Christmas parade taping

Except the tree normally isn't up from the beginning - normally it doesn't go up until after the parade taping, which is normally the first weekend in December. (Yeah, I know, I said "normally" three times. So sue me. ;))

That is not necessarily true.

The REASON that they did not put it up had to do with a parade video shooting situation that did NOT happen last year, and may not happen this year (or ever again.)
Or, it might happen again. We just don't know.

Also, for YEARS, they DID put up the Christmas Tree the first week of November.
But, it was up in the HUB and then MOVED to it's "correct spot" in Town Square after
the parade shooting in MK was concluded.

So, there are a multitude of past situations that can be sited.
Again, we don't know what will happen in 2016... and beyond.

Maybe they no longer need to do the "long" shots and thats why they can keep it up.

I guess we will find out in just under a month.

Huh. I could've sworn I'd always read that the tree wasn't put up at all until after the taping.

Last year's parade portion/production was centered around the massive amount of confetti that was shot out. It took up to an hour, with performers in costumes, to ready the shot and then it was done in one take. Sadly, 2 toy soldiers and 1 reindeer wilted before the shoot. Anyway, with all that confetti, shots were up close or directly overhead.

It was "for years."
But, for years BEFORE that, they put it up in the Hub until later.

And, for that matter, the Christmas Parade USED to be performed LIVE on the air on Christmas day.
They had the MK tree up long before Christmas day back then.

Things change.
And with so much history at WDW it's hard to know the reasons why some things where done...
and when and why they were changed.

In case anyone is wondering as of this morning the tree IS UP at the MK.

The parade isn't being filmed at WDW at all this year, they're only filming at DLA. Stage performances will be filmed at WDW.
