Oh dear I must be getting old, this is just a lot of noise. I know there was the campaign for the X Factor song not getting to no.1 but seriously not my cup of tea

No i really don't like it either. If people were so set on not letting the x factor be No1 they could have at least chosen a nice song to back, that one is just plain awful

I Like RATM, I have had their albums for years. Can't believe they are actually number 1 though. I understand that it isn't to everyones taste though, alot of the stuff in the chart at the moment isn't to my taste and goes right over my head.

Well I'm 25 and a bit of a rock chick and I even hate it so there you go. I didn't like Joe's song either but I feel sorry for him being them first x-factor winner to not get a number 1 as the Rage campaign started before the winner or song was even decided. I think its a horrible song to get to number one at a time like christmas and doesn't actually prove anything except that one way or the other the great british music buying public is made up of a bunch of sheep - I hope next year a song that actually deserves to be number one is there for christmas.

However to start a campaign to oust a song off his rightful spot, mob mentality at its best and proves if you get enough people convinced its the right thing anything can happen. Not the rightful Christmas No1 as it would never ever have got there on its own.

Not sure I agree Sue. I can see your point of view, but X Factor (and the songs that come from it) have a huge advantage over anything else released. There are months of shows leading up to the release of the winners song in time for Christmas. This gives enormous publicity and media attention, much more than could ever be gained by any other artist no matter how big they are. I guess what I'm saying is that it's not a level playing field.

Is purchasing RATM mob mentality or a protest vote by those who are fed up with mass produced, manufactured pop dominating the charts? I don't think people needed 'convincing' to download this track, it worked so well because it was a vehicle for many to register a protest. I've yet to hear the RATM song but wanted the Muppets to get to number 1 I don't even bother with the charts these days - not my cup of tea and I find the popular songs get played to death (like Coldplay who I used to enjoy) I'll stick with my CD collection and MP3 player, I can't even listen to Radio 1 for more than a few minutes as I really don't enjoy the music played.

I'm sure the X factor winner (sorry haven't watched it) will get a number one with their next single if it's good enough

Whilst I agree the money for Charity is great, its the way it was done, is what I didnt like, but of course thats just my opinion. In fact I think Im more upset over it than Simon Cowell is, as in his own words the guys that started it were brilliant at what they achieved.

I guess it all depends what your thoughts are on the matter, ok lovely to have the Christmas No1, but I, me personally would like to think that if I was going to buy, download a record it was because I liked it, and not because I was trying to prove a point, maybe Im just getting too old for all the politics, and I quite liked Joes record

I prefer a song that has a message and something to say than a cover from a Hannah Montanah movie which was only out earlier this year.

Joe's version isn't any better than Miley Cyrus version, Miley's was slightly better and people didn't buy hers. People have pre ordered the x factor winners song on amazon before the winner or song was announced.
