Loser here, we have been messing around these last few days before school starts....I'll try to log in tomorrow for the whole enchilada...

Nice to be home,

~I think from now on, when I post one of "our" cruise pics on the DCL pic a day thread,

I'm gonna post them here for you as well...~

Nice shots btw :thumbsup2

Loser here
Nan, why did you call yourself a loser?? You've been so quiet. How are you? Do tell.

Tig, I had to laugh when I saw Chad with the silverware at Stefanie's head. Kids are so funny. It would have been a great photo, BUT you aren't in it!!! I liked seeing Tori in the matching cruise shirt; it felt good to have a whole bunch of us unified like that. :goodvibes
All set for your vacation? I wish you good weather. I think the hurricane stuff will be gone in a day or two, you think? Chad said he saw on Stefanie's myspace that she's going "away" to college??
Both my kids start school on the 5th. Chad went over to Louise's house for dinner. She has a big family, one sister, lots of brothers, and I think Chad likes all the activity over there.

Grim, I know I don't need to remind you, but please please post as soon as Piper is born. I know Dede said her parents were going to be there, so things must be getting very exciting now. My thoughts are with you.

Now I'm going over to the DCL pic a day thread. I love that thread!

I'm not too worried about Ernesto...

I'd rather it come thru now and have clear skies for my vaca...

FIL is in FL right now, we saw this morning that the hurricane is supposed to cut right and head for the east coast instead of the gulf; we'll see...too far out to really tell.

Stef is going to Rowan, yes it's in NJ but she's gonna stay at the dorms there instead of commute. Her bro & boyfriend are up there with her, I think she left yesterday.

Britt goes back right after Labor Day & then goes on vacation with us for one of the two weeks. She and her brother & Cate (DSs gf) are coming back early so they don't miss too much school.

I wish I was quicker to get myself into pics rather than take them but always understand, as Ansel Adams says..."there are two people in every picture, the person who took it and the person looking at it." :) I am actually in all of these...

Come on Nan...my not known to be quiet friend....we miss you

I'm sorry I haven't been in my chatter mood lately. We have lots of stuff to put back away in the house, remember the granite counter tops (and a vacation) (gotta love that credit card)

Kids at school today....I'll download the pictures and be right back, I'm always in the mood to post them :teeth:

Nan
i'm glad you're home safely but you didn't visit with us shame on you, Clover bunny was all prettied up ready for her visitors.....I'm kidding, I'd guessed that family and sickness had kept you away, hows everyone now?

We were back late Saturday night. Picked up my mom at Newark Sunday. Worked late last night and here I am! We toured the Grand Villa at SSR for next year. WOW. My mom was so impressed that she now owns at SSR too! Works for me!

I did laundry every day - cooked breakfast twice (everyone's was to order even!) - made dinner one night. I love to cook so it wasn't a chore at all. I have no clue how I am ever going to be in a regular room again. The rooms were laid out nicely, plenty of room for 8 of us. The rooms are also sound proof!! You could NOT hear anything from one room to another, nor from above or below us. I really love DCV!! We figure with both moms owning, when Kayla gets married at WDW, we will have room for all of Kayla's family!!

I was surprised at the amount of refurbishing going on. The riverboats in MK, the Muppet fountain in MGM, the bus stops in MK. There were a few other places, but I am drawing a blank as to where else right now. I was also dissappointed in the merchanizing. For as much Disney stuff I own, we always shop and bring home at least a tee shirt each. Nothing struck our fancy. We didn't even go nuts over pins (now you know something was wrong!!) But we discovered that new merchandize is coming in on Sept 15th! I guess they are getting ready for the 35th Anniversary of WDW.

I rode EE. Whoa! I did not realize how much backwards traveling you do. I only rode it because my 12 DNiece was not going on anything UNLESS I went on! GREAT. She ended up loving it and went on everything. I cannot do the simulation rides as I get severely motion sick. But my DN did it all, even RnR. Boy were we proud of her!

The transmission on the safari wasn't working so that was a dissappointment. There was no point in finding Big red in the end. POTC was fantastic. I wish I had gone on again. Everyone loved Soarin' and went on several times. Same with M:S. (Except me, I did neither!)

