get them all Vikings sweatshirts, a couple more things for the younger 2 and some more stuff for DD16..

Even though you're from Wisconsin, I say you can join!! Especially since you're a Vikings fan and live so close to me!!
I'm just over the St. Croix river in Oakdale. Do you come to MN much or work in MN? I go to Hudson occasionally to eat or visit friends.

Of course!! :welcome: to our thread!!!!! Sounds like you have lots accomplished!! Way to Go!!!!!

Sheree~ I think an RC with Buzz & Woody!!! ha!!!!! Just Kidding!! That does sound like a fun gift...I know Mike bought the boys one a few years back and he played with it alllll the time!!!! Those little things can get expensive!!!!

Well, I bought dh his first Christmas gift yesterday.... a Fossil watch with a band that changes ...you can do brown or black. It's really cool! I love it! Also, bought my son a really neat shirt from the same store...so I think his bday is covered!! Of course, I may save the shirt for his Christmas, I did get him some new books for his bday...he will be able to read them on the plane the next day..if he likes them I will finish the series for his Christmas!!!!!:yay:

Okie dokie ladies...guess what?!!!

:santa:6 WEEKS:santa:!!!

And Thanksgiving is of course 2 WEEKS from yesterday!!

This weekend is a great time to get that baking/cooking stuff bought and put up....it's only gonna get crazier and crazier!!! HeHe! Christmas shopping too...I am gonna go over my food list today and tomorrow and make sure I have all I need that can be bought early. My kids had told me that they didn't want presents under the tree until closer to the Big Day...well, last night they told me they had changed their minds and reaaalllly wanted me to go ahead and put their stuff under there now!!!!:rotfl: I knew that tree with no gifts under it would drive them nuts!!!! DD is going to play at a friends houe tomorrow for a while, and dh will take the boys somewhere...AFTER he hangs up lights!! So, I am planning on wrapping tomorrow:woohoo: I love wrapping their stuff...so fun!!!!!! Well...happy Friday and get shopping!!!!! Keep those lists handy and remember to tell us what you are buying!!!!

I usually buy wrapping paper after Christmas on clearance, but since DH lost his job last year just 3 weeks before Christmas, that was put on hold. I would love to start wrapping, but that will have to wait until Black Friday when I can get a deal on paper.

I am almost done. I am still hoping for a deal on Geotraxs to finish DS up.

I want to make some different desserts for Thanksgiving/Christmas. What is everyone else having?

One year I made a marble pumpkin cheesecake instead of pumpkin pie. It had crushed gingersnaps for the crust - I thought it was yummy! But some people are traditionalists. I like it better than pumpkin pie. Oh how about apple crisp? Very fall-ish.

I was just at the grocery store and bought the rest of what I think I need for my baking. My goal is to make at least one kind of cookies for the freezer on Sunday while DH is working at the Vikings game.

HI neighbor! haha My dh works in Woodbury and we are over that way all the time! I was just out that way today actually....I went out to Maplewood Mall for a while to get some things...Sears had all their Lands End 30% off today so I picked up a couple things from DD16 list.

Got the Vikes sweatshirts today for the younger two today at Target for only $20! I personally hate football (should I admit that? ) but the kids are all into the Vikings...we plan on having them wear their shirts to my moms house at Christmas...she is a Packer fan..haha..

Oh my gosh - that's too funny!! I may have to hit Sears tonight - I love Lands End stuff!
My DH sells Vikings stuff at the stadium and I know it's WAY cheaper at Target.
I don't give a hoot about football either - but DH loves it. I prefer hockey and baseball.
I grew up about a mile from Maplewood Mall - that was "My" mall as a teen! Still shop there. We're in Woodbury all the time too - lots of shopping and I have some friends over there. My church and the kids' preschool is in Wdby.
If you don't mind my asking - what does your DH do?

Thanksgiving is at my sis-in-law's this year, so I'm only making one thing. :cool1: I'm making Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake. Far from healthy, but definitely yummy!

I am making turkey cupcakes for thanksgiving-- I got a theme cupcake book from Marshalls. I already made pumpkin cupcakes for halloween, so I decided to make the turkey ones for turkey day.
This is the book: http://chryse1.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/cupcake.jpg
I highly reccomend it!
They will look something like this:

A large cupcake and mini cupcake is used, and a scalloped ginger cookie with candy corn on the frills will be the feathers. I think they're cute!

Those are adorable!

We always host Thanksgiving dinner and in the past I've always been the only one that ends up eating dessert :confused3. So I will make a traditional pumpkin pie for me and a chocolate pie (just jello pudding in a graham cracker crust) for the kids.

I just had to stop and say hi to you. I noticed you on another thread and we both have 5 kids. Just the opposite, though, I have 4 girls and 1 boy. :goodvibes

:wave2: Makes for a busy house and fun holidays, doesn't it?:)

I had to chime in and say how thrilled I am with an awesome deal I got today! I am stuck home all week with the kids (poor ds11 and ds8 have swine flu, but are recovering very well!) and haven't been able to holiday shop or shop for Thanksgiving. I've been getting antsy!:goodvibes

Anyway I saw online that toysrus was selling their Kota the dinosaur for $79 today from 3-11 only! Normally it sells for well over two hundred! I already got ds4 Spike the dinosaur but I had fallen in love with this a few weeks ago, but $290 was way more than I could spend.

So, I called my SIL who picks up my niece from school right by the toysrus and she said she would stop there at 3:30 and get me one if they still had them. I called toysrus and spoke to a salesperson who agreed to hold one for her until 3:30! She said they had five, and she would put one aside at customer service until 4:00. So, SIL swung by and picked it up for me!:worship: I love, love, love my SIL....she is truly my BF!

So, I can't wait until Christmas morning when my sweet baby sees both Spike and Kota under the tree! He is dinosaur obsessed....thanks to Dinosaur Train! And yesterday I ordered all three of my boys the Magformers Todays Special Value from QVC. So, I'm pretty close to being finished! And so thankful for family and strangers who take time to help someone out!

Happy Saturday ladies!!
Those cupcakes do look amazing!! How precious is that?!!
Hope your little chicks get over the swine flu quickly...my son that had it was still really tired for several days after...so just keep that in mind! He felt better...he was just drained!!! Hope those of you who are shopping today have a wonderful day and get just exactly what you are looking for!!

Is anyone else out there feeling this way? Every year around this time, I am well into my Christmas shopping. This year I'm not and I'm starting to get anxious. It's not for lack of trying. I just don't see sales right now on the things that my boys have at the tops of their Christmas lists. I'm so frustrated.....:sad1: Is anyone else feeling frustrated with the lack of sales out there so far? I don't know if I should go ahead and just buy the Legos and Wii games and pay full price for them or just wait and see if there is a sale between now and when we leave for DW and DCL on December 12.:confused3
