Is it the same each year or do you have a theme? Do you do just one color or tons of different colors? They had the trees up a K-Mart today and there was one done in rose colors and white lights that was just gorgeous.

I have an assortment of ornaments. Some are antique, some are brand new, some are decorations my girls have made me since they could cut and paste. Some are as fragile as glass bells, and then also paper, wood, and metal.

My bells are my treasure more than anything else. My mom gave those to me, her mom had them. They are 5 bells, on one string, each one smaller than the next.
I had another set, but they were broken by a cat up the tree.

I would NEVER do a color coordinated or themed tree. That would be totally meaningless.

Instead, we buy a fresh NC Fraser fir and hang ornaments that we have collected throughout our lives together on it. A few new ones are added each year. Included are a couple ornaments we bought on our honeymoon, ornaments from trips to various places (We buy a new Disney one each year.), a first Christmas ornament with photo for each child, some things the kids made in preschool (not TOO tacky). We also have some Hallmark ornaments -- some with specific meaning and others that we bought just because we like them and a number of things we've received as gifts over the years. We give ornaments to each other and those go on the tree, too.

I also have a Hallmark miniature tree in the dining room. I really enjoy it, but overall it has less meaning because it's just Hallmark ornaments given to me by dh and the boys and bought after Christmas on sale.

Our tree is also ornaments collected over the years. DD always laughs at how I say "Oh...That's one of my favorites" about a whole lot of them.

I have eliminated almost all of my Hallmark ornaments. I purchase some new stuff every year, staying away from plastic or resin ornaments. This year so far I bought knitted mittens, 2 fabric Santas and a dozen glass lollipops.

While I love the tree, I worry about it somewhat the whole time it's up. I have had several topple over, so I'm always wary. In the last 2 years, I moved it to a spot where I can tie it to a windowsill, so I worry a bit less!!

NO THEME. We buy a few additional ornaments each year during the post-Xmas sales:D

I guess I have a Victorian themed tree. My ornaments that are balls are burgandy, rose and pearl colored, the ones that are figures or whatever are carousel horses, musical intruments, lace hearts, porcelain doves, porcelain roses, glass icicles, tassles, ect. I have a beautiful Victorian angel for the top of the tree and I put white chaser lights on it. I love it. :)

I change the colors every 2-3 years. Last year I used a mauve that my dd had a fit over. The lights and the garland are both mauve. I use dark purple balls, and I put a variety of different kind of ornaments including some homemade (or should I say school made;) ) ones my kids have made, including a big Cinderella's Castle ornament.:) My tree skirt has Santa on it.:) I bought a new tree topper last year, I think it's a star, but I can't remember.:o

No theme here either. Those beautiful tree's in the stores belong in the store. Give me a tree with love put into each ornament. My tree may not be the prettiest, but it's a tree full of love and memories. Isn't that whats Christmas is all about.

I also have ornaments from 37 years of marriage. Some I actually cry over when I unwrap them. I do not put all the ornaments on the tree. I have so many. I always wonder why I am still purchasing them.

white lights only, with our random collection of ornaments we've gathered over the years. :)

No themes here either . . .although I really enjoy seeing all the different ones that are decorated in department stores . . .especially the Victorian looking ones . . .

But, for us, its the "traditional" tree here . . .ornaments that we have collected over the years . . .the kids enjoy seeing their special ornaments that they have received since they were little and hanging them up . . .I also have a couple special ones that my parents gave to me when I got married . . .they were from my childhood . . .and everytime I see them I remember hanging them up on my parents tree . . .

We decorate the tree with the small multicolored lights and tinsel along with a almost every ornament we have . . .

:D

lights and ornaments only.

Last year we only had Disney ornaments on it. I think we'll do the same this year. We will also have the monorail with CR and Epcot ball to go around the tree

No tree this year, we will be at WDW for most of Decemeber and no time before or after. BUT last year I bought a BUNCH of new Disney Ornaments and we had a Disney Themed Tree, with my DD Mickey Santa Hat as the tree topper.

In years past I have had a "snow tree" and a "santa" tree. So I guess it changes from year to year.

We put all white lights on our tree and besides the family ornaments (school made, baby's first X-mas, etc) our tree will be mostly Thomas Pacconi ornaments from QVC :teeth:

Basically the same thing every year....
No theming...

I actually do three trees. I do the tree at home, I do my grandmother's tree, and then I do the tree at work. It's great because I can do something totally different with the tree at work than I do at home or at my grandmother's. I was on leave of absence all summer long and was told if I wasn't back to work by Thanksgiving, they weren't putting up the tree...LOL. I go back today (11/5)

No theme here. Just a little bit of everything we have collected, bought, made and whatever goes on our tree!!!:teeth:

We have 3 trees - one large artifical, one small tabletop, and one large live tree.

The large artificial I let the kids help with the decorating. That tree is anything goes, we put up all the Hallmark ornaments I have collected/been given over the years. I let the kids put on icicles, and I try not to be anal about them putting on more than one icicle at a time. :teeth:

The small tabletop tree has nothing but Snoopy/Peanuts ornaments. I have collected so many of those over the years, my favorite one being the one Buckalew gave me last year. She had this made for me, it is so wonderful. Whenever I see it I think of her and smile.

The live tree I decorate in gold and white, and I use my more expensive ornaments on that tree - my mother's Radkos that she left me, some really pretty glass blown gold ornaments that were given to me by a client. All white lights. No icicles, LOL.

We use the ecclectic collection of ornaments too, but I usually also hang a specific color of bows on the tree too. I like the multicolored tiny lights.