We always eat at Pecos Bill's, so that was good. No more hotdogs though. Had a few turkey legs here and there. Crystal Palace for character breakfast was yummy. Still find 1900 Park Fare is our favorite. Kayla and the BF went to 50's Prime Time and had fun. Earl of Sandwich in DTD is a new favorite.

SO SO SO disappointed with Alfredo's. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was pleseant, but our food was cold. Stone cold. It was tasty, but not even luke warm. We didn't complain as they allowed us to order off the lunch menu for our picky eaters even though it was dinner time, and my MIL swears they would spit in our food if we sent it back. Dessert was fabulous and the antipasto was plentiful. We decided if we ever go back we would only get the antipasto and dessert. Everything I read on these boards about Alfredo's was true, but we had to experience it on our own.

The weather was a whole other issue. If we didn't have to go in August, believe me we wouldn't have. But I'm glad we went last week with the storm and all! It was HOT, swelltering! But we knew this going into it, so I knew what to expect.

The drive was a piece of cake. I didn't know what to expect, but it was fine. I even made a road scavenger hunt which kept everyone entertained!

Grim, I could not get a comfirmation about the Contemporary, but everyone said 'they had heard about it' or 'there is something going on there'. Nothing concrete though.

Nan, sorry to hear there were some hiccups in your trip. Glad you are home safe.

Tig, Kayla starts on the 6th at Raritan Valley. Community College is they way to go for her right now. Since she doesn't have to be a full time student to be covered under my health care, I don't think we are making her take a full load this year either. She can ease into it better!

Great pictures Aisling.

Dede, I'm pulling for you! I know you both can't wait to meet Piper!

I think that's all I had to report.

Sounds like a good trip overall...

Thanks for coming back and telling us all about it

We feel the same way about hotel rooms after staying in Rose's (Stefanie's Mom) time shares...having a kitchen makes all the difference doesn't it?

~Welcome Home~

Karen,
Sorry you were disappointed in Alfredo's. Grim and I ate there on New Year's Eve and loved it. There were only two of us, though. Perhaps waiting for food to be ready for a larger group was part of the cold food issue. We plan on eating there again as everything that we ate was fantastic, from appetizer to dessert! My only complaint was the noise level, but at WDW whatcha gonna do?

So many lesson plans to write, so I can't stay. Baby should be here any time! Will have Grim post photos as soon as is humanly possible! He's going to stay with us in the hospital (i think) so it may be a day or two before he makes it back home to post them.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone!

Yay! Piper's almost here!

Glad to hear from you Dede, we'll be here patiently waiting for the news :teeth:

Hey Piper's mommy and daddy...sitting here waiting for your news.

Good luck and ENJOY!!!!

Hi everybody!
DId any of you happen to book the 12/26 Magic cruise this year? I booked it while we were on the last one. It's amazing, though, how little interest on the DISboards there is with this cruise. The feeling is that perhaps a lot of 4-night cruisers are newbies and they don't know about the DIS. Those of us veterans who are going will have to show them!
I just got back from WDW after I was there for a scrapbooking event last week-end. 700 women in the Yacht CLub Conference center scrapping away for 24 hours a day from Thursday through Sunday! I just also got a ticket for MNSSHP in October. When I bought my DVC membership, the CM said that DVC owners generally come down more often than the rest of the general public. Boy...was he right!

Hi Sharon,

I read about the scrap meet at the YC, and it sounded like tons of fun. It's amazing how many ladies showed up. I didn't know it was 24 hours; were there people scrapping in the middle of the night? I feel like going next time, even just to watch!

About the 12/26/06 cruise, well, we didn't book that one. But we'll be on the Christmas 07 (12/22/07). Unless something special is announced for the Magic's anniversary in 2008, then we may switch. We'll probably stay with the 07, because our 05 gang is hinting of a 2009 reunion, so if we stick with 07, I'll have 2 years to financially recover before having to pay for the 09.

I wish I was going to the MNSSHP, since I've never been, but can't do it this year. But you'll come back and tell us all about you, won't you?? :goodvibes

Tig, packed up yet? ;)
