DD13 has a HUGE pile of gifts, but DD18 is coming up short. Of course, DD13's gifts are much less expensive!! Still, I'd like a few more packages for DD18 to open. What do your teen daughters like?

She likes to read, watch TV, is a very girly girl, etc. She has most of the teen things - an Ipod, a cell phone, etc. She loves movies - any good ideas that college students could watch and enjoy? They love Grey's Anatomy, and she's getting the 2nd season on DVD from my brother.

They don't have to be big things - anybody come up with a great teen girl idea or two??? Thanks in advance!!!!

maybe an idog for her ipod...I'm 23 and I love mine...its like a mini speaker that dances and lights up to the music.

A gift certificate for a manicure

Target has cute mani/pedi gift sets

Claires has cute cell phone charms

What about an italian charm bracelet (again at claires) then she can customize it with things she likes

as for DVD's Pirates 2, the wedding date, american pie band camp, the wedding crashers, pretty in pink, the breakfast club, breakfast at tiffanys

butterfly chair (awesome for the dorm!)

candles

gift sets from bath and body works

perfume from philosiphy (sephora) hollister, abercrombie

hat and scarf set from hollister/abercrombie/pac sun

In my late teens my best Christmas was when my parents gave me cash. For example I got a calender with 4 $5 taped to the front of it, bath and body with a $20 taped around it. It was great! Then on the 26th I hit all the sales and had a blast.

I have a 19 year old and she and her group love Gilmore Girls - they have GG weekend marathons, she also is getting Grey's Anatomy, getting some fun purses (the Audrey Hepburn one and a Pirates one), hoodies from Hollister, she has a scent she likes at Bath and Body Works and I got her alot of that. Also buys hot chocolate at school every morning so I am giving her a car mug with the correct change for a number of hot chocolates. Scarf and gloves to match her coat....hmmm trying to think here but you get the idea.

I find her very easy to shop for - almost hard to stop shopping for!

One of the problems this year is that DD13 is now a "teen", too. So if I get DD18 something from B&BW (which I will, because she loves it, too) I see something that DD13 would love, and before I know it I have 2 more gifts, but DD18 still has a smaller pile!!! I mean that in a light-hearted way - DD18 is getting a really nice trip in Japan, and she knows it's her BIG Christmas gift. I was just drawing a blank on some smaller things - so keep the good ideas coming!!

Anything she might need for the trip? New luggage or carry on bag, new headphones for her ipod for the trip?

Her dad and stepmom are getting her a new rolling duffle bag, so maybe I will check out some other travel ideas. Her professor emailed me a list, I just now thought of that, so I'll go see what he recommended. I think she has most of it, though.

Thanks for the ideas - keep them coming!!

Hmm maybe ipod accesories, or stuff she can use for college or that. I know I love purses and I'm 20. I like unique purses. Maybe do netflix for her or blockbuster.

The devil wears prada comes out on dvd on tuesday. Also if she likes to read the books in the Confessions of a Shopaholic are really great to read. You can find them at Target. The author is Sophie Kinsella. They are chick lit but clean (no graphic descriptions like in some books...) and fun chick lit in case that makes a difference. Currently there are 4 books in that series with a 5th one due out in Feb. They would be a great read on that flight to Japan. That author also has 2 other books that aren't part of a series but equally good - Can you keep a secret and The undomesticated goddess.

Other ideas include philosophy 3-in-1 shower gels. They are awesome and come in so many different scents. I swear mine last at least 6 months with daily use.

Sephora has quite a few special edition gift sets. There is a Stila lip glaze set which is really nice and I love their lip glaze. Lorac also has a lip polish (basically lip gloss as well) gift set which I bought last year and have enjoyed tremendously. Both have about 6-8 colors for ~$25.

American eagle has some nice cable knit sweaters on sale right now. I just added that to my christmas list this morning and sent it to my mom.

Is she living at home? In a dorm? In an apartment? Would she cook at all or is she trying to learn?? Rachel Ray cookbooks are really simple and make really nice meals. I know not everyone cares for her but her recipes are really good and they are really only 30 mins with minimal ingredients. If you want to check one out look at either the new one which is recipes which you can adapt to cook for as many people as you want and also the 365 no repeats which basically shows you how you can change "master" recipes by adding or subtracting one or two ingredients and get a completely different meal.

I could go on and on but I'll spare you :)

My 19 year old neice asked for Victoria Secret "Pink" sweats...maybe this is "in" now.
I'm 19 and those are on my list, too!

Other things I've asked for are:
a new ipod case
a new Ohio State football jersey
a nice tote bag for campus
a cute but functional umbrella (I've been through 2 already since I started college last year)
all of the Harry Potter books
several cd's
a few movies... Accepted, Beerfest, POTC Dead Man's Chest, and The Little Mermaid

gift cards are always good, too. Besides clothing stores, I like getting them for places like Chipotle and Starbucks. Also, if she drives, gas gift cards are nice.

I agree that the Sophie Kinsella books are good for that age, along with the Au Pair books by Melissa (?) De La Cruz. Reminds me a little of The Devil Wears Prada, which she might like as well, but it's a little more adult. Most 18 year olds wouldn't bat an eye at it, but some parents might not feel comfortable with it.

go to the abc website-they have gray's anatomy tshirts, coffee mugs and all kinds of related stuff. i'm sure you could pick up a few items that would fit the bill.

if she will be traveling-the tsa approved locks, they are the only luggage locks allowed on checked luggage (you can get them at longs, wallmart and most hardware stores). a zippered traveling 'wallet' that holds your passport, airline tickets and other travel docs (i got one at the luggage outlet that has slots for your medical info, insurance card, travelers checks). if she takes any meds a small zippered medication 'wallet'-it can hold small size perscription bottles and is easily opened for inspection if needed. a travel 'neck pillow' (godsend on long flights). a small travel 'jewlery case' that she can carry in her purse. any toiletries she will need during the flight in 3 oz or smaller containers (deoderant, toothpaste, pump hairspray). if she's bothered by noise or a light sleeper-an inexpensive pair of noise reduction ear phones (i got mine at bb&b for less than 20 dollars)-you can hear a person talking to you but all the noise in the plane is hugely reduced (and good to have if she ends up a roommate of a snorer :teeth: ).

How about a movie and girly night package, popcorn, movie rental vouchers, pampering kit. Itunes vouchers, not sure if you have it over there but the Friends Scene it game.

These are great!!! Thanks so much - I knew I could coutn on my DIS friends!!! I know she would love any of these thigns - you've given me some great ideas!!!

I did order some stuff from Sephora, including a Sephora exclusive version of Monopoly that she is going to love. And I'm going to the shopping center today to look for some of these great travel ideas!!!

You could also start giving here things for her dorm room next year, desk supplies (tape dispenser, stapler, printer ink, etc.), sheets for her bed, storage cubes or whatever. I know they aren't "fun" gifts but it will save some of the sticker shock this summer!

She's already a college freshman this year, so she has most of the dorm stuff she needs. That made Christmas last year a lot easier!!!

I did go to the ABC website and I ordered a long-sleeved T-shirt and a Thermos from the Grey's Anatomy page - I think she'll love those. And thanks for the book and movie ideas, too - I know she's read some of the Shopaholic books, and I didn't know The Devil Wears Prada was coming out in time for Christmas - that's a definite yes!!!
