Last year, before we went on our Disney Cruise, we made a one day pit stop at the magic kingdom. We had nine people there, including my two small children. We had just left Toontown and were heading to FantasyLand and most of the people in our group were in front of me. I began looking frantically for my DD4. I stopped dead in my tracks and yelled to the others "where's dd4? Where's dd4". They all turned around and looked at me but they just stood there. I was totally freaking out and getting mad that no one was moving to help me look. Did they not realize how big this place is and how small she is and how fast she could be lost or taken??? I again shouted "where's dd4?" Nothing. I turned around to go back to Toontown to look for her myself. I had taken about 3 steps when I heard my sister call my name. I turned back around, thinking of how much time had passed and all that could have happened in that time span and yelled with much exasperation "WHAT?" My sister then pointed her finger at me and said...
"you're holding her."
And I was. When I got home and told other people in my family the story, they asked me if I was embarrassed. I told them "no, I was relieved."

I can't believe we're going!!! I am excited to stay at a DVC. Of course a regular room will never enough after this. Does any one need a Disney fix? We just got a lot of 100 pins for trading!!!

I just realized I signed on as Kayla. Oops.

I hope Nan is well. Not sure I'd want to be in Eurpoe at this time. Scary, but this is the world we live in. DM is in California helping her brother recouperate. I called her to tell her to leave her bottle of gin behind and I'd bring her a new one. She had no clue what I was talking about .... I told her to turn the TV on.

Kind of glad we are driving this time. P&P to Nan and family for a safe trip.

I could def use a D fix ::yes::

I'm helping a co-worker plan her trip down in November...she's a total newbie taking her hubby, two girls & parents along. We just worked out her park & ADR itinerary. I got her staying at POR Riverside...It'll all be worth it when I see her after her trip with a huge smile on her face. :teeth:

So far, the next possible trip for me is DL with Brittany, Stefanie and Stef's Mom next summer...

I'm dying for a Disney fix too! I'm pre-planning Christmas 2007. 2 weeks at WDW with a 1 year old isn't too long, is it??? :teeth:

Karen,
When you're in the world - ask around about the newly leaked DVC at the Contemporary:

Interesting thread on how this was discovered by Tink10:

There's also some interesting tidbits on a new DVC at AKL:

I'm very excited about these 2 properties - not sure which one, or both I would add-on at. AKL - cause it's just about my favorite place in the world, or the Contemporary, with a 5 minute walk to MK....

I've always thought the North Wing was poorly built as far as use of space, it would be nice to see DVC expanded at WDW. I "think" about joining DVC every time we go, Rose is the Time Share Guru and doesn't feel DVC is a penny wise investment.

I see it like DCL, if I were to spend the extra it would be just because it's Disney. Disney impresses me with their high level of expectations, maintenencewise, on their properties.

That all depends on how you'll use it. If you want a timeshare to see the world with, Rose is right. It would be way too expensive to buy DVC for that purpose. Now, if you know you are going to go to a Disney property at least every other year, DVC is awesome. If you are going to go to WDW frequently and stay in a moderate or better, DVC will save you money. Of course, it will actually cost you more in the long run, because you'll start going more frequently, and you'll want to stay in a 1-bedroom instead of a studio, and you'll want to stay in a 2-bedroom instead of a 1-bedroom, and you'll want to stay in a Grand Villa and invite all your family and friends, and you'll want to add on when they announce a new property :rotfl2: It never ends!

Also, DVC is one of few time-shares in the world that has actually INCREASED in value. We purchased in 2002 at $70 a point. I could sell our contract TOMORROW at $95 a point. Just saw one go for $98 a point. I have a friend at work who was all excited to tell me about the timeshare in Mexico he bought for more than $20,000. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he could have bought the same timeshare on the resale market for $9K - same week and everything.

I've seriously considered buying a non-Disney timeshare for trading out, but when it comes down to it, I'd rather vacation at WDW (for now). If we ever get tired of it, we'll sell it for more than we paid for it.

Boy, I should be a DVC 'Guide'!

Absolutely!

You've given me more info in one paragraph than *anyone* I've ever talked to about it :)

thank you...

I would buy it for the Disney experience, Rose wants to travel the world with hers.

HEre's my two cents on DVC ownership:
I bought a membership with 200 points on our cruise last year. If you're thinking about it...DO IT! It's awesome and I have found that's it really easy to rent or transfer points if you aren't going to use them. At $10-12 per point, you can easily use that money of offset some of the cost of joining.

Grim - I will look into the DVC at the Contemporary.

Dominick is planning to take the lap top so I should be able to post here and there!! I can't believe I am actually going .....
