I'm hoping to visit next Christmas, 8nights Orlando, 3 nights NYC. Obviously, indirect is the way to go for us, but can anyone give me an idea of realistic flight prices please. We would want to fly as soon as the schools break up(20th next December), and be home on New Years Day. At the moment the flights are very reasonable, £550ish each, but dates are only up to mid-December. Am I fooling myself by thinking they will stay reasonable?

They shoot up usually around the 15th and come back down on Xmas day.

Last year it was the 14th as we ended up flying on Friday 13th to beat the price hike!

we are considering this as the dh has 3 week of work at xmas anyway so doesnt mean taking any of his holidays plus hes really busy and will struggle to take a 3 week break at any other time of year

Been looking for many years, never found anything close to reasonable once the school holidays start :sad2: (Hence we have never been at Xmas!)

We have just spent Christmas over in Florida. We flew out with BA on the 10th December and had to fly back on New Years Eve to keep the flights at a reasonable price. We paid around £3250 for 2 adults and two children. That was flying direct to Tampa from London Gatwick. Anything flying out a few days later/the following week or returning around the 1st, 2nd of January added at least another 1k plus to flight prices. Hope this helps.

We got good prices for 2012, we arrived back in the UK on New Year's Day but did fly before school broke up, you will see as soon as the come out but might be lucky if going to NYC first :)

Its worth looking into different flight options. I agree thats its always cheaper to fly before the schools holidays start and leave on the 31st - the difference in cost is shocking.

For example. We flew at Christmas past leaving on the 17th dec and returning from orlando on the 31st. From the uk there was nothing less than £500 per person, and any closer to Christmas and coming back after the 1st jan we were looking at £750 each :furious:

We ended up flying from dublin on the 17th for £360 each (via JFK) so even with the flights to and from dublin and a night in the hotel it cost £410 per person...and we held off booking til late October.

If you can channel your inner Merida (and be Brave) you could find a great deal.

I really don't think I could wait until October to book! I'd be on pins for 10 months!

:lmao:
It is nerve racking but I had a quick look for Christmas from Edinburgh and at the moment can get£790 per person flying on the 16th ...similar dates from Dublin are £360 each.......so it's worth checking it out.
