Last year I was one of the 'lucky' people that got the okay to be part of the taping. We signed up on the film company's website...actually sent an email and it was pretty much first come first served. I was there for the early morning taping on Friday morning. The Sat taping is the preferred taping since it has the actual parade. But that day gets booked quickly. As far as doing it with the kids.....sure, go ahead and watch for any info here as far as being part of the crowd scenes. Just understand that it is somewhat boring...you stand around in the same spot while they do multiple 'takes' of the same part of the parade.
I was part of the huge audience in front of the Castle...we all got there at about 7:30, got in shortly thereafter, were sent to the Castle area and just stood around until they started taping at 9:30ish. By 11:30 I had had it...my poor old back and knees just couldn't take it anymore. I did catch myself on the show though. Of course I had to tape it and then replay it about 15 times before I caught that elusive glimpse of 'me' three rows back from the front row!!!
Would I do it again? Nope. And there is no way I would stand there, along Main St. for 3+ hours with my 12 y/o dd.....she has done plenty of stage work and realizes about 'hanging around' but film is even worse!!! I saw plenty of little ones really getting out of sorts and cranky. All they wanted to do was go on the rides. And the park does get a bit zooey that Sat....but once you navigate out of the Main St. area it isn't too bad...just a bit more crowded than a usual Sat.
